Definitions

  • the invention relates to a sheet-fed rotary printing press according to the preamble of the main claim.
  • a sheet-fed rotary printing press of the type in question is known from Japanese publication Sho 52-29 643, in which a storage drum located beneath it is assigned to the sheet transfer cylinder located between the two printing cylinders.
  • the sheet transfer cylinder contains grippers to grasp the trailing edge of the sheet. Before these grippers close, the sheet trailing edge is bent by about 90 degrees using a sheet guide plate on the storage drum side.
  • a sheet-fed rotary printing machine is not suitable for printing on cardboard.
  • the storage drum lying outside the normal sheet guide largely prevents the creation of a sheet-fed rotary printing press in a row design. Then it is not possible to smooth the sheet before taking over the following grippers, which favors inaccurate printing.
  • the object of the invention is based on the object of designing a generic sheet-fed rotary printing press in such a way that a safe sheet turning is possible while achieving a low overall height of the machine, even with thick cardboard.
  • a major advantage of the solution according to the invention is that a low overall height of the machine can be achieved by the sheet support arranged downstream of the sheet transfer cylinder.
  • the sheet support fits into the overall design of the sheet-fed rotary printing press in a space-saving manner and is inexpensive to accommodate in a row construction concept. If the sheet is to be printed on the back after passing through the first printing unit, the leading edge of the sheet passes from the sheet transfer cylinder to the upper side of the support and is pushed onto the sheet support as the grippers holding the trailing edge approach the sheet. When the sheet transfer cylinder is rotated further, the sheet travels ahead with its grasped sheet trailing edge, accompanied by a turning of the sheet. This sheet turning can be done safely and precisely, combined with good printing results.
  • This sheet-fed rotary printing machine is also suitable for processing cardboard.
  • high throughput speeds can be achieved while the sheet-fed rotary printing press is highly economical.
  • a particularly good transfer of the sheet leading edge to the sheet support or pushing the corresponding sheet start onto it is achieved by arranging the sheet support in the gusset between the sheet transfer cylinder and the printing cylinder downstream of the same.
  • the space available there is used to accommodate this sheet support. Due to the fact that the peripheral surface of the sheet transfer cylinder overlaps the facing end of the sheet support to a certain extent, an additional sheet displacement component occurs and leads to an acceleration with regard to the sheet displacement onto the sheet support.
  • a kinking of the trailing edge of the sheet is reliably avoided during the turning process in that the corresponding grippers of the sheet transfer cylinder, after passing through the opposite face to the sheet transfer cylinder end of the sheet support, from their position in the direction of rotation of the sheet transfer cylinder facing the gripper jaw into the position of the gripper jaw opposite to the sheet transfer cylinder direction of rotation. Therefore, the gripper mouth always runs in the direction of the sheet plane and precludes a kinking of the rear edge of the bow combined with a secure transfer of the rear sheet edge to the grippers of the subsequent printing cylinder.
  • the application of the leading edge of the sheet to the sheet support is favored in that it is designed as a circumferential band.
  • the direction of rotation of the belt preferably corresponds to the peripheral speed of the sheet transfer cylinder.
  • the speed of the belt is also adapted to the peripheral speed of the sheet transfer cylinder.
  • the detection of the trailing edge of the sheet by the sheet support is optimized by the upper side of the support, which is slightly arched in the direction of the printing cylinder.
  • An advantageous way of securely grasping the trailing edge of the sheet is that the gripper of the sheet transfer cylinder designed as a gripper gripper swings with its one gripper leg from an open position sunk into the sheet transfer cylinder by approximately 180 degrees into the opposite closed position to the trailing edge of the sheet. This resulting gripper mouth can then perform the above-described pivoting movement during the turning process, in order to avoid kinking of the trailing edge of the sheet.
  • the suction nozzles arranged in front of the mouth of the gripper of the sheet transfer cylinder ensure that the gripper moving into the closed position can always reliably grasp the trailing edge of the sheet. If the suction nozzles are still pivotable in the circumferential direction of the sheet transfer cylinder, even the trailing edge of the sheet can be turned towards them tes gripper mouth of the gripper. After the trailing edge of the sheet has been sucked in, the suction nozzles initially pivot in the circumferential direction of the sheet transfer cylinder and thus cause the loop to be slightly looped on the leading edge by the additional grippers. Then the suction nozzles swivel back and push the trailing edge of the sheet into the open mouth of the gripper in conjunction with smoothing the sheet.
  • the sheet trailing edge is thus optimally fixed for the subsequent turning process.
  • An improved adhesion between the sheet support and the sheet is achieved by a friction lining assigned to the sheet support.
  • a friction lining assigned to the sheet support.
  • a suction nozzle can also be assigned to the sheet support belt.
  • chain gripper systems it is also possible to assign chain gripper systems to the belt. However, it is always ensured that the leading edge of the sheet is optimally transported through the sheet support.
  • the sheet-fed rotary printing press illustrated schematically in FIG. 1 has a plurality of printing units 1, 2 and 3 arranged in series in a row.
  • Each printing unit contains a printing cylinder 4,5,6, a rubber cylinder 7,8,9 and a plate cylinder 10,11,12.
  • the inking units assigned to the plate cylinders are not shown.
  • the sheets 13 to be printed are fed in a known manner to the printing cylinder 4 of the first printing unit 1 through a feed drum 14 located on the machine input side.
  • a sheet transfer cylinder 15 is arranged between the printing cylinders 4 and 5 of the two first printing units 1, 2.
  • Another sheet transfer cylinder 16 extends between the printing cylinders 5 and 6.
  • the axes of rotation 17, 18 of the sheet transfer cylinders 15/16 lie below the axes 19, 20, 21 of the printing cylinders. Otherwise, the diameter of the sheet transfer cylinder 15, 16 is three times that of the blanket cylinder 7, 8, 9.
  • Two rows of clamping grippers 22 are provided for holding the sheets 13 on the printing cylinder 4 of the first printing unit 1 in a diametrically opposed position on the printing cylinder 4.
  • the sheet transfer cylinder 15 adjoining the first printing cylinder 4 is equipped with three pliers-like grippers 23 arranged in the same angular distribution. In the sheet transfer cylinder direction of rotation, these pliers grippers 23 are adjacent to suction nozzles 24 which are pivotably mounted in the circumferential direction of the sheet transfer cylinder 15. The latter are seated on three segments S which are adjustably arranged in the circumferential direction of the sheet transfer cylinder 15 and which lie in recesses in the sheet transfer cylinder and whose back ends with the periphery of the sheet transfer cylinder.
  • the sheet transfer cylinder 15 in the vicinity of the pliers grippers then has three rows of additional grippers 25 arranged in the same circumferential distribution.
  • a sheet support 26 is arranged downstream of the sheet transfer cylinder 15.
  • the latter has a substantially flat-shaped and approximately tangential to the sheet transfer cylinder 15 support top 27.
  • the arrangement of the sheet support 26 lying in a horizontal plane is such that it is provided in the gusset Z between the sheet transfer cylinder 15 and the printing cylinder 5 following it below it.
  • the peripheral surface of the sheet transfer cylinder 15 projects beyond the end 28 of the sheet support 26 on the side of the sheet transfer cylinder and accordingly also forms a gusset 29 there.
  • the sheet support 26 is designed as a circumferential band 30.
  • Two end pulleys 31, 32 are used to guide the same. One or both of them can be driven so that the belt 30 transports in the conveying direction x, which direction corresponds to the direction of rotation y of the sheet transfer cylinder 15.
  • the transport speed of the belt 30 corresponds to the peripheral speed of the sheet transfer cylinder 15.
  • the support formed by the belt 30 Top 27 is curved in the direction of the pressure cylinder 5.
  • additional rollers which are not illustrated, can be provided. In cardboard processing combined with a certain stiffness of the sheet, only a corresponding guide plate would suffice as a sheet support.
  • suction nozzles 33 assigned to the sheet support band 30 are illustrated with arrows. However, it is also possible to provide the sheet support band 30 with a corresponding friction lining.
  • the contact point 34 between the first impression cylinder 4 and the sheet transfer cylinder 15 is followed by a blow air nozzle 35 designed in the form of an arcuate section. This blowing air nozzle is used when the sheets 13 are made of paper.
  • the downstream printing cylinder 5 is also equipped with two rows of clamping grippers 36 arranged in diametrically opposed positions.
  • the sheet-fed rotary printing press is set to face and back printing.
  • the sheet 13 transferred from the feed drum 14 to the impression cylinder 4 is gripped on the sheet leading edge 13 'by a series of clamping grippers 22 and receives the first pressure on its front side after a corresponding passage.
  • the leading edge 13 'of the sheet reaches the area of a row of the additional grippers 25 of the transfer cylinder 15, which come into the clamping position towards the leading edge 13' of the sheet.
  • the sheet 13 is taken along by it in the direction of rotation y of the sheet transfer cylinder 15.
  • the trailing edge 13 ′′ is taken along by pivoting the suction nozzles 24 in the direction of rotation of the sheet transfer cylinder y.
  • the bow forms 13 by upsetting a loop 40, due to the fact that the sheet leading edge 13 'is held by the additional grippers 25.
  • the dot-dash position according to FIG. 5 is reached, in which the gripper mouth 38 points in the direction of rotation y of the sheet transfer cylinder 15.
  • the forceps gripper 23 then, after passing through the opposing face to the facing sheet support end 28, executes a turning movement in such a way that its gripper jaw 38 rotates the sheet transfer cylinder Direction y is directed in the opposite direction, see illustration with full lines in Fig. 5.
  • the bow 13 is turned.
  • the trailing edge of the sheet 13 ′′ is not subject to any kinking or bending during this process. From FIG. 5 it can then still be seen that an overlap of the sheet transfer cylinder end 28 from the peripheral surface of the sheet transfer cylinder 15 results in an additional displacement path a which accelerates the sheet the sheet support 26 leads.
  • the sheet rear edge 13 ′′ of the sheet 13 reaches the area of the corresponding clamping grippers 36 of the second printing cylinder 5, which clamping grippers take over the sheet rear edge 13 ′′ from the pliers grippers 23.
  • This process can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3. Since the trailing edge of the sheet 13 "is not damaged or kinked, this can always be carried out without problems, so that the sheet 13 between the blanket cylinder 8 and the impression cylinder 5 receives the pressure on its rear side.
  • the pliers gripper is designated by the number 41. It has the inner gripper leg 42 and the outer gripper leg 43. The latter is found before passing the contact point 34 between the first printing cylinder 4 and the sheet transfer cylinder 15 in an open position sunk into the sheet transfer cylinder 15. The trailing edge of the sheet 13 "is sucked in and held by the suction nozzles 44. The suction nozzles then pivot against the direction of rotation of the sheet transfer cylinder from the position shown in full lines by a small angle of rotation into the dot-dash position while tensioning and smoothing the sheet.
  • the pliers grippers 41 are also such that they perform a pivoting movement, as in the embodiment described above, such that the pliers jaw 45 is always in the plane of the Arc 13 when turning the same.
  • the surface of the sheet transfer cylinder 15 is rough and chrome-plated.
  • the other sheet transfer cylinder 16 can be designed to be equivalent. If necessary, this can also interact with a corresponding sheet support.
