Die Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung τοη neuen kolloidalen Mstmlloarbonat-Sispersionen als Zusätse für Soheieröle,
Brennstofföle und Treibetoffe.
Sie erfindungsgeaäss verwendeten Zusätse verleihen den Ib
Verbrennungskraftnasohinen eingesetsten Sonaier- und Brennetoffölen
eohlsaainhibierende und andere Eigensohaften, wirken

der Lackbildung bei hohen Temperaturen entgegen und wirken in
Sohmierölen als Dispergiermittel, wodurch sie die Bildung von Sohlsjm und koksartigen Ablagerungen bei niedrigeren Temperaturen Terhindern. Ferner besitzen diese Zusätze oxydationssohützende
Eigenschaften· Daher sind diese Zusätse äusseret geeignet für Motorensohmieröle und Treibstoffe, inden sie einen
wirtschaftlicheren Betrieb des Motors ermöglichen und den Verschleiße in Verbrennungskraftmasohinen vermindern·
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist die Verwendung von stabilen
kolloidalen Dispersionen von Hetalloarbonaten, die daduroh
hergestellt werden, dass nan saure Eealctionsprodukte von gesättigten
oder ungesättigten Kohlenwasserstoffen Bit Schwefel, Schwefel und Phosphor, Schwefel- oder Schwefel- und Phosphorverbindungen,
wie Schwefeldiohlorid oder Phosphorsulfiden, sowie
eine Phenolverbindung in einem inerten Lösungsmittel auf
Kohlenwasserstoffbasie löst, zu dem Gemisch eine Alkali- oder
Srdalkalibaee in geringerer Menge zusetzt, als sie zur Salzbildung mit der Gesamtmenge an saurer Verbindung und Phenolverbindung
erforderlioh ist, und das Gemisch bei höheren Temperaturen in Gegenwart einer geringen Wassermenge mit Kohlendioxyd
behandelt, als Zusätze zu Schmierölen, BrennstoffÖlen oder
Treibstoffen.
Bei der Herstellung der Zusätze, für die hier Patentsohuts
nicht beansprucht wird, werden vorzugsweise bei der Umwandlung der Alkali«· oder Erdalkalibase in kolloidales Oarbonat weitere
Mengen a& Base zu dem Reaktionsgemische zugesetzt und hierdurch

weitere Mengen aa kolloidalem MetalloArbonat gebildet, eo dass
der Gea anatme talig ehalt dee Endproduktes der Umsetzung grosser
■ist als der Metallgehalt des anfänglichen Reaktionsgemisohes.
Ein besonders einfaches Verfahren, um die8 zu erreichen, besteht
darin, dass man bereite während der Salzbil'dung Kohlendloxyd
duroh das Gemisch linier Zugabe weiterer Mengen an den Metallbaeen durohleitet. Die Reaktion wird fortgesetzt, bis
sioh die erforderliche Menge an kolloidalem Carbonat in dem
Reaktionsgeaieoh gebildet hat.
Die erfindungsgem&BB verwendeten ölzusätze weisen also
•inen sehr hoben Metallgehalt au.f und «inthalten beträchtliche
Mengen an Metalloarbonat in stabiler kolloidaler Fora.
Bs sind bereite ölsusätze bekannt, die hergestellt werden,
indes ein Alkylphenol alt einen Überschuss einer Metallbase
neutralisiert, aus de» Reaktioneprodukt dann das Wasser vollständig
Ausgetrieben und sohlieselich in das Reaktioneprodukt
Kohlendioxyd, jedooh in Abwesenheit der oben genannten sauren
eohwefelholtigen Reaktionsprodukte, eingeleitet wird, .worauf
das Produkt filtriert wird. Bel diesel bekannten Verfahren können sioh keine kolloidalen Metal!.oarboiiatdispersionen bilden,
da die anfängliche neutralisation de» Alkylphenole alt über-■ohttssiger
Metallbase in Abwesenheit von Wasser und in Abwesenheit
einer als Stabilisator wirkenden schwefelhaltigen Kohlenwmseerstoffverbindung

Bei der - hier nioht beanspruchten - Herstellung der
erfindungsgemäss verwendeten ölzueätze werden das saure sohwefelhaltige
Kohienwasserstoffreaktionsprodukt und das Phenol
in einen inerten Lösungsmittel gelöst« .4Is Lösungsmittel komaen
β.B. Kohlenwasserstoffe, insbesondere Paraffinkohlenvasserstoffe,
Bensine, Gasöle oder Schmieröle in Betracht· Hierdurch
bildet sich elλ LösungBoittelgemisch mit der sugesetsten Erdalkalibase·
Das saure» sohwefelhaxOige Kohlenwaseerstoffreaktioneprodukt
wirkt als Stabilisiermittel für das kolloidale Systen.
Venn es nioht anwesend ist, verläuft die Uneetsung regellos,
und das Alkali- oder Erdalkalioarbonat kann in die wässrige
Phase des ReaktionsgsBisohee übergehen und Bit weiteren Kohlendioxyd
ölunlösliches Bioarbonat bilden» Es ist daher wichtig,
dass wehrend und nach der Umsetzung ei» Teil des schwefelhaltigen Kohlenwaesiirstoffreaktioneprodukte? in freier fom vorliegt.
Zu den für die Herstellung der Olsusätse verwendeten
sauren, schwefelhaltigen Kohlenwasserstoffreaktionaprodukten
gehören die üneetBungeprodukte von aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen
alt Sohwefel, Sohwefeldiohlorid oder anderen Sohwefel
•inführenden Verbindungen. Als Kohlenwasserstoffe konaen Paraffine,

wenn die Umsetzung bei Temperaturen durchgeführt wird, die den Siedepunkt des Wassere etwas übersteigen» bleibt gewöhnlioh etwas Wasser in der flüssigen Phase» falls man Wasser als Sreatι
für das verdampfende Wasser sueetzt. Die Reaktion kann jedooh
auoh in zufriedenstellender Weise verlaufen» wenn da« Waaeer
vollständig oder teilweise in Torrn von Dampf anwesend ist. Das Wasser kann dem Reaktionagemisoh z.B. duroh Mitnahme alt dea
eingeleiteten Kohlendioxyd zugesetzt werden· Vorzugsweise soll
die molare Menge des anwesenden Wassers mindestens ebenso gross sein wie diejenige des von der Metallbase aufgenommenen Kohlendioxyde. Das Waeser kann sich teilweise von basischen Hydraten
ableiten» die bei dem Verfahren eingesetzt werden·

Für die in den nachstehenden Beispielen beschriebene Herstellung der ulsusätse wird hier Fatentsohuts nicht beansprucht.
24 Gewiohtsteile phosphorgesohwefeltes Polybuten (Holekulargewioht
900) werden in 45 Gewiohts teilen eines Erdöldestillate
(Viskosität 25 SUS bei 98,9° 0) gelöst, und die Lösung
wird Bit 10,4 Oewiohtstellen eines Gemisches τοη C8- bis C12"
Alkylphenolen Tersetst. Bas Gemisch wird dann auf 127° C erhitst
und alt 3 Seilen Bariuahydroxyd-pentahydrat Tersetst,
worauf Ban Kohlendloxyd hindurchleitet, bis la Verlaufe τοη
2 Stunden 2,6 Seile Kohlendioxyd eingeleitet sind· Während des Binleitens dss Kohlendloxyds werden la Verlaufe der 2 Stunden
langsaB weitere 15 Gewiohteteile Bariuahydroxyd-pentahydrat
sugesetst, wobei eine Hasetsung stattfindet und das Metallsals
In Lösung geht· lach Beendigung der Einleitung des Kohlend!»
oxyds wird das Oeaisoh auf 149° 0 erhitst, das Wasser wird
durch Hindurchleiten τοη Stickstoff ausgetrieben und das Pro- >
dukt filtriert,
Bas Endprodukt enthält 5,5 Gew.-Jt öllöeliohee Barluaoarbonat
(berechnet als CO*). Bas Atoarerhältnls τοη Bsriua
su Phosphor beträgt 2,15 1.

Phosphor τοη 5,65 ι 1 eriielt wird.
Zur Erläuterung der duroh die erfindungageBäss Terwendeten
Zusätse, bei denen daa Verhältnis τοη Metall su Phosphor In des
berorsugten Bereich liegt, erslelten Vorteile werden die folgenden
Versuche durchgeführtt

Ein öemisoh aue 2 VoI,-Ji Wasser und 98 ToI·«£ dee Sohaierölgemlsohes
wird nit 20OQ U/Min, gerührt, bis sloh eine Bauleion
gebildet hat. Sin Elektrolytkupferstreifen (ungefähr
50 mn χ 5 πα) und ein 50 mm grosses Stttok eines Stahlkugellagerringee
von einem Kraftfahreeug-Wälilager werden meaanen
alt dem Schmieröl in solcher Stellung in ein Beoherglae eingebracht,
dass die Metalle eioh nioht berühren. Das Beoherglae
wird eugedeokt und 48 Stunden auf 38° 0 gehalten» worauf die
Metallproben herausgenommen» mit lösungsmittel gewasohen und
untersucht werden. Die Kupferprobe genügt den Anforderungen
dieser Prüfung» wenn sie nioht stark verfärbt 1st und keine Ablagerungen aeigt. Eine geringe Verfärbung 1st geβtattet. Sie
Stahlprobe darf keinen Rost aufweisen.
Eine Sohmierölprobe von 500 com wird bei 172° 0 unter
Hindurohleiten von Luft gerührt. Sann setzt man 23 g Silber su
und hält das Öl 23 Stunden auf 172° C» worauf die Silberprobe herausgenommen und wieder gewogen wird. Die Oewiohtsdlffereni
wird verBelohnet. Ein Gewichtsverlust von weniger als 1,5 mg
gilt als genügend, ein Gewichtsverlust von mehr ale 1,5 ag als ungenügend.
Diese Prüfung wird unter den gleichen Bedingungen wie der Silberkorro8ion8test ausgeführt, jβdooh mit einer Legierungeprobe von 17 g. Ein Verlust von weniger als 40 ag gilt hierbei

als genügend, ein soloher von mehr als 40 ng als ungenügend.
Die Ergebnisse dieser Versuche sind in Tabelle I zusaraengestellt.

Aus den obigen Prüfergebnissen ist au ersehen» dass die
den Zusatz D enthaltende ulprobe, die die bevorzugte Aueführungsform
der Erfindung darstellt, eioh bei allen drei Korrosionsprüfungen
zufriedenstellend verhält, während die anderen öle sioh in mindestens einer Beziehung unbefriedigend zeigen·
Weitere Zusätze werden naoh dem für den Zusatz A beschriebenen Verfahren, jedoch mit den in Tabelle II angegebenen
