Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for producing a tubular knitted fabric on a flat knitting machine with two opposite needle beds by connecting the edges of two partial knitted fabrics, one of which is knitted on the front needle bed and the other on the rear needle bed, the knitted parts on the front and rear Needle bed are each formed by at least two knitting systems and two thread guides.
  • This process can be used to produce complete knitted fabrics, such as pullovers or other items of clothing, in which no seams can subsequently be closed. After leaving the machine, all you have to do is cut the thread ends and steam the goods, then they are ready to wear. However, it is also possible to manufacture other tubular knitted fabrics, for example for technical applications.
  • the present invention is based on the object of proposing a method with high productivity for producing a tubular knitted fabric with visually appealing closed side edges, which are particularly suitable for producing complete knitted fabrics.
  • this method has a high productivity, since at least two rows of stitches can be produced with each carriage movement.
  • seam-like structures are created on the side edges of the tubular knitted fabric, which is often desired by customers with items of clothing, since these are used to side seams in sweaters and other items of clothing are.
  • the edge connections created when the method according to the invention is carried out are also tightly closed and yet elastic, which is important for the comfort of clothing.
  • the effect stitches, which are formed in the knitting cycle cover the actual edge connection. In this way, very visually appealing edge connections are created.
  • the needles of the other needle bed that are opposite the needles of one needle bed that are occupied by a stitch cannot be occupied by stitches in order to enable transfer processes. If this needle division takes place over the entire width of the knitted fabric, this also allows the production of tubular rib knitted fabrics, for example for the production of cuffs.
  • Fig. 1 shows schematically a sweater with a body part 1 and two sleeves 2 and 3.
  • the body part 1 and the sleeves 2, 3 are each produced as tubular knitted fabrics by connecting two partial knitted fabrics at the edges.
  • the edge connections marked with x are created by crossing threads of the thread guides for the knitted fabrics on the front and rear needle beds, while the edge connections marked with ⁇ are created by forming an additional edge stitch on the opposite needle bed.
  • Fig. 2 illustrates the process for producing a tubular knitted fabric, e.g. B. the sweater body part 1 from Fig. 1, with closed side edges in the form of an effect edge connection, on a flat knitting machine with two opposite needle beds and at least two knitting systems for the front and two knitting systems for the rear needle bed.
  • the needles of the front needle bed are capitalized A - J and the needles of the rear needle bed marked with lowercase letters a - j.
  • the tubular knitted fabric shown is also only knitted with every second needle in order to have needles free for transfer operations and to be able to knit right and left stitches in a tubular knitted fabric, for example for the production of cuffs.
  • Meshed needles are indicated by long lines, empty needles by short lines.
  • a stitch is first formed with the needle J of the front needle bed, which results in an effect stitch that extends over two rows of stitches, and then finish the row of stitches with the needles i to a of the back needle bed, the stitch of the needle a again becoming an effect stitch.
  • knitting is carried out in the same carriage direction with the trailing knitting system and a second thread guide, in the example the thread guide FF5, with the needles H to B of the front needle bed.
  • a row of stitches is formed with the leading knitting systems and the thread guide FF4 with the needles c to i of the rear needle bed in the reverse direction of the slide.
  • a row of stitches is then created in row 4 in the same carriage direction with the trailing knitting systems and the thread guide FF5 with the needles B to H of the front needle bed.
  • the threads of the two thread guides FF4 and FF5 are crossed, since the thread guide FF4, whose thread is connected to stitches of the rear needle bed, now works with the leading knitting system and therefore on the stationary thread guide FF5, the thread of which is connected to stitches of the front needle bed, slides past and thus places its thread around that of the thread guide FF5 (FIG. 3).
  • the tubular knitted fabric on the left edge is closed.
  • Rows 1 to 4 can be repeated until the desired length of the tubular knitted fabric is reached.
  • Fig. 4 shows a view of the connection area of two knitted fabrics 30 and 40.
  • the actual connection point is covered by effect stitches 35, so that there is a kind of decorative seam.
