Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for testing cigarettes and sorting out any defective cigarettes (faulty cigarettes) with a test zone consisting of upright test shafts arranged next to one another, through which cigarettes are passed from top to bottom in upright rows of cigarettes and in which the cigarettes are checked on a test level by test organs , with intact cigarettes being handed down to a supply, and wherein in each test shaft a cigarette below the test level can be fixed by holding members at least for the duration of the test.
  • cigarettes are usually checked for proper training. This cigarette check and the sorting out of any faulty cigarettes takes place within the packaging machine, in the present invention in the area of a cigarette store (cigarette magazine). As a result, faulty cigarettes are sorted out before cigarette groups are formed for one pack.
  • the cigarette test is about performing a very precise test as quickly as possible and eliminating faulty cigarettes without affecting the further cigarette transport. Mechanical testing of the cigarettes should also be avoided by the test.
  • DE-C-528 448 shows a device for the targeted delivery of cigarettes from a larger group, for example from a supply, to a horizontal conveyor.
  • a larger group for example from a supply
  • side-by-side shafts are provided, in which the cigarettes can be moved downward in vertical rows.
  • flaps are provided for a lower row of cigarettes and pushers are provided for the row above. The testing and separation of cigarettes is not addressed.
  • the object of the invention is to design the intended holding members so that the cigarettes can be fixed in the inspection shaft as safely and gently as possible.
  • the device according to the invention is characterized in that the holding members are arranged so as to be transversely displaceable as clamping members, namely as clamping fingers which act like jaws and which extend in the longitudinal direction of the cigarette next to the cigarette, at least one clamping finger being provided in each test shaft.
  • the cigarettes are tested individually or - better - in pairs in the inspection shafts, namely two cigarettes one on top of the other.
  • a cigarette of the upright row of cigarettes located below these testing cigarettes is momentarily held by the clamping members which act like jaws and then released again.
  • the jaw-like clamping members are designed as elongated clamping fingers which extend parallel to the cigarettes within the test wells and can be moved transversely to clamp the cigarettes.
  • the relatively thin clamping fingers are with curved or similarly shaped clamping surfaces provided that have an adjusting effect on the stuck cigarettes.
  • a clamping finger can be arranged laterally in each test shaft, which holds the cigarette by pressing it against an opposite shaft wall by means of a corresponding transverse movement.
  • the clamping fingers of all test wells can be actuated together, namely by an actuation mechanism extending outside the test wells and transversely to them.
  • Holding members for the tested cigarettes are arranged at the lower outlet ends of the test shafts, namely transversely movable supporting bars or pivoting supporting fingers, on which the cigarettes or the row of cigarettes temporarily rest or rest.
  • Cigarette packaging machines are usually equipped with a cigarette magazine 10.
  • Fig. 1 the predominant part of such a cigarette magazine, but in a design modified from conventional designs, is shown in vertical section.
  • Cigarettes 11 coming from a cigarette manufacturing machine or a larger stock are filled into the top of the cigarette magazine 10 provided with bulged side walls 12, 13.
  • a cigarette store 14 is formed within the cigarette magazine.
  • the level of the cigarette supply 14 is monitored by control bodies, namely upper and lower light barriers 15, 16.
  • the lower area of the cigarette magazine consists of a plurality of upright or almost upright magazine chutes 17.
  • the cigarettes 11 pass through the magazine chutes 17 due to their own weight, forming rows of individual cigarettes 11 arranged one above the other.
  • shaft groups 18 are combined into shaft groups 18.
  • cigarette groups 19 are cigarette groups 19, each of which contains a pack of cigarettes correspond, ejected from the magazine shafts 17 of a shaft group 18 by ejection elements 20 and fed to the packaging.
  • a test unit 21 is installed within the cigarette magazine 10, in the present case in the area of the largest transverse dimension. This is located at a distance above the cigarette store 14.
  • the cigarettes 11 are passed through the test unit 21 and checked in the process. Any missing cigarettes (inadequate tobacco filling, missing filter, etc.) are identified and sorted out in the area of the test unit 21. The intact cigarettes are transferred to the cigarette store 14.
  • the cigarettes are passed through upright test shafts 22 of the test unit 21, based on their own weight.
  • the test wells 22 are separated from one another by parallel, upright well walls 23.
  • the test wells 22 are dimensioned such that a row of cigarettes 24 of individual cigarettes arranged one above the other in the sealing position is accommodated therein.
  • the row of cigarettes 24 is moved through the test shafts 22 from top to bottom in cycles.
  • Above the test unit 21 there is a sufficient cigarette collection 25, from which the cigarette rows 24 are formed by inserting the cigarettes 11 into the test shafts 22 with the aid of movable distributor members 26.
  • arcuate guide plates 27 leading to the test wells 22 are arranged on the side walls 12, 13, arcuate guide plates 27 leading to the test wells 22 are arranged.
  • the cigarettes are checked in the area of a horizontal test plane 28.
  • two superimposed cigarettes are checked in each inspection shaft 22 by inspection bodies 29, 30 with regard to the correct design.
  • the cigarettes are recorded in the area of their two end faces for test purposes, in the present case by electro-optical test units 31, 32. If incorrect cigarettes are identified during the test, the test units 31, 32 give a corresponding signal to a cigarette ejector. This is arranged below the test plane 28, specifically in the area of the test unit 22.
  • the cigarettes 11a in the test shafts 22 are fixed mechanically, specifically by means of clamping members.
  • a clamping member for gripping the cigarette 11a is movably arranged in each test shaft 22.
  • clamping fingers 33 which extend in the longitudinal direction of the cigarettes over approximately the full length of the same or over the full depth of the test shaft.
  • the relatively thin clamping finger 33 is arranged laterally next to the cigarettes, specifically in a recess 34 of the shaft walls 23 with a rectangular cross section.
  • the clamping finger 33 is moved transversely from the starting position within the recess 34 until it abuts against the cigarette 11a, which is pressed by the clamping finger 33 against an opposite side surface 35 of the adjacent shaft wall 23 (FIG. 3).
  • the clamping position of the cigarette 11a is exactly predetermined by the position of the clamping fingers 33. These are on the side facing the cigarettes 11a with a contour of the cigarettes 11a adapted, curved clamping surface 36 is formed. The design of this clamping surface 36 is such that the cigarettes 11a are centered on the clamping fingers 33 in the clamping position.
  • the test unit 21 shown is aimed at the cyclical testing and delivery of two cigarettes each. For this reason, a clamping plane 37 defined by the clamping fingers 33 is formed at a distance of two cigarettes below the test plane 28.
  • a further holding plane 38 is formed for the respective lower cigarette 11b of the row of cigarettes 24.
  • 23 supporting webs 39 for the cigarettes 11b are arranged in a plane below the shaft walls. These can be moved back and forth transversely to the shaft walls 23, specifically on a supporting or carrying position according to FIG. 3 in the middle below the test shafts 22 and in a position releasing them in the middle below the shaft walls 23 (FIG. 4).
  • the distance between the holding plane 38 or supporting webs 39 from the clamping plane 37 is greater than the multiple diameter of the cigarettes, in the present case somewhat larger than the diameter of two cigarettes one above the other, so that a small space 40 is created between the clamped cigarette 11a and the one below it .
  • this area namely above the supporting webs 39 and below the clamping plane 37, any missing cigarettes are ejected in the longitudinal direction thereof.
  • test unit 21 designed in the above manner works as follows:
  • the cigarettes 10a are fixed in the manner described by clamping to align the tested cigarettes.
  • the support webs 39 are located in the test shafts 22 closing Position. If the cigarettes are faulty, the overlying cigarettes that are not or only slightly loaded can be ejected during the inspection of the overlying cigarettes. Faulty cigarettes are ejected through blowing nozzles 41, 42, which are assigned to each other in test pairs 22 in pairs. The blowing nozzles 41, 42 can - depending on the error signal of the test units 31, 32 - act individually or together.
  • the supporting webs 39 are moved back into the supporting position below the test wells 22 (FIG. 5).
  • the cigarette 10a is released by moving the clamping fingers 33 back. Now the entire row of cigarettes 24 can slide downward within the test chutes 22 until the lower cigarette 11b rests on the supporting webs 39. Then, for the new test cycle, the clamping fingers are again moved transversely to detect a cigarette 11a.
  • the embodiment according to FIG. 6 differs from the solution described in relation to the design of the clamping members.
  • two clamping members namely clamping fingers 43, 44, are assigned to each test well 22 here. These are moved towards a cigarette 11a on opposite sides, so that the cigarette is fixed in the center of the test shaft 22.
  • a further deviation is that the shaft walls 23 do not pass through the full height of the test shafts 22, but have an interruption or gap 45.
  • This continuous space also defines the clamping plane within which the clamping fingers 43, 44 can be moved transversely.
  • FIGS. 7 and 8 Another alternative is shown in simplified form in FIGS. 7 and 8. This consists in a different design of the supporting webs 39.
  • pivotable supporting fingers 46 are arranged in this exemplary embodiment, which are pivoted in the carrying position in such a way that a support surface 47 arranged at the end is directed horizontally and serves as a support for the lower cigarette 11b .
  • the support fingers 46 which are designed as a protruding pivot lever, are mounted in a pivot bearing below the shaft walls 23 and can be pivoted by a gear from a downward extension of the shaft walls 23 (FIG. 8) into the obliquely upward supporting position according to FIG. 7
  • the support fingers 46 are pivotally moved by a common rack 48 above each pinion 49 assigned to each support finger 46.
  • the cigarette magazine 10 is provided with a continuous front wall 50 and rear wall 51.
  • the test unit 21 or its shaft walls 23 are connected to the rear wall 51, as are other organs.
  • the distributor members 26 are rotatably mounted in the rear wall 51 as projecting cantilever parts and can be moved by a drive unit 52.
  • each clamping finger 33 is attached to a holder 53, which here is Z-shaped. This is located outside the cigarette magazine 10 in the region of the rear wall 51 and projects into a through opening 54 thereof.
  • the brackets 53 are slidably mounted on two horizontal or transverse support rods 55, 56. By appropriate actuation, all holders 53 and thus the clamping fingers 33 are jointly moved transversely while displacing the holders 53 on the support rods 55, 56.
  • the supporting webs 39 with angled or Z-shaped holders 57 are also mounted on the supporting rods 55, 56, specifically in the area between the holders 53 for the clamping fingers 33.
  • the common transverse movement of the holders 57 with the supporting webs 39 takes place in FIG the way described.
  • blowing nozzles 41, 42 are integrated in the holder 53 for the clamping fingers 33. This ensures that the blowing nozzles 41, 42 in the clamping position of the clamping fingers 33 are each aligned in front of a pair of cigarettes arranged one above the other below the clamping plane 37. On the side opposite the blow nozzles 41, 42, namely in the front wall 50, an ejection opening 58 is formed for the exit of any missing cigarettes.
