Kautschuk haben den Nachteil» daß sie trotz richtiger
Asepsis» insbesondere bei länger eingelegten, lathe tern
SU Infektionen und insbesondre zu einem urethralfleber
führen, können.
Die vorliegende Erfindung hat ©loh die Aufgab© gestellt,
neuartige Katheter vorz^sehlag^n, die aufgrund Ihrer
OberfläohenbesohAffenläeit leichter einzuführen sind und
die Insbesondere Infektionamöglichkeiten &u®h bei. längerem Gebrauch ausschalten,,
Zur Lösung dieser Aufgab® wird ein Katheter vorgeschlagen«
weloher dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß er an der Außen-
und/oder Innenwand mit einem hydrophilen Polyacrylat bzw.
-methacrylate Insbesondere mit einem Hydroxyalkyl- oder

einem Hydroxy alkoxy alkyi-aerylat bzw. -meth&orylat mit
jeweils niederen Alkylresten beschichtet ist.
Vorzugsweise besteht die Beschichtung aus einem Misch» polymerisat aus einem Acrylat beziehungsweise Hethacrylat
und bis zu 20 % eines vernetzbaren Monomeren. Hierbei
werden 2-Hydroxymethylmethacrylat und 0,1 bis 2,5 # eines
mehrfach ungesättigten Monomeren bevorzugt. Die derart beschichteten Katheter zeigen ausgezeichnete Oberflächeneigenschaften
hinsichtlich Gleitfähigkeit und Verhindern eines Festklebens oder Verkrustens.
Besonders vorteilhaft 1st es» wenn die polymere Schicht
mit antibiotisch-oder germizidwirkenden Substanzen
imprägniert ist.
Zur Herstellung derartiger Katheter geht man so vor, daß
man einen aus Gummi oder anderen Elastomeren bestehenden Katheter mit einem flüssigen überzug eines hydrophilen
Acrylates bzw. Methacrylates überzieht und nach Anquellen
des Katheters den hydrophilen Acrylat- oder Methacrylat-Uberzug zu einem festen überzug polymerisiert· Hierbei
ist es möglich, daß man auf den ersten Überzug einen weiteren überzug aus gleichen oder verschiedenen,hydrophilen
Polymeren aufbringt und dann polymerisiert*
Zur Herstellung der imprägnierten Beschichtungen wird so vorgegangen, daß man den Acrylat- bzw. MethacrylatUberzug
nach Polymerisation mit einer Lösung oder Dispersion einer antibiotlsohen oder germlziden Substanz imprägniert und
anschließend trocknet. Dieses Verfahren läßt sich allgemein
abwandeln, um hydrophile Acrylate bzw. Methacrylate auf Unterlagen aufzubringen, indem man diese Acrylate bzw.
Methacrylate in flüssigen Mischungen aufbringt und erst
nach Anquellen der Unterlage polymerisiert.

Die Erfindung läßt sieh, auf alle Katheter anwenden,
beispielsweise mit Neiaton-Katheter aus vulkanisiertem
Kautschuk» gerade oder gebogene beziehungsweise doppeltgebogene
Mercier-Katheter, ferner Katheter mit aufgekrtlmmter
knopfförmiger Spitze» wie sie zur Behandlung der
Prostata-Hypertrophie verwendet werden, oder für doppelläufige
Katheter mit besonderem Rohr für Zulauf und Ablauf* Rüeklaufkatheter und Katheter ohne Hohlrohr oder Sonden,
die alle vorzugsweise aus synthetischem Kautschuk* wie
beispielsweise Poly-eis-isopren, Butadienstyrolmischpolymeris&ten.
Butylkautschuk, Silikonkautschuk, wie beispielsweise Polydlmetbylslloxaa oder aus Polyehlorbutadien
oder Polyvinylchlorid hergestellt sein können*
Bei der Herstellung der Überzüge arbeitet man vorzugsweise
nach dem Tauchverfahren, wobei die Tauehflüasigkeit aus
dem Monomeren oder teilweise polymerisiert^ Monomeren besteht, wonach der Überzug dann zu Ende polymerisiert
wird. Will man diokere Besohlchtungen erreichen, kann mit
mehrmaligen Tauchvorgängen gearbeitet werden. Vorzugsweise wird die untere Beschichtung vernetzt, da diese nicht so
gut an dem Gummi haftet, so daß die Polymerisation erst nach Anquellen durchgeführt wird. Auf diese vernetzte
untere Schicht kann dann eine besser haftende zweite Schicht aufgebracht werden·
Die durch Imprägnieren auf die Schicht aufgebrachten antibiotischen
oder germlzlden Stoffe werden auch nach Entfernung des Lösungsmittels von dem hydrophilen überzug
festgehalten· wärmebeständige Antibiotika oder Germizide können von vornherein dem Tauchbad zugesetzt und mitpolymerisiert
werden.

methyl-penicillin, Lincoymycinhydrochlorid, Sulfadiazine
Methylsulfadlazin, Succinoylsulfathiazol, Phthalylsulfathiazol,
Sulfaeetamld, Procaln-penicillin, Streptomycin*
Aureomyein, Tetramycin und quaternär« Ammoniumhalogenide,
wie beispielsweise TrimethylbenzylaramonlunKshlorid, Cetylpyridiniumchlorld,
Triäthyldodecylemmonlurabroiaid oder
Hexachlorophen verwenden werden.
Die hydrophilen Monomere sind vorzugsweise Hydroxyalkylacrylate
oder Hydroxyalkoxyalky !.acrylate bzw- die entsprechenden
Methacrylate, wobei die Alkylreste niedere Alkylreste sind; beispielsweise werden 2-Hydroxyäthylacrylat
bzw· -methacrylat, Diäthylenglycolmonomethacrylat,
Diäthylenglycolmonoacrylat, 2- oder 3-Hydroxypropylacrylat
bzw· -methacrylat oder Dipropylenglycolmonometh«-
acrylat bevorzugt.
Bei Herstellung der Hydroxyalkylmonoacrylate und -methacrylate
wird das Diacrylat oder Dimethacrylat in geringen Mengen gebildet, welches jedoch nicht entfernt werden muß,
da es zur Überzugsbildung und besseren Haftung mitwirkt·
Bei der Herstellung von vernetzten hydrophilen Polymeren ist das Vernetzungsmittel vorzugsweise in Mengen von
0,1 bis 2,5, meist jedoch nicht Ober 2 £ vorhanden, wenngleich auch bis zu 15 oder sogar20 % Vernetzungsmittel
vorhanden sein können. Als Vernetzungsmittel dienen unter anderem Xthylenglycoldlaorylat beziehungsweise -dimethacrylat,
1,2- oder 1,3- oder 1,4-Butylendimethacrylat,
Propylenglycoldiacrylat, Diätjhylenglycoldimethacrylat,
Dipropylenglyooldimethacrylat, DiKthylenglyooldiaorylat,
Pipropylenglycoldiaorylat, Divinylbenzol, Di vinyl toluol,
Diallyltartrat, Allylpyruvat, Al Iy leal eat, Divinyltartrat,

Als Katalysatoren werden für die Polymerisation radikalische
Katalysatoren in Mengen von 0,05 bis 1 %, bezogen
auf das Gewicht des polymerisierbar«» Hyd?oxyalkyle3ters,
eingesetzt, und zwar vorzugsweise O9I bis 0,2 & des
Monomeren. Im allgemeinen werden nur 10 bis 20 % des
Katalysators zuerst dem Monomeren zugegeben und der Rest wird dann der Tauchmasse nach der teilweisen Polymerisation
zugesetzt· !typische Katalysatoren sind unter anderem
t-Butylperoctoat, Benzoylperoxyd, Isopropylpercarbonat,
Methyläthylketonperoxyd, Cumolhydroperoxyd und Dicumylperoxyd·
Die Polymerisation kann auch durch Bestrahlung, z«B· mit UV-Licht oder Gammastrahlen durchgeführt oder
unterstützt werden. Im allgemeinen wird In einem Bereich von 20 bis i50°C und gewöhnlich zwischen 40 und 900C
polymerleiert·
Im folgenden soll die Erfindung anhand von Beispielen
und im Zusammenhang mit der beiliegenden Zeichnung näher

Der in Fig. 1 gezeigte Katheter besteht aus natürlichem Gummi, dessen Schnabel 12 zwei Durchtrittsöffnung^ 14
besitzt, die mit dem Rohrinneren 16 in Verbindung stehen. Anschließend an die Fenster oder Augen 14 ist ein Balg
20 um den Katheterschaft angeordnet, um eine bessere
Halterung des eingeführten Katheters durch Aufblasen über eine Luftleitung 24 zu ermöglichen. Die Luftleitung.24
zweigt kurz vor dem Pavillon 18 über einen Arm 26, der in ein Ansatzstück 28 ausläuft.ab.
Zum Beschichten wird der Katheter 10 mit dem Stehnabel
in das Tauchbad bis zur Abzweigstelle 30 zwischen Pavillon und Luftzufuhr oder bis etwa 3 bis 5 cm vor dieser Abzweigung
eingetaucht. Der beschichtete Bereich ist in der Zeichnung durch Pfeile angegeben· Nach Herausnahme
des Katheters aus dem Tauchbad und Abtropfen wird die
Beschichtung 32 in einem Ofen gehärtet. Gleichzeitig bildet sich auch auf der Innenseite des Katheters eine ent«
sprechende Schicht 38. Durch Wiederholung des Tauehvorganges
wird eine weitere Schicht 34 aufgebracht*
Der in Fig· 3 ϊω Schnitt gezeigte Katheter enthält durch
eine weitere Imprägnierung mit einer Lösung einer antibiotleohen
Substanz, wie beispielsweise Penicillin, diese Substanz 36 gieichmäsaig verteilt in den zweiten Sohlen»
ten 34 und 38.

bei einem anderen Versuch wurde zuerst mit einem Katalysator
aus 0,05 Teilen t-Butylperoctoat und 0,1 Teilen Ieopropylpercarbonat und einer weiteren Katalysatorzugabe

100 g destilliertes 2-Hydroxyäthylmethaerylat wurden mit
0,1 g fr-Butylperoctoat unter anaeroben Bedingungen 15
bis 40 Minuten bei 25 bis JO°C verrührt, auf 25°C abgekühlt
und mit t-Butylperoctoat bis zu einer Gesamtkonzentrat
ion von 0,2 g Katalysator Je 100 g 2-Hydroxyäthylmethäcrylat
versetzt.. Gleichzeitig mit Erhöhung der Kataiysatorkonzentratlon
wAirde Äthyl englycoldimethacryl at
in einer Menge von 0,2 g Je 100 g 2-Hydroxyäthylmethacrylat.zugesetzt·
Anstelle des 2-HydroxyHthylmethacrylats ^iurde in einem
anderen Versuch Hydroxypropylraethacrylat verwendet. Bei
einem weiteren Versuch wurde Isopropylpercarbonat als Katalysator verwendet und anstelle des Äthylenglycoldimethaerylats

2-Hydroxyathylraethacrylat versetzt*
Beispiel 6 i
100 Teile 2-Hydroxygthylmethaorylat wurden mit 0,05
t-Butylperootoat unter Stickstoff 30 Minuten bei 3O°C
verrührt· Die erhaltene Miechungwurde auf 25°C abgekühlt und alt weiteren Peroctoat versetzt, so daß insgeeamt 0,15 Teile Katalysator vorhanden war«!· Oieioh-

zeltig wurden 0,10 Teile, bei einem x*eiteren Versuch
0,20 Teile und bei einem dritten Versuch 0,15 Teile
Äfchylenglycoldimethacrylat sugegeben.
Bei einem Parallelversuch wurden 100 g gereinigtes
2-Hydroxyäthylmethaorylat mit 15 g Äthylenglyeoldiraethacrylat
und 0,5 g t-Butylperoetoat vermischt«
Ein 20-Liter-GefäS wurde mit 10 kg 2-Hydrosyäthylraethaorylat,
I50 g Äthylenglycoldimethacrylat und 4,0 g
t-Butylperoctoat beschickt und 50 Minuten unter Rühren
auf 950C erhitzt. Anschließend wurde schnell abgekühlt»
Der erhaltene Sirup, der eine Viskosität von 420 cP bei 30°C hatte, wurde mit 20 g Äthylemglycoldlmethaorylat
und 20 g t-Butylperoctoat versetzt und bis zur homogenen
Lösung gertthrt. Dieser Sirup wurde zum Besehiahten von
den verschiedensten Kathetern aus Gummi oder anderen flexiblen Polymeren verwendet, die dann für Transfusionen,
für TropfInfusionen und andere Zwecke mit gutem Erfolg
verwendet wurden.
Xn einem Parallelversuch wurde das Äthylenglyaoldijnethacrylat
durch eine gleiche Menge Divinylbenzol ersetzt,
wobei ebenfalle eine ausgezeichnete Tauchlösung für Katheter erhalten wurde«,
Sin gebogener Gummikatheter wurde in eine TauohlSsung ge»
mais« Beispiel 4 eingetaucht und, anschließend bei 80 C
unter inerter AfcaosphSr© polymerisiert. Anschließend wurde
der beiohiohtete Katheter in eine wässrige Neomycin-
«ulfatlö*ung alt ei&m öehalt von 25 g je 100 ml Wasser

eingetaucht und anschließend getrocknet. Die'auf diese
Weise hergestellten Katheter ließen sich ausge.seiehneif
verwenden, ohne daß Infektionen auftraten.
Ein Gummikatheter mit einer Charrierezahl von 2K und
einem Gewicht von 16,55 g wurde mit Xylol abgespühlt und
bis zu 5 cm unter der Verzweigung in ein Tauchbad geraäss
Beispiel 7 eingebracht. Nach Herausnahme und 5 Minuten
Abtropfen wurde der Oberzug 15 Minuten bei IJk0Q gehärtet.
Der beschichtete Katheter hatte ein Gewicht von 16,71 g
und hatte demzuf olge O9 16 g Beschichtung aufgenommen. Anschließend
wurde das Beschichten und Härten wiederholt, wobei, eine weitere Gewichtszunahme auf 16,88 g festgestellt
wurde» was einem Gesamtbesehichtungsgewiöht von
O»J>3 S entsprach. Nach einer 30 Sekunden dauernden 'rauchbehandlung
in einem Wasserbad wurde ein fester flexibler
und gut an der Gummiunterlage haftender überaus erhalten. Selbstverständlich kann der Tauchvorgang je nach der gewünschten
Söhichts'tHrke des hydrophilen -Überzuges zwei
bis fünf oder mehrmal wiederholt werden.
Es wurde gemäss Beispiel 9 gearbeitet, wobei jedoch t1etat
der beschichtete Katheter mit einer Lösung von 10 g Cephalothin in 40 ml Wasser 10 Minuten imprägniert wurde,
wobei naoh Trocknen insgesamt 90 mg der antibiotischen
Substanz aufgenommen worden waren. Bei einem Parallelversuch
wurde eine Lösung von 10 g Neomycinsulfat in 40 ml Wasser verwendet»
Die Katheter wurden als Urethral- und Blasenkatheter nach
dem Üblichen Wässern verwendet und bewirkten eine erheb-

Die gleichen. Ergebnisse wurden mit Bacitracin als Bakterizid erhalten , wobei sich insbesondere die langsame
Freigabe der antibiotischen oder gsrmiaiden Substanzen
aus dem hydrophilen polymeren überzug vorteilhaft bemerkbar machte.

Claims (1)
- V 12 -Pat entansprüchel.J Katheter, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß er an der Außen- und/oder Innenwand mit einem hydrophilen. Polyacrylat bzw« -raethacryl&t, insbesondere mit einem Hydroxyalkyl- oder einem Hydroscyalkoxyalkyl-acrylat bzw. -methacrylat mit jeweils niederen Alkylresten beschichtet ist.2, Katheter nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Beschichtung ein Mischpolymerisat aus einem Acryl at bzw· Methacrylat und bis zu 20 % eines vernetzbaren Monomeren 1st.J5. Katheter nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Beschichtung aus einem Nischpolymerisat aus 2-Hydr oxymet hy lraethacry 1 at und 0,1 bis 2,5 <£ eines mehrfach ungesättigten Monomeren besteht.4. Katheter nach Anspruch 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die polymere Schicht mit antibiotisch oder germizid wirkenden Substanzen imprägniert ist.5· Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Katheters nach Anspruch 1 bis 4,dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man einen aus Gummi oder anderen Elastomeren bestehenden Katheter mit einem flüssigen Oberzug eines hydrophilen Acrylates bzw. Methacrylates Überzieht und nach Anquellen des Katheters den hydrophilen Acryl at- oder MethacrylatUberzug zn einem festen überzug polymerisiert.O0984S/11256. Verfahren nach Anspruch 5* dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man. auf den ersten Überzug einen weiteren Überzug aus gleichen oder verschiedenen hydrophilen Polymeren aufbringt und dann polymerisiert.7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 5 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man den Acrylat- bzw, Methacrylatüberzug nach Polymerisation mit einer Lösung oder Dispersion einer antibiotlachen oder gerraizlden Substanz imprägniert und anschließend trocknet.8. Abwandlung des Verfahrens nach Anspruch 5 bis 7S dadurch gekennzeichnet» daß man zum Aufbringen von hydrophilen Aoryleiten bzw.
