Abstract

399,409. Regenerators. GILL, H. A., 51, Chancery Lane, London.-(Didier-Werke Akt.-Ges. ; 90, Westfõlische Strasse, Wilmersdorf, Berlin.) March 23, 1933, No. 8821. [Class 51 (i).] In a horizontal regenerator intended more particularly for coke ovens, having a plurality of superimposed chambers through which the gases pass in succession and in which the brickwork forms closed horizontal passages b1, b2, the passages of two superimposed chambers are connected together either singly or in groups in such a way that the upper passages of the upper chamber are connected to the lower passages of the lower chamber and conversely, the lower passages of the upper chamber are connected to the upper passages of the lower chamber. As shown in Fig. 1, the passages are connected singly by means of vertical passages c. In a modified form, Fig. 3, the passages b1, b2 are connected together in two groups by the use of a vertical partition h. The stream of hot gases entering the group of passages from the chamber d may be regulated by a partition i and sliding members k1, k2 and similarly the air stream may be controlled by a partition l and pivoted flap m.
