Abstract
1,158,243. Coke ovens. HEINRICH KOPPERS G.m.b.H. 15 Feb., 1968 [16 March, 1967], No. 7428/68. Heading F4B. In a horizontal coke-oven battery of the CoppÚe type, each heating wall comprises a series of twin vertical flues 3, 4 interconnected by horizontal passages at at least two different levels within the upper part of the wall, damper bricks 8 being provided for adjustably throttling said passages to distribute the gas flow amongst said passages. In the preferred embodiment, a pair of passages 5 are disposed at one level and a pair of passages 6 at a second lower level, the damper blocks 8 directing the flow of the waste gases through the agency of short rods 10 introduced from the oven roof.
