Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for processing photographic materials from at least one tank filled with a liquid and means which largely remove the liquid from the photographic material leaving the tank and return it to the same tank.
- the photo material goes through a multi-stage process e.g. Developing, washing, bleaching, washing, fixing, washing, stabilizing, drying or developing, fixing, washing, drying.
- these wipers are used before and after the individual processing stages to reduce the carryover of the solutions.
- Rubber lips that strip the photo material on one or both sides.
- Rubber lips in turn have the disadvantage that they are more worn at the edges when used for a longer period with a certain material width than in the middle and therefore no longer act evenly over the entire material width when the format is changed. Therefore they have to be renewed frequently.
- So-called squeeze rollers through which the photographic material is passed under pressure, are also frequently used in photographic technology. This removes the liquid adhering to the surface to some extent. This does not remove any liquid or chemicals in the gelatin layers of the photographic material. The effect of such a pair of rollers is therefore insufficient.
- the axes of each pair of rollers are preferably set parallel to the horizontal.
- the rollers of at least one pair of rollers touched in particular with a pressure of 50 to 1000 p / cm2.
- At least one roller of at least one pair of rollers is preferably driven; in particular, all pairs of rollers are driven.
- the surface of at least one roller of each pair of rollers is preferably made of an elastic material, preferably rubber.
- the other role can also be made of an elastic material, but also, for example, stainless steel or hard plastic.
- the liquid supply is provided at the highest point of the highest mounted pair of rollers.
- the photographic material which is passed between the rollers of each pair of rollers after leaving the tank, can thus be charged with a small amount of a liquid, in particular with water, so that cascade watering with the smallest amounts is realized in a very small space.
- the device of pairs of rollers arranged one above the other can be provided several times, also several times with respect to a tank, the applied water being conducted in countercurrent to the photographic material and optionally being guided there by baffles or guides.
- the device according to the invention is described in more detail in FIG. 1.
- Fig. 1 shows a side view of the device according to the invention with the running directions of the pairs of rollers, the photographic material and an applied liquid.
- (1) represents a tank within a photographic processing apparatus, such as a washing tank, the water level of which is not shown.
- a photographic processing apparatus such as a washing tank, the water level of which is not shown.
- pairs of rollers (3) are mounted one above the other on axes (2), one of which is provided with a drive (not shown).
- an am Point (6) denotes added liquid, in particular wash water.
- the washing water can be applied to one or both sides of the photographic material, runs around the outside of the rollers before it comes to the next pair of rollers until it finally drips into the tank (1).
- (7) identifies a device which ensures the adjustment of the pressure between the two rollers of the pair of rollers.
- the wash water can contain suitable additives such as wetting agents, antioxidants and biocides and can be adjusted to a defined pH value.
- the roll diameter is not critical; for space reasons one will choose diameters between 1 and 10 cm.
- the two rollers of each pair of rollers can have different diameters.
- the pressure of the roller pairs is set, for example, by tension springs which are guided around both axes of the rollers.
- Another object of the invention is a washing process for a photographic material which has been previously treated with a chemical solution, for example a developing, bleaching, fixing or bleach-fixing bath, characterized in that the material is passed through several successive pairs of rollers after passing through the bath who is about the liquid level of the bath or are downstream of the bath, the rollers of each pair of rollers being arranged parallel to one another and the material being moistened with water after passing through at least one pair of rollers.
- the material is preferably moistened with water after each passing through a pair of rollers.
- the water flowing down from the respective above pairs of rollers is used to moisten a lower pair of rollers.
- For moistening over a pair of rollers in particular 20 to 500 ml water / m2 are used. Preferably 30 to 300 ml / m2 are used.
- the water is preferably directed into the bath that has just left the material.
- a 35 mm wide photographic film passes through a developer, a wash, a bleach bath, a wash, a fixer, a wash and is finally dried.
- composition of the bleach bath corresponds to the following formula: NH4Br 140 g / l (NH4) FeEDTA 70 g / l EDTA acid 10 g / l pH 6.0.
- the residence time of the film in the bleaching bath is 4 min 20 sec., The temperature is 37.8 ° C. After the bleaching bath, the film runs into a small washing tank with a capacity of 0.5 l.
- the material then passes through a second washing tank with a capacity of 5.0 l.
- Washing tank 2 remains without fresh water supply.
- Example 2 The procedure was as in Example 1, but above the washing tank 1 on the outlet side of the material the scraper according to the invention according to FIG. 1 was installed with 3 driven roller pairs arranged vertically one above the other and aligned parallel to the horizontal. Furthermore, the water inlet to tank 1 was closed and 200 ml of water / m2 were dripped onto the upper pair of rollers instead. The water only reaches tank 1 from the last pair of rollers. The pressure with which the rollers of all three pairs of rollers touched was 100 p / cm2. The surfaces of all rolls were made of rubber.
- a commercially available color photographic paper passes through a developer, a wash, a bleach bath, a wash, a fixing bath, a wash and is then dried. Times: developer 45 sec 35 ° C Watering 22 sec 25 ° C Bleach bath 45 sec 35 ° C Watering 22 sec 25 ° C Fixer 45 sec 35 ° C Watering I 22.5 25 ° C Irrigation II 22.5 25 ° C Irrigation III 22.5 25 ° C
- composition of the fixing bath corresponds to the following formula Na2S2O3 100 g / l Na2SO3 10 g / l and was regenerated during the test period.
- the tank capacity of the tank was 5 l each.
- the watering rate in the watering tank 1 was 120 ml / m2.
- Watering tank II remained without fresh water supply.
- Wash tank III received 900 ml / m2.
- the content of sodium thiosulfate in the washing tank II was determined analytically. This provides a measure of the carryover that results from a watering of 120 ml / m2 in tank I.
- Example 3 The procedure was as in Example 3, but the scraper according to the invention was installed in the watering tank I with 4 driven roller pairs arranged one above the other and the water itself was drained from the tank.
- the pressure with which the 4 pairs of rollers touched was approximately 700 p / cm2.

Abstract
Description
- Vorschubgeschwindigkeit 5 m/min
Wässerungsrate 200 ml/m² in Wässerungstank 1.
Zeiten: Entwickler 45 sek 35°C Wässerung 22 sek 25°C Bleichbad 45 sek 35°C Wässerung 22 sek 25°C Fixierbad 45 sek 35°C Wässerung I 22,5 25°C Wässerung II 22,5 25°C Wässerung III 22,5 25°C - Die Zusammensetung des Fixierbades entspricht folgender Formel
Na₂S₂O₃ 100 g/l Na₂SO₃ 10 g/l
