Als Katalysatoren werden für die Polymerisation radikalische Katalysatoren in Mengen von 0,05 bis
l°/0, bezogen auf das Gewicht des polymerisierbaren
Hydroxyalkylesters, eingesetzt, und zwar vorzugsweise 0,1 bis 0,2 °/0 des Monomeren. Im allgemeinen
werden nur 10 bis 20°/0 des Katalysators zuerst dem Monomeren zugegeben, und der Rest wird dann der
Tauchmasse nach der teilweisen Polymerisation zugesetzt. Typische Katalysatoren sind unter anderem
t-Butylperoctoat, Benzoylperoxyd,. Isopropylpercarbonat,
Methyläthylketonperoxyd, Cumolhydroperoxyd und Dicumylperoxyd. Die Polymerisation kann auch
durch Bestrahlung, z. B. mit UV-Licht oder Gammastrahlen, durchgeführt oder unterstützt werden. Im
allgemeinen wird in einem Bereich von 20 bis 150°C und gewöhnlich zwischen 40 und 90° C polymerisiert.
Im folgenden soll die Erfindung an Hand von Beispielen und im Zusammenhang mit der Zeichnung
näher erläutert werden; es zeigt

Der in F i g. 1 gezeigte Katheter besteht aus natürlichem Gummi, dessen Schnabel 12 zwei Durchtrittsöffnungen

Augen 14 ist ein Balg 20 um den Katheterschaft angeordnet,
um eine bessere Halterung des eingeführten Katheters durch Aufblasen über eine Luftleitung 24
zu ermöglichen. Die Luftleitung 24 zweigt kurz vor dem Pavillon 18 über einen Arm 26, der in ein Ansatzstück
28 ausläuft, ab.
Zürn"'Beschichten wird der Katheter 10 mit"-dem
Schnabel 12 in das Tauchbad bis zur Abzweigstelle 30 ■zwischen Pavillon und Luftzufuhr oder bis etwa 3 bis
•5 cm vor "(lieser Abzweigung eingetaucht. Der be'
schichtete Bereich ist in der Zeichnung durch1'Pfeile angegeben. Nach Herausnahme des Katheters aus
dem Tauchbad und Abtropfen wird die Beschichtung32 in einem Ofen gehärtet. Gleichzeitig bildet sich-auch
auf der Innenseite des Katheters eine entsprechende
ίο Schicht 38. Durch" Wiederholung des Tauchvorganges
wird eine" weitere Schicht 34 aufgebracht.
" Der in Fi g.·3 im Schnitt gezeigte"Katheter enthält
durch eine weitere Imprägnierung mit einer Lösung einer antibiotischen Substanz, wie beispielsweise
is Penicillin, diese Substanz 36 gleichmäßig verteilt in
den zweiten Schichten 34 und 38.
Als Tauchlösung wurden die folgenden Mischungen verwendet:
A. 98,5 °/0 teilweise polymerisiertes 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat
und 1,5°/0 Äthylenglycoldimethacrylat.
a5 B. 100 Teile 2-Hydroxyäthylacrylat, 0,2 Teile Äthylenglycoldimethacrylat
und 0,4 Teile t-Butylperoctoat.
C. 100 Teile einer isomeren Mischung von Hydroxyisopropylmethacrylaten,
0,2 Teile Propylenglycoldimethacrylat und 0,4 Teile t-Butylperoctoat.
100 Teile 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat wurden mit
.0,05 Teilen-t-Butylperoctoat unter Stickstoff 30 Minuten bei 40° C gerührt, anschließend auf 25° C abgekühlt
und mit insgesamt 0,15 Gewichtsteilen t-Butylperoctoat versetzt. Anschließend wurden mit einer
weiteren Zugabe von t-Butylperoctoat 0,1 Teile Äthylenglycoldimethacrylat zugesetzt.
Das Äthylenglycoldimethacrylat kann durch 0,2 Teile 1,3-Butylenglycoldimethacrylat ersetzt werden.
100 Teile 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat wurden mit 50 Teilen destilliertem Wasser und 0,1 Teile t-Butylperoctoat
unter anaeroben Bedingungen bei 40° C 20 Minuten lang gerührt, auf 25°C abgekühlt und mit
0,05 Teilen t-Butylperoctoat versetzt. Gleichzeitig wurden 0,2 Teile Äthylenglycoldimethacrylat als Vernetzungsmittel
zugesetzt.
Bei einem weiteren Versuch wurde ohne Wasser gearbeitet; bei einem anderen Versuch wurde zuerst
mit einem Katalysator aus 0,05 Teilen t-Butylperoctoat und 0,1 Teil Isopropylpercarbonat und einer weiteren
^55 Katalysatorzugabe von 0,05 Teilen Isopropylpercarbonat
gearbeitet.
100 g destilliertes 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat wurden mit 0,1 g t-Butylperoctoat unter anaeroben Bedingungen
15 bis 40 Minuten bei 25 bis 70° C verrührt, auf 25° C abgekühlt und mit t-Butylperoctoat bis zu
einer Gesamtkonzentration von 0,2 g Katalysator je 100 g 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat versetzt. Gleiches
zeitig mit Erhöhung der Katalysatorkonzentration wurde Äthylenglycoldimethacrylat in einer Menge von
0,2 g je 100 g 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat zugesetzt. An Stelle des 2-Hydroxyäthylme'.hacrylats wurde in
einem anderen Versuch Hydroxypropylmethacrylat (Verwendet. Bei einem weiteren Versuch wurde Isopropylpercarbonat
als Katalysator verwendet und an Stelle des Äthylenglycoldimethacrylats jetzt 1,3-Buty-Jenglycoldimethacrylat
verwendet.
Gereinigtes 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat wurde mit
0,15 g Jsopropylpercarbonat unter anaeroben Bedingungen
bei Zimmertemperatur verrührt und mit Äthyienglycoldimethacrylat in einer Konzentration
von 0,1 g je 100 g 2-rlydroxyäthyImethacrylat versetzt.
, , 100 Teile 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat wurden mjt
0,05 Teilen t-Butylperoctoat unter Stickstoff 30 Minuten bei 300C verrührt. Die erhaltene Mischung wurde
auf 25°C abgekühlt und mit weiterem Peroctoat vernetzt,
so daß insgesamt 0,15 Teile Katalysator vorhanden waren. Gleichzeitig wurden 0,10 Teile, bei «p
einem weiteren Versuch 0,20 Teile und bei einem dritten Versuch· 0,15 Teile Äthyienglycoldimethacrylat
zugegeben.
Bei einem Parallelversuch wurden 100 g gereinigtes 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat mit 15 g Äth'ylenglycoldi- «5
incthacrylat und 0,3 g t-Butylperoctoat vermischt.

Ein 20-Liter-Gefäß wurde mit 10 kg 2-Hydroxyäthylmelhacrylat,
150 g ÄthylengLycoldimethacrylat und 4,0 g t-Butylperoctoat beschickt und 50 Minuten
unter Rühren auf 95°G erhitzt. Anschließend wurde schnell abgekühlt. Der erhaltene Sirup, der eine Viskosität
von 42OcP bei 300C hatte, wurde mit 20 g Äthylenglycoldimethacrylat und 20 g t-Butylperoctoat ,35
versetzt und bis zur homogenen Lösung gerührt. ■Dieser Sirup wurde zum Beschichten von den verschiedensten
Kathetern aus Gummi oder anderen flexiblen Polymeren verwendet, die dann für Trans-.fusioncn,
für Tropfinfusionen und andere Zwecke mit gutem Erfolg verwendet wurden.
In einem Parallel versuch wurde das Äthyienglycoldimethacrylat
durch eine gleiche Menge Divinylbenzol ersetzt, wobei ebenfalls eine ausgezeichnete Tauchlösung
für Katheter erhalten wurde.
Ein gebogener Gummikatheter wurde in eine Tauchlösung gemäß Beispiel 4 eingetaucht und anschließend
bei 8O0C unter inerter Atmosphäre poly- ^o
mcrisiert. Anschließend wurde der beschichtete Katheter in eine wäßrige Neomycinsulfatlösung mit
einem Gehalt von 25* g je 100 ml Wasser eingetaucht ,und anschließend getrocknet. Die auf diese Weise
hergestellten Katheter ließen sich ausgezeichnet ver- ^5
wenden, ohne daß Infektionen auftraten.
Ein Gummi katheter mit einer Charrierezahl von
24 und einem Gewicht von 16,55 g wurde mit Xylol So abgespült und bis zu 5 cm unter der Verzweigung in
ein Tauchbad gemäß Beispiel 7 eingebracht. Nach Herausnahme und 5 Minuten Abtropfen wurde der
Überzug 15 Minuten bei 134°C .gehärtet. Der beschichtete Katheter hatte ein Gewicht von 16,71 g und
,halte demzufolge 0,16 g Beschichtung aufgenommen. Anschließend wurde das Beschichten und Härten
wiederholt, wobei eine weitere Gewichtszunahme^auf
16,88 g festgestellt wurde, was einem Gesamtbeschichtungsgewicht von 0,33 g entsprach. Nach einer 30 Se*·
künden dauernden Tauchbehandlung in einem Wasserbad wurde ein fester flexibler und gut an der Gummiunterlage
haftender Überzug erhalten. Selbstverständlich kann der Tauchvorgang je nach der gewünschten
Schichtstärke des hydrophilen Überzuges zwei- bis fünf- oder mehrmal wiederholt werden.
Es wurde gemäß Beispiel 9 gearbeitet, wobei jedoch jetzt der beschichtete Katheter mit einer Lösung von
g Cephalothin in 40 ml Wasser 10 Minuten imprägniert wurde, wobei nach Trocknen insgesamt
mg der antibiotischen Substanz aufgenommen .worden waren. Bei einem Parallelversuch wurde eine
Lösung von 10 g Neomycinsulfat in 40 ml Wasser verwendet:
, Die Katheter wurden als Urethral- und Blasenkatheter
nach dem üblichen Wässern verwendet und bewirkten eine erhebliche Bakterienverringerung im
-Urin nach 7 Tagen Behandlungsdauer. Die gleichen Ergebnisse ■ wurden mit Bacitracin als Bakterizid
erhalten, wobei sich insbesondere die längsame Freigabe
der antibiotischen Oder germiziden Substanzen
aus dem hydrophilen polymeren Überzug vorteilhaft bemerkbar machte.
Claims (7)
1. Beschichteter Katheter, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß er an der Außen-
und/oder Innenwand mit einem hydrophilen Polyacrylat bzw. -msthacrylat, insbesondere mit
einem Hydroxyalkyl- oder einem Hydroxyalkoxyalkyl-acrylat
bzw. -methacrylat.mit jeweils niederen Alkylresten beschichtet ist.
2. Katheter nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Beschichtung ein Mischpolymerisat
aus einem Acrylat bzw. Methacrylat und bis zu 2O°/o eines vernetzbaren Monomsren ist.
3. Katheter nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Beschichtung aus einem Mischpolymerisat
aus 2-HydroxymsthylmsthacryIat und 0,1 bis 2,5 °/0 eines mshrfach. ungesättigten Monomeren
bssteht.
4. Katheter nach Anspruch 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die polymere Schicht mit antibiotisch
oder germizid wirkenden Substanzen imprägniert ist.
5. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Katheters nach Anspruch 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß man einen aus Gummi oder anderen Elastomeren bestehenden Katheter mit einem flüssigen
Überzug eines hydrophilen Acrylates bzw. Msthacrylates überzieht und nach Anquellen des
Katheters den hydrophilen Acrylat- oder Methacrylatüberzug zu einem festen Überzug polymerisiert.
6. Verfahren nach Anspruch ,5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man auf den ersten Überzug einen
weiteren Überzug aus gleichen oder verschiedenen hydrophilen Polymeren aufbringt und dann pDlymsrisiert.
7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 5 und 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man den Acrylat- bzw. Math-
acrylatüberzug nach Polymerisation mit einer Lösung oder Dispersion einer antibiotischen oder
germiziden Substanz imprägniert und anschließend trocknet.
8. Abwandlung des Verfahrens nach Anspruch S
bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man zum
Aufbringen von hydrophilen Acrylaten bzw. Methacrylaten diese in flüssigen Mischungen auf die
Unterlage aufbringt und erst nach Anquellen polymerisiert.
