EL ESTER ACETICO SE PUEDE PRODUCIR DE FORMA BARATA MEDIANTE UNA CARBONILACION EN FASE DE GAS DE METANOL CON MONOXIDO DE CARBONO SEGUIDO DE UNA TRANSESTERIFICACION. DE MANERA ESPECIFICA, EL PROCESO DE LA INVENCION CONSISTE EN (A) CARBONILAR METANOL EN UNA FASE DE GAS CON MONOXIDO DE CARBONO PARA OBTENER UNA MEZCLA DE ACIDO ACETICO Y ACETATO DE METILO; (B) SEPARAR DE LA MEZCLA OBTENIDA EL ACIDO ACETICO Y UNA MEZCLA DEL ACETATO DE METILO Y EL COCATALIZADOR; (C) SEGUIR SEPARANDO DICHO ACETATO DE METILO Y EL COCATALIZADOR Y RECICLAR EL COCATALIZADOR SEPARADO AL REACTOR DE CARBONILACION; (D) INTRODUCIR EL ACETATO DE METILO SEPARADO EN UNA REGION INFERIOR DE UN REACTOR DE TRANSESTERIFICACION A UNA TEMPERATURA SUPERIOR AL PUNTO DE EBULLICION, (E) INTRODUCIR UN C2 O ALCOHOL SUPERIOR EN UNA REGION SUPERIOR DEL REACTOR DE TRANSESTERIFICACION A UNA TEMPERATURA DE HASTA SU PUNTO DE EBULLICION; (F) TRANSESTERIFICAR EL ACETATO DE METILO CON EL ALCOHOL EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR ACIDO PARA OBTENER UNAMEZCLA QUE CONTENGA ESTERES ACETICOS; Y (G) RECUPERAR LOS ESTERES ACETICOS DE LA MEZCLA COMO PRODUCTO DE FONDO MIENTRAS SE RECICLAN EL ACETATO DE METILO Y EL METANOL QUE NO HAN REACCIONADO EN EL REACTOR DE CARBONILACION O COLUMNA DE DESTILACION.
