Abstract

1169. PrÚgardien, J. Jan. 15. Hot - blast stoves. Two sets of tubes are arranged in parallel in two branches of the waste - gas flue of a Cowper stove, one for heating the air for combustion in the stove, and the other for heating the blast which is passed through the stove. Fig. 3 shows the waste - gas flue divided into two branches by a partition 11, a damper 12 determining the relative heating of the two sets of tubes in them. The upper ends of the tubes extend, as shown in Fig. 1, into chambers 4, 5, in which are longitudinal partition walls (not shown), corresponding to the partition 11 in the flue, to separate the two sets of tubes.
