Definitions
- the present invention relates to a printed product with a substrate, an imagewise applied layer of an offset printing ink, a full-surface or partial primer layer and a full-surface or partial cover layer of a UV-curable lacquer. It further relates to a method for producing the printed product and its use.
- Printed products produced in offset printing, in particular sheet-fed offset printing have been known for a long time.
- oxidative, ie chemically curing printing inks are used in offset printing.
- the offset ink layer is wet-on-wet coated with an aqueous overprint varnish or a primer.
- This overprint varnish or primer is usually used in the form of a dispersion.
- the dispersion can usually be applied with an anilox roller in the chamber doctor blade method.
- the anilox roller is designed so that the primer layer or overprint varnish layer reaches as high a weight of about 2-5 g / m 2 or more wet application.
- the primer or overprint varnish has a good standing on the not yet cured offset ink layer, since this otherwise sinks into the offset ink.
- the dispersion particles move close together and connect to the contact surfaces. The surface is thus much scratch resistant and less prone to blocking.
- oxygen access is still possible, so that the offset printing ink can harden completely within 24 hours, as usual.
- On the provided with primer or overprint varnish prints then normally no more powdered materials must be applied. At least their amount can be greatly reduced. In general, powders have the disadvantage of reducing gloss and abrasion resistance.
- the production of shining Substrate surfaces are applied according to the economic principle. To increase the capacity of sheetfed offset presses to capacity of 15,000 sheets and more per hour, the sheets printed with the offset ink are often coated in-line with a full-surface layer of a UV-curable lacquer.
- a combination of layers of an aqueous primer and UV-curable lacquer leads to problems. Because this is where physical and chemical hardening mechanisms meet.
- the aqueous primer cures physically while the UV varnish chemically cures.
- the cured UV lacquer is only slightly permeable to oxygen, so that the underlying offset ink can cure only slowly oxidative.
- the layer of the UV varnish looks like a cover foil. Since in an in-line process, the individual layers are applied very quickly successively (at intervals of 1 second or less), the UV coating layer can sink into the primer layer. Likewise, the primer layer can sink into the underlying offset ink.
- the particles are generally colorless and not opaque after drying. Otherwise, they would affect the hue and gloss of the image produced with the offset ink.
- the present invention is a printed product according to claim 1 with a substrate, an imagewise applied layer of an offset printing ink, a full-surface or partial primer layer and a full-surface or partial cover layer of a UV-curable lacquer, which is characterized in that the primer layer platelet-shaped particles contains.
- the length or width of the particles is generally 1 to 1000 .mu.m, preferably 5 to 600 .mu.m and particularly preferably 1 to 200 .mu.m.
- the thickness is 0.05 to 10 ⁇ m and preferably 0.1 to 2 ⁇ m.
- the flake-shaped particles can be, for one, be colorless or after drying nonhiding particles, in particular layered silicates, such as kaolin, natural or synthetic mica, talc, titanium dioxide platelets, alumina platelets, silica flakes, glass flakes, Fe 2 O 3 flakes or Wax. Mica particles are particularly preferred.
- the platelet-shaped substrates can be effect pigments. Effect pigments in particular pearlescent pigments, metal-effect pigments, multilayered pigments having transparent or transparent and opaque layers, holographic pigments, BiOCl pigments and LCP (L iquid C rystal P olymer) are meant here.

- the particles or pigments may be identical or different from those in the primer layer.
- the primer layer contains finely divided pearlescent pigments based on mica and the UV coating layer colorless or after drying non-covering particles. In order to achieve particularly uniform color effects, it has also proven to be favorable when the particles in the UV lacquer layer are larger than the pigments in the underlying primer layer.
- the effect pigments not only act as spacers which prevent the primer layer from falling into the offset ink layer, but also significantly improve the visual impression of the printed product. This is attributed to the fact that the platelet-shaped pigment particles align in the wet-on-wet-applied primer layer of the anilox roller before the UV coating is applied in the subsequent step. The visual impression is then comparable to that of automotive paint.
- effect pigments in particular pearlescent pigments

- the proportion of (effect) pigment should decrease from the offset color layer on the primer layer to the UV-curable lacquer layer, so that the individual effects do not overlap.
- the degree of crosslinking of the polymers in the primer layer is then increased again by the use of UV rays in the curing of the UV varnish, since this also the radical photoinitiator in can reach the aqueous primer layer. This further reduces the drop of the primer into the offset color.
- the primer layer moreover contains at least one crosslinker which ensures rapid curing.

Description

B. in derDE-A 198 10 317 offenbart.
