SE APLICA SOBRE LAS SUPERFICIES INTERNA Y EXTERNA DEL ELECTRODO UNA CAPA DE NITI<X(OH) QUIMICA O ELECTRICAMENTE GENERANDOSE A PARTIR DE LA MISMA, MEDIANTE DESCOMPOSICION TERMICA, A TEMPERATURAS SUPERIORES A 150 C, UNA CAPA DE OXIDO MIXTO DE NIQUEL Y TITANIO, APLICANDOSE EL ADITIVO CATALIZADOR DE TITANIO EN FORMA DE TITANIO DE UNA SOLUCION DE SAL DE TITANIO EN UNA CANTIDAD TAL Y/O EN UNA CONCENTRACION TAL SOBRE LA SUPERFICIE DE NIQUEL, QUE LA PROPORCION DEL TITANIO EN LA CAPA DE OXIDO MIXTO DE NIQUEL Y TITANIO ASCIENDA A UN 2 A 3% EN PESO. EL RECUBRIMIENTO ALCANZA UN ESPESOR DE 0,0025 A 0,1 MICROMETROS. SE UTILIZA PARA LA ELECTROLISIS ALCALINA DEL AGUA.
