Description
Gegenstand des Patents sind Maßnahmen,
um Schmierölen während des Betriebes die Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen Oxydation oder
Zersetzung für die Zeit ihrer Benutzung dadurch zu sichern, daß die Konzentration der
die Oxydation und Zersetzung behindernden Schutzstoffe in den Ölen während des Gebrauches
dauernd auf gleicher Höhe gehalten wird. Das geschieht erfindungsgemäß dadurch,
>o daß dem Öl aus der Klasse der Schutzstoffe
gegen Oxydation und Schlammbildung solche
, Verbindungen dauernd zugesetzt werden, die
im Öl schwer löslich sind, und diese Verbindungen mit den Schmierölen während des
Betriebes immer wieder in Berührung gebracht werden. Hierzu kann z. B. ein Ölfilter
üblicher Konstruktion benutzt werden.
Die Erfindung soll im folgenden an Hand der beiliegenden Zeichnung erläutert werden.
Die als Beispiel dargestellte Vorrichtung ist durch die amerikanische Patentschrift
ι 914999 bekanntgeworden. Sie besteht aus
einem äußeren Gehäuse 1, einem inneren Gehäuse 2, einer Ölzuleitung 3, durch die das Öl
eingeführt wird, und einem konzentrisch angeordneten Raum 4, der zur Ableitung des
Öles aus der Filtermasse 5 dient. Das Gehäuse 2 ist mit faserigen Verteilungsstoffen 5,
wie Wolle, Asbest, Schlackenwolle, Glaswolle o. dgl., gefüllt, das erfindungsgemäß vorher
mit dem in Öl schwer löslichen Oxydationsbzw, Zersetzungsschutzstoff imprägniert oder
sonstwie beladen wurde. Der Schutzstoff 6 ist in der Füllung des Gehäuses 2 gleichmäßig
verteilt.
Schmieröle und besonders solche für Verbrennungsmotoren müssen unter Umständen
hohen Temperaturen widerstehen können. Bei diesen Arbeitsbedingungen kommt es oft zu
mehr oder weniger schneller Bildung von
Zersetzung^- oder Oxydationsprodukten, die
als Säuren, Schlamm und Harzbildung in die Erscheinung treten. Man hat bis zu einem
gewissen Grade vermocht, durch Zusatz von Schutzstoffen die Oxydation und damit die
Schlammbildung zu verzögern und zu vermindern. Wenn dieses auch gelingt, so sind
die Schutzstoffe auf der anderen Seite, wie festgestellt wurde, oft eine Quelle anderer
ίο Schwierigkeiten.
Viele dieser Schutzstoffe werden, während
der Motor läuft, sehr schnell verbraucht, und man muß, wenn das öl während der ganzen
normalen Zeit seiner Benutzung gegen Zer-Setzung geschützt sein soll, den Schutzstoff
in erheblichem Überschuß dem Öl zusetzen, und zwar so, daß, wenn der Schutzstorr verbraucht
ist, auch der Zeitpunkt erreicht ist, zu dem das Öl erneuert werden muß. Es ist indes bekannt, daß eine derartige Über
lastung des Öles mit Oxydationsbehinderern die Neigung des Öles zur Schlammbildung
steigert, wie durch die Sligh-Probe vielfach festgestellt werden konnte. Wenn man andeinerseits,
um eine unerwünschte Schlammbildung zu vermeiden, die von vornherein dem Öl zugesetzte Menge des Oxydationsbehinderers
stark herabsetzt, dann neigt das Öl gegen Ende der Arbeitsperiode zu einer sehr schnell eintretenden Veränderung. Man kann
dagegen bis zu einem gewissen Grade damit sich helfen, wenn man den Schutzstoff nach
und nach zusetzt und Zeit und Menge der Zusätze dem jeweilig benutzten Öl anpaßt,
d. h. also in dem Maße, wie der Schutzstoff verbraucht wird, solchen erneut in der benötigten
Menge zusetzt. Die Schwierigkeiten einer solchen Bemessung sind aber in der Praxis so groß, daß es bis jetzt nicht gehingen
ist, ein derartiges Verfahren in einfacher Form zu entwickeln.
Dieses Problem wird erfindungsgemäß dadurch gelöst, daß als Schutzstoff solche Verbindungen
benutzt werden, die man wegen ihrer schweren Löslichkeit in öl bisher für
diesen Zweck als unbrauchbar ansah. Es gelingt auf diesem Wege, den Widerstand des
Öles gegen Oxydation und Zersetzung während seiner Benutzung aufrechtzuerhalten,
ohne das Öl von vornherein mit Zusätzen zu überlasten und ohne komplizierte mechanische
Vorkehrungen treffen zu müssen. Es gibt eine große Anzahl von Stoffen, deren vorteilhafte Wirkung als ölschutzstoffe gegen
Oxydation und Zersetzungen bekannt ist, die aber schwer löslich in Öl sind, und zwar auch
bei den Temperaturen, die Öle im Betrieb annehmen können. Diese Stoffe wurden wegen
ihrer Schwerlöslichkeit in öl als Schutzstoffe gegen Oxydation und Zersetzung abgelehnt.
Für das vorliegende Verfahren sind sie gerade dieser Schwerlöslichkeit wegen vorzüglich
geeignet. Von diesen Stoffen kommen in erster Linie substituierte aromatische Stoffe
in Betracht, die auch bei den Arbeitstemporaturen, denen das Schmieröl ausgesetzt sein
kann, noch genügend schwer löslich sind, wie schwefelsubstituierte Phenole, besonders alkylfreie,
darunter Diphenoldisulfid, Diphenylsulfid. Ferner kommen die Phenylmercaptane
und -polysulfide in Betracht, die entsprechenden Naphthol-, Anthrol- und Phenanthrolverbindungen,
geschwefeltes Holzkreosot, geschwefelte Kresole, Thiophenyl-ß-naphthylamin,
schwer öllösliche Metallseifen und andere metallorganische Verbindungen.
Die technische Benutzung dieser Schutzstoffe besteht darin, mit ihnen eine Vorratsstelle zu schaffen, durch die ein erheblicher
Teil des in der oder den Verwendungsstellen benutzten Schmieröles hindurchfließt, um in
seinem Widerstand gegen Oxydation und Zersetzung wieder aufgefrischt in den Motor
zurückzukehren. Das Öl nimmt nur die seinem Lösiingsvermögen entsprechende Menge
Schutzstoff auf, die sich durch Auswahl des schwer löslichen Zusatzes je nach der Natur
des Öles, der Motortemperatur und dem Schmierbedarf einstellen läßt.
Ebenso nimmt, wenn der Gehalt an Schutzstoff im Öl unterhalb der Sättigung liegt, das
Öl aus dem Reservevorrat des Schutzstoffes die zur Sättigung noch benötigte Menge davon
auf. Auf diese Weise gelingt es, den Widerstand des Öles während der gesamten Dauer
seiner Benutzung auf optimaler Höhe zu halten ohne die Überlastung des Öles mit dem
Schutzstoff und ohne die damit verbundene Beschleunigung der Schlammbildung. Ebenso
ist die Gefahr eines plötzlichen Mangels an loc
Schutzstoff ausgeschaltet.
Man kann das den Schutzstoffvorrat bergende Gefäß als besonderen Maschinenteil
ausbilden; am einfachsten aber ist es, die Rolle des üblichen ölfilters zu erweitern und i«5
es als Vorratsgefäß für die schwer löslichen Schutzstoffe zu benutzen. Für diese Benutzung
geeignete Ölfilter sind z. B. auch in den amerikanischen Patentschriften 2071 529 und
550 beschrieben. Derartige Filter brauchen nur mit einer auswechselbaren oder wieder füllbaren Kartusche mit porösem oder
faserigem Material, wie Ton, Baumwolle, Asbest, Glaswolle, ausgestattet zu werden. Um
derartige Filter dem Zwecke der Erfindung anzupassen, wird das poröse Füllmaterial der
Kartusche mit dem fein verteilten Schutzstoff beladen oder gemischt. Es kann aber auch
der Schutzstoff in Form von festen oder halbfesten Brocken, porösen Stücken oder als
Imprägnation poröser Körper in der Filterkammer angeordnet sein, jedenfalls aber so,
daß er dauernd mit dem die Filterkammer durchströmenden Öl in Berührung bleibt.
Um den Effekt dieser Betriebsweise festzustellen, wurden zwei Untersuchungsreihen an
Ölen gemacht, die aus den Kurbelgehäusen einer Reihe von Automobilmotoren gesammelt
waren. Die Öle beider Versuchsreihen mußten durch ein übliches, mit Baumwollabfällen gefülltes
Ölfilter umlaufen. Der Umlauf dauerte
to immer 3 Stunden; das Öl stand unter einem Druck von 1,4. Atm. bei einer Temperatur
von 93,3° C. Die Apparatur wurde nach jedem Umlauf gereinigt. Bei dem ersten Umlauf war
das Filter immer mit Baumwollabfällen allein gefüllt, bei dem zweiten Umlauf waren stets
log Phenolsulfid in der Baumwolle verteilt.
Die filtrierten Öle wurden dann folgenden Prüfungen unterworfen :
ι. Bestimmung der Bleitoleranz nach U η ao
der wood, als Bleizahl des Öles gegeben;
sie ist ein Maß für die Neigung des Öles, Metalle zu korrodieren.
2. Bestimmung der Farbe mit dem Tag-Robinson-Kolorimeter.
3. Bestimmung der Säurezahl nach dem ASTM-Test D 188-27 T.
4. Bestimmung der Verseifungszahl nach dem ASTM-Test D 94-36.
5. Bestimmung der Sauerstoffaufnahme mittels Durchleiten von Sauerstoff durch
10 g Öl bei 93,3° C im geschlossenen Apparat und Messung des absorbierten
Sauerstoffes in Intervallen von 15 Minuten.
Diese Underwood-Prüfungsmethode, die bis jetzt noch nicht veröffentlicht ist, besteht
darin, daß 1500 ecm Öl auf 1620C erhitzt
und bei dieser Temperatur 5 Stunden gegen ein Lager aus Kupfer-Blei-Legierung und ein
solches aus Cadmium-Silber-Legierung verspritzt werden. Die Tropföle werden in den
Kreislauf zurückgeführt. Die Lager werden vor und nach der Behandlung gewogen, um
Gewichtsverluste festzustellen. Die Probe wird dann wiederholt unter Zusatz einer löslichen
Bleiverbindung, z. B. Bleioleat, und mit Steigerung um je 0,0050/0 (Gewicht) Blei. Ein
Gewichtsverlust von 50 mg bedeutet, daß die Grenze der Bleitoleranz überschritten ist; eine
Bleitoleranz unter 0,02 hat als unzulässig zu gelten.
Es wurden folgende Zahlen erhalten:

Die Bleizahl ist eine prozentuelle Angabe für die Gewichtsmenge Bleioleat, als Bleioxyd
gerechnet, die von einem Öl aufgenommen werden kann, bevor ein Metall,
gegen das das Öl entleert wird, einen Gewichtsverlust von 50 mg aufweist. Bei einem
frischen Öl ist eine Bleitoleranz unter 0,02 ungenügend. Bemerkenswert ist die hohe Bleitoleranz
des Öles nach Passieren des Filters und Kontakt mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Schutzstoff im Vergleich mit dem nur gefilterten
Öl.
Claims (1)
- Patentanspruch:Verfahren zur Versorgung des Schmieröles in Maschinen, insbesondere Motoren mit innerer Verbrennung während des Betriebes mit Schutzstoffen gegen Oxydation und Schlammbildung, dadurch, gekennzeichnet, daß das Schmieröl fortlaufend oder von Zeit zu Zeit von der· Verwendungsstelle einem schwer im Öl löslichen Schutzstoff enthaltenden Gefäß, z. B. einem mit Verteilungsmaterial beschickten Ölfilter, zugeführt und nach dem Verlassen des Gefäßes wieder der Verwendungsstelle zugeleitet wird.Hierzu ι Blatt Zeichnungen
