Abstract
870,543. Coke ovens. KOPPERS G.m.b.H., HEINRICH. April 7, 1960, No. 12472/60. Class 51 (2). A compound regeneratively-heated coke oven battery has below each oven a pair of regenerators divided into two sections 1 and 3 by a central wall 11 each section being served by a sole flue 10 opening near said wall 11 into a distributing duct 13, and has above the regenerator pairs a flue space divided into ducts 19 and 20 by a partition 18 extending from said wall 11 towards an outer opening 18a. Lower and upper regenerator ports 16 and 34 respectively are calibrated to give uniform gas flow through the regenerator sections. Ports 34 near the opening 18a have dampers 22 adjustable through wall openings 24. The sole flues and distributing ducts may be divided into three by vertical partitions, Fig. 2 (not shown), each central distributing duct having a damper closed during operation with rich gas. The latter is supplied through ducts 6 and 7 and ports 8. In a further modification, Fig. 4, two distributing ducts 29 open at 33 into the sole flue 10 in which are formed regenerator ports 31, the inner regenerator ports 30 being formed in said distributing ducts.
