Abstract

L'invention décrit la préparation de cathodes pour des cellules d'électrolyse. On nettoie et décape l'électrode de métal (5 à 10 minutes dans de l'acide nitrique à 10-25 % à 35-45 degrés C), puis l'on active par dépôt d'un revêtement de nickel contenant S (bain contenant par litre 50-350 g d'hydrate de sulfate de nickel et 10 à 200 g de thiourée; 30-60 degrés C; pH 3 à 6; densité de courant cathodique de 0,3-6 A/dm**2). Ces électrodes peuvent notamment servir à produire, avec de faibles surtensions, de l'hydrogène par électrolyse de solutions alcalines.
