betreffend Oxydationebeständiftes hydraulisches öl
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf hydraulische Flüssigkeiten
und insbesondere auf hydraulieche öle mit verbesserter
Oxydationsbeständigkeit.
Oxydationaetabilität ist eine der wichtigsten Eigenschaften von hydraulischen ölen. Der Ausdruck "Oxydationestabilität" bedeutet bei seirvur Anwendung auf hydraulische öle,
dass die öle in einem hydraulischen Syetem nach einer vernünftigen Zeitspanne nicht unbrauchbar werden, selbst Wenn"
bestimmte Unterschiede in den öleigenschaften auftreten,
die auf Oxydationsvorgänge zurückzufuhren sind.

Harze und andere Oxydationsprodukte beginnen sich nahezu sofort zu bilden, wenn ein öl seiner Verwendung zugeführt
wurde. Die Geschwindigkeit dieser Bildung kann extrem lang sam oder ziemlich hoch sein, in Abhängigkeit von dem Öl
und den Betriebsbedingungen. Bestimmte Harze, die sich bilden, sind in dem Öl löslich. Diese Bildung verursacht
ein Dunkelwerden der Farbe (nicht notwendigerweise eine unerwünschte Eigenschaft) und eine Erhöhung der Viskosität
des Öls. Wenn die Harze in Berührung mit sehr heissen Oberflächen kommen, besteht für einige Arten dieser Harze
eine Neigung, dass sie in unlösliche Verbindungen überführt werden, die entweder an der heissen Oberfläche anbacken
können oder als Feststoffe, suspendiert in dem öl, zirkulieren. In Form von harten Junklen üborüügen wox'deusolche
Produkte als Lacke bzw. Tränklacke bezeichnet; andere Formen, die sich oft an einer unteren Stelle in
einem hydraulischen System ablagern, werden Schlamme bzw. Trübungen genannt. Diese Schlamme bilden häufig zusammen
mit kleinen Me tallteliehen und anderen Schmutzarten sogar
stärker zu beanstandende Mischungen, die "Superschlamm"
genannt werden können.
Offensichtlich kann eine hohe Geschwindigkeit der Oxydation in einem hydraulischen Syatem nicht geduldet wer-

den, weil die' Oxydationsprodukte kleine Mündungen verstopfen
und zum Verkleben von dicht eingepassten Seilen neigen und das gesamte Gleichgewicht des Systems zerstören.
Dartiberhinaus reagieren die Oxydationsprodukte sauer, sodass sie ebenfalls Metallteile angreifen und Präzisionsoberflächenteile
zerstören.
Das Problem der Oxydationsstabilität von hydraulischen Ölen ist allgemein bekannt. Es gibt zahlreiche Versuche,
um diese Probleme zu überwinden. Da die Oxydationsstabilität von hydraulischen ölen von so grosser Bedeutung
ist, sind mehrere Methoden zu ihrer Prüfung entwickelt worden. Die am weitesten verbreitete und allgemein angewandte
Methode zur Prüfung von Oxydationsbeständigkeit hydraulischer Öle ist die nach ASTM-D-943. Obwohl bis
jetzt keine Prüfverfahren angegeben worden sind, die positiv demonstrieren, ob ein hydraulisches öl der Oxydation
in einem annehmbaren Umfang widerstehen oder nicht widerstehen kann, so ist doch gezeigt worden, dass ein
öl, das nach ASTM-D-943 als schwach befunden wurde unter strengeren Betriebsbedingungen wahrscheinlich noch weniger
gut bestehen wird.

Nach ASTM-D-943 werden 60 ml Wasser zu 300 ml des zu prüfenden Öls gegeben. Die Mischung wird bei etwa 60° C
(205° P) in Gegenwart eines Kupfer-Eisen-Katalysators gehalten, während Sauerstoff durch das Öl-Wasser-Gemisch
mit einer konstanten Geschwindigkeit geblasen wird. Periodisch wird der Umfang der Oxydation durch Prüfen der
Neutralisationszahl bestimmt. Der Test wird als beendigt
angesehen, wenn die Neutralisationszahl des Öls einen Wert von 2,0 erreicht hat. Die Zeit in Stunden, die benötigt
wird, um diesen Wert, jetzt zu erreichen, wird als Mass für die relative Beständigkeit des Öls gegen Oxydation
genommen. Im allgemeinen haben bekannte hydraulische 01-zubereitungen in dem D-943-Test bei 1000 bis 2000 stunden versagte

einen Wert von dem zwei- bis vierfachen der Anzahl der Stunden erreicht, als sie bisher bei hydraulischen
ölen als annehmbar gegolten haben.

Dabei Wird ein"langer Rückstand1* (long residue)
erhalten« das ist eine Fraktion, die unter den angewendeten
Bedingungeil nicht ohne erhebliche Zersetzung destilliert« Der lange Rückstand wird dann einer Dampfdestillation,
gewöhnlich im Vacuum, unterworfen. Unter diesen Bedingungen gehen Gasöl und wachsartige Schmiermittelfraktionen

licherweise als "kurzer Rückstand11 (short residue) oder
"mit Dampf raffinierte Grundmasße" (steam refined stock)
oder auch als "Zylindergrundmasse" (cylinder stock) bezeichnet werden. Das Destillat und die Bodenfraktionen
werden dann einer Lösungsmittelextraktion mit Furfurol bzw. einem im Gegenstrom arbeitenden Propan-Cresyleäure-Systern
unterworfen. Die abgetrennten Raffinate haben

Die in den erfindungsgemässen ölen verwendeten gehinderten
Phenole sind in einer Menge von 0,1 bis 2,0 Gew. #, vorzugsweise
von 0,2 bis 1,0 Gew* # vorhanden. Wie oben angegeben,
besitzen diese Verbindungen die folgende allgemeine formel:
worin R und R1 Alkylreste mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen
sind. Es ist vorzuziehen, dass wenigstens eine der Alkylgruppen
eine verzweigte Konfiguration hat. Beispiele für geeignete substituierte Phenole, die sich für die Zwecke
der Erfindung eignen, sind 2,4,6-Trimethylphenol; 2,6
Di-tert-butyl-4-Methylphenol; 2,6-Dineopentyl-4-Methyl~
phenol; 2 Äthyl-4-Methyl-6-t-Butylphenol; 2-Isopropyl-4-Methyl-6-Neopentylphenol,
und dergleichen, das im Rahmen der Erfindung am meisten bevorzugte Phenol ist 2,6-Di-tbutyl-4-methylphenol.
Die erfindungsgemäes zu verwendenden öllösliohen, alkylier-•
ten Berneteinsäureanhydride sind in einer Menge von 0,001
bis 0,5 Gew. $, vorzugsweise von 0,005 bia 0,5 Gow. % anwesend»
Wie oben erwähnt, besitzen diese Verbindungen die allgemeine Formol

worin R ein Alkylrest mit 8 bis 20 C-Atomen istβ Beispiele
für erfindungsgemäas verwendbare alkylierte Bernsteinsäureanhydride
sind die isomeren Qetyl-bernsteinsäureanhydride,
Nonyl-bernsteinsäureanhydride, Decyl-bernsteinsäureanhydride,
Dodecyl-bernsteinsäureanhydride, Pentadecyl-bernsteinsäureanhydride
und dergleichen. Die erfindungsgemäss am meisten bevorzugtaiAlkyl-bernsteinsäureanhydride sind
diejenigen, bei denen die Alkylgruppe wenigstens 12 C-Atome
enthalte
Bei der restlichen Komponente der erfindungsgemässen Ölzubereitung
handelt es sich um ein aromatisches sekundäres Amin, ein sufuriaiertes Terpen oder/dm ein 1,3,4-ThiaZdiazol-polysulfid.
Diese Komponente ist in einer Menge von 0,001 bis 2,0 Gew. #, vorzugsweise von 0,005 bis
0,2 Gewο $> anwesend.
Die erfindungsgemäes zu verwendenden aromatischen, sekundären
Amine besitzen die allgemeine Formel

worin R und R' ein Wasserstoffatom und/oder eine Alkylgruppe
mit 1 Ms 20 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeuten. Beispiele für erfindungsgemäss geeignete Amine sind Diphenylamin;
Äthylphenylamin; N-Phenyl-; t-butylphenylamin, JMPhenylhexylphenylamin;
Di(hexylphenyl)amin; Hexyl-phenylamin;
N-t-Butylphenyl-äthylphenylamin; Di(octylphenyl)amin?
Dodecyl-phenylamin, N-Octylphenylamin-; und dergleichen.
Die erfindungsgemäss am meisten bevorzugten Amine sind die Isomeren Di-(octylphenyl)-amine.
Sulfurisierte Terpene sind bekannte Diejenigen, welche
für die Zwecke, der Erfindung verwendet werden können, sind öllöslich und lassen sich nach irgendeinem Verfahren zum
Sulfurisieren ungesättigter Kohlenwasserstoffe herstellen. Unter den brauchbaren Sulfurusierungsverfahren kann zweckmassig
dasjenige angewendet werden, bei dem das Terpen mit Schwefel und Schwefelwasserstoff in Gegenwart von Wasser
oder Dampf bei Temperaturen von etwa 120 - 2300C (250 4500F)
und Drücken bis zu etwa 105,5 kg/cm2 (1500 psi) im Verlauf von 1 bis 10 Stunden behandelt wird. Das sulfuri-

sierte Terpen kann auch hergestellt werden durch Behandeln des gewünschten Terpene mit einem Schwefelchlorid wie SoCT«
oder SCI« bei einer Temperatur von etwa 15 bis etwa 120 C
(60 bis 2500P)0 Wenn das Terpen mit einem Schwefelchlorid
sulfurisiert wird, so kann das in dem sulfurisierten Material vorhandene Chlor entfernt werden, indem man das sulfuiisierte
Material in einer Bombe bei etwa 149 bis etwa 204°C (300 bis 4000P) mit Ammoniak oder mit anderen wäßrigen oder alkoholischen
Alkalien, Alkalisulfiden und -polysulfiden, wie einem Hatriumsulfid oder mit anderen Basen behandelt. Die
für die Zwecke der Erfindung am besten geeigneten sulfurisierten Terpene sind diejenigen mit einem Schwefelgehalt von
5 bis etwa 45 #. Unter den Verbindungen, die sich für die
Zv/ecke der Erfindung als besonders geeignet erwiesen haben, befinden sich die öllöslichen, sulfurisierten Derviate von
Terpinolen, alpha-, beta- und gamma-Terpinen, Limonen, Dipeilte^
alpha- und beta-Phellandren, Sylvestren, Carvestren,
Men then, Carvoiaenthen und die Isomere hiervon.
Sie für die Zwecke der Erfindung geeigneten 1,3,4-Thiadiazolpolysulfide
entsprechen der allgemeinen Formel

worin R und R1 gleiche oder verschiedene Kohlenwasserstoffreste, χ und y die Zählen O bis etwa 8 sind, und die Summe
von χ und y wenigstens 1 und vorzugsweise 2 bis etwa 16 ist» Die Gruppen R und R1 können aliphatisch oder aromatisch sein,
wozu Alkyl-, Aralkyl·* Aryl- und Alkarylgruppen gehören. Die
acyclischen Reste können 2 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatome und vorzugsweise etwa 4 bis 16 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten. Beispiele
für geeignete Kohlenwasserstoffreste sind Äthyl, Propyl, Butyl, Hexyl, Octyl, Nonyl, Decyl, Dodecyl, Trideeyl, Hexadecyl, Octadecyi
Cyclohexyl, Phenyl, (DoIyI9 Benzyl, Styryl, lfephthyl und
dergleichen.
Die Polysulfid-Derivate können in geeigneter Weise nach verschiedenen
Methoden erhalten werden. Beispielsweise sind sie zugänglich durch Umsetzen von 2,5--Dimerkapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol
mit einem geeigneten Sulfenylchlorid oder durch Umsetzen des
Dimerkaptans mit Chlor und Umsetzen des entstandenen Disulfenylchlorids,

mit einem primären oder tertiären Merkaptan. Bis-trisulfid-Derivate
werden erhalten durch Umsetzung des Dimerkaptans mit

einem Herkaptaxi und Schwefelohlorid in Holverhältnissen von
1:2:3 bis 1 : 2 s 4 bei einer Temperatur von etwa 50 bis 1000C. Höhere Polysulfide können hergestellt werden
durch Umsetzung der Thiadiazol~di~ oder ~trisulfide mit
Schwefel bei Temperaturen von etwa 93 bis 204-0C (200 bis
4000F). Ein anderer Weg zur HersiäLlung der Polysulfide besteht
darin, daß man 2,5-Dimerkapto-1f3i4"thiadiazol mit einem
Herkaptan und mit Schwefel im Molverhältnis von 1:1:1
bis 1 : 4 : 16 bei Temperaturen von etv/a 75 bis etwa 15O0C
reagieren läßt.
Zur weiteren Erläuterung der vorliegenden Erfindung wurden eine Anzahl von verschiedenen Hassen unter Verwendung der
oben gekennzeichneten Bestandteile hergestellt und nach ASTH D-943 geprüft. In den folgenden iDabiLlen sind alle Teile Gewichtsteile.
Das Ausgangsöl war eine Hischung von zwei Fraktionen
in einem Verhältnis von 45 zu 55. Die Fraktionen hatten die Eigenschaften der Fraktionen 1 und 2 der Tabelle II.

Claims (4)
1. O^ydationsbeständiges hydraulisches öl enthaltend einen
größeren Teil an Mineralöl und- einen kleineren !Feil an Zusätzen gekennzeichnet durch einen Gehalt
von
a) einem gehinderten Phenol der allgemeinen Formel
worin R und E· Alkylresrfce mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen sind,
b) einem öllöslichen alkyl^erten Bernsteinsäureanhydrid
der allgemeinen lOreel i
