Abstract
432,345. Coke ovens. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-, 28, Southampton Buildings, Chancery Lane, London.-(Koppers Co. of Delaware; Koppers Building, Pittsburg, U.S.A.) Oct. 20,1933, No. 29146. [Class 51 (ii)] In a vertically-flued coke oven of the crossover type described in Specification 171,117, [Class 51 (ii)], having cross regenerators 40 beneath the heating - walls, expansion slots 44 are provided which are opento the atmosphere and extend the height of the regenerator structure to the soles of the oven 2. In the construction shown the regenerators run the full width of the battery, and the expansion slots are situated between adjacent pairs which are connected to superposed pairs of heating-walls by means of conduits 49. Each regenerator has two sole flues 42 leading to a reversing-valve at one side of the bench. Expansion joints 46, 47 extend from the tops of the ovens to the top of the bench. In another construction in which a pair of end to end regenerators extends beneath each heating-wall, as described in Specification 432,413 there is an expansion slot in the pillar wall beneath each oven.
