Definitions

  • the invention relates to a register system for registering a flexible printing plate on the plate cylinder of a rotary printing machine with at least two registration holes provided in the printing plate and register marks associated therewith in the plate cylinder.
  • the plate is aligned indirectly on the cylinder, i.e. first means are provided for aligning the plate in the tensioning rails and, in addition, second means for aligning the tensioning rails on the cylinder.
  • the second group avoids this detour.
  • the plate is aligned directly with the cylinder body.
  • the present invention is to be assigned to this.
  • DE-PS 830 343 describes a method for fitting clamping plates in which, after the printing plate has been copied, coarse perforations are punched in the area so that the register crosses can be made to coincide with cross-shaped registration marks provided on the plate cylinder .
  • This method has proven itself quite well over the past few years, since it is a direct and relatively fast method for aligning a printing plate, in which plate deformations by the printing plate clamping rails have no adverse effect on the adjustment system.
  • this device has the disadvantage that the two coarse perforations are not part of a register system and the alignment takes place exclusively according to the registration marks copied onto the plate.
  • a corresponding disadvantage of this device in practice is that there is no possibility of correction in the case of a disc copied obliquely. Should e.g. one side of the plate is corrected against the other side and if the plate already touches the stops, then at best the plate tension on the corresponding side can first be released, e.g. to get a parallel print start line. Following this operation, an additional circumferential register adjustment of the entire plate cylinder is required. A corresponding facility is therefore essential.
  • the present invention has for its object to provide an easy-to-use register system, which inevitably guarantees the accuracy already achieved in the manufacture of the printing plate, even when used in the machine, and which enables precise alignment of a printing plate in the shortest possible time without Damage and warping of register punchings possible.
  • This object is achieved according to the invention with a register system of the type mentioned at the outset in that the registration marks are designed as similar surfaces which are at a maximum at the level of the printing plate surface and are smaller compared to the registration punchings and which contrast with the area surrounding them and are visible through the registration punchings .
  • the clamping, tensioning and adjusting of the printing plates remains without an adverse influence on the punching of the register system and the printing plates can be brought into a fit position quickly, even with repeated use, regardless of deformations and damage in the leading edge clamping area, so that an accurate register is obtained
  • Multi-color printing practically always eliminates the need to readjust the printing plates, although the system permits readjustment.
  • the punched holes can also be used as an adjustment aid when copying the printing plates.
  • the area surrounding the smaller areas is formed by contrasting shadow gaps in a further development of the inventive concept.
  • the shadow gaps visible through the punched punchings have a uniform width of a few tenths of a millimeter.
  • the fitting punchings and the surfaces similar to them are circular.
  • the circle as a perfectly symmetrical figure offers an optimal possibility for alignment.
  • Another embodiment of the invention consists in the fact that the die-cuts and the surfaces similar to them are polygonal are formed, since straight shadow gaps can also be used to achieve precise optical alignment.
  • An expedient embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the end faces directed against the pressure plate of register bolts are provided as similar surfaces and are fastened in the plate cylinder.
  • a structurally so simple arrangement and a solution that is favorable in terms of production technology also makes it possible to retrofit existing plate cylinders with the register system.
  • the similar surfaces serving for the adjustment of the printing plate can easily be exchanged and replaced if they are dirty or worn.
  • adjustable holding pieces 4 are fastened with an exact spacing and axially parallel to each other.
  • An intermediate support 6, which is height-adjustable by means of set screws 5, is screwed onto each holding piece 4.
  • the intermediate carrier 6 is provided with a through hole 7 which serves to receive a register bolt 8.
  • the register bolt 8 is provided at its end facing a pressure plate 9 projecting into the cylinder channel 1 with a fixed plug-in sleeve 10, which is provided on the end face with a circular recess 11 and is flush with the end face 12 of the register bolt 8.
  • the end face 12 of the register bolt 8 and the plug-in sleeve 10 fastened thereon are ground flat together and polished to a similar finish to the printing plate surface.
  • the base area of the circular recess 11 surrounding the register bolt 8 is designed with high contrast to the end face 12 of the register bolt 8 enclosed by it and to the circular ring surface of the plug-in sleeve 10 and the surface of the pressure plate 9, which e.g. can be done by matting.
  • the circular cutout 11 is preferably colored black and thus forms a strong, visually recognizable contrast with the aforementioned surfaces.
  • the pressure plate 9 protruding into the cylinder channel 1 is by means of clamping screws 15 schematically shown in FIG. is known from DE-PS 23 10 228, clamped in its clamping area 19.
  • the printing plate 9 has already been provided at the start of printing with two circular fitting punchings 14, the diameter of which is a few tenths of a millimeter larger than that of the end faces 12, during manufacture or before the plate copy by means of a register punch in the area of the register bolts 8 the register bolt 8. Due to the darker design of the circular recesses 11 compared to their surroundings, the areas visible from above the pressure plate 9, which lie between the punched holes 14 and the register bolt 8, form clearly perceptible, high-contrast shadow gaps 16.
  • the pressure plate is clamped in a known manner by means of the clamping screws 15 in the clamping rails IV .
  • the printer uses the two axially parallel, circular die-cuts 14 on the pressure plate 9 to face the end faces 12 located on the register bolts 8 align them.
  • the printer Before the alignment, the printer is presented with an image, as shown in FIG. 3.
  • the two fitting punchings 14 of the pressure plate 9 are offset eccentrically from the end faces 12 of the register bolts 8 which are similar to this. This is particularly clearly perceived by the eccentric offset of the shadow gaps 16 surrounding the end faces 12 relative to the associated fitting punchings 14.
  • the printing plate leading edge held by the printing plate clamping rails is now adjusted and adjusted until a concentric correspondence between the two fitting punchings 14 of the printing plate 9 and the two end faces 12 of the register bolts 8 is established. (See Fig. 4).
  • a warping or upsetting of the leading edge of the printing plate due to its clamping remains completely without influence on the fitting punchings 14 of the register system used, so that the printing plates 9 provided with this and already aligned are easily used several times, i.e. can be repeatedly tensioned and freshly adjusted without losing the accuracy of the register system already achieved during manufacture.
  • this register system can be used alone or as a supplement to existing coarser fitting systems due to its accuracy mentioned above.
  • a third register pin 8 in the same structural arrangement can additionally be provided in the center, as shown in FIG. 5, on the side of the cylinder channel 1 facing the print end. Since different printing lengths can also result in the circumferential direction due to different dressing strengths, for this reason it is also not possible to use individual circular fitting punchings 14 according to those at the start of printing. Instead, the rear pressure plate area must be provided with an elongated hole 20, the lateral edges of which in the aligned state of the pressure plate 9 must have the same distance from the end face 12 of the rear register bolt 8 (FIG. 5). Essential to the invention is, however, an additional register bolt 8 located at the end of the print.
  • the register bolts 8 are each provided on their end facing the pressure plate 9 with a circular projection 21 which is designed with a slightly smaller diameter than the associated circular fitting punch 14 of the pressure plate 9.
  • the shadow gaps 16 In this embodiment, the part of the circular ring surfaces of the register bolts 8 which surrounds the circular projections 21 and which is visible through the circular fitting punchings 14 of the pressure plate.
  • a second exemplary embodiment of the register system shown in FIG. 7 has, as shadow gaps in the front of the register bolts 8, annular grooves 22, the inside diameter of which is slightly smaller, preferably a few tenths of a millimeter, than that of the associated fitting punchings 14 of the pressure plate 9.
  • the ring grooves 22 are preferably black designed.
  • the shadow gaps 16 result from the ring groove regions which can be seen from above the pressure plate 9 and lie between the fitting punchings and the inner diameter of the ring grooves 22.
  • the register bolts 8 of a third exemplary embodiment of the register system are provided on the end face with blind holes 23 of slightly smaller diameter than that of the fitting punchings 14 of the pressure plate 9.
  • a separate contrasting of individual surfaces is not absolutely necessary, but is useful for increasing the contrast effect, since the contrast of the surface relevant for the alignment of the printing plate 9 results from the blind hole base 24, which is darker than its surroundings, and which depends on the depth of the blind hole holes 23 can be lighter or darker ( Figure 8).
  • the annular grooves 22 are embedded directly in the surface of the plate cylinder 2 without the interposition of register bolts 8.
  • similar surfaces serving the pressure plate 9 act from the annular grooves 22.
  • the shadow gaps 16 are formed by the areas of the high-contrast colored ring grooves 22 which are visible from above the pressure plate 9 and which lie between the circular fitting punchings 14 and the inner diameter of the ring grooves 22.
  • the similar surfaces used for plate adjustment can also be polygonal instead of circular.
  • the fitting punchings 14 of the pressure plate 9 and the similar smaller end faces 12 of the register bolts 8 are triangular, preferably as equilateral triangles.
  • the end faces 12 are located on the end triangular projections 25 of the register bolts 8.
  • the areas of the offset register bolts 8 lying between the fitting punchings 14 and the projections 25 form the shadow gaps 16 seen from above the pressure plate 9.
