"Schmierfett"

Eine Hauptsohwierigkeit beim Ansatz von Sohoierfetten (insbesondere von nicht durch Ton verdickten Schmierfetten) besteht in
der Zusammensetzung von Schmierfetten mit guten Eigenschaften unter extremen Druokbedingungen. Zur Verbesserung der Höohetdruolceigeneohaften sind bereite zahlreiche Materialien verschiedener
Wirksamkeit vorgeschlagen worden. Beispiele soloher Materialien
sind Schwefel-, Selen- und Tellurverbindungen sowie Metallohloride.
Unter den Schwefelverbindungen sind Antimonsulfid, MojLybd&nsulfid
und Zinksulfid erprobt worden. Solche Metallsulfide sind jedoch im allgemeinen ohne Verwendung anderer ZuBätze zur Verringerung
der Abriebwirkung der Sulfide nioht zufriedenstellend; beispiels-

weiss let die Sohle if wirkung von Zinkeulfid durch Bleinaphthenate
vermindert worden· Ferner ist da· Ausaase der Wirksamkeit bei
extremen drucken, da· bisher mit RttoksiQht auf die Kosten der
Metalleulfide erreichbar war, nicht ausreichend, um mu einer weit*
verbreiteten Anwendung der Metallsulfide in Sohnierfetten tu
führen.
Se wurde nun gefunden, dass einen Schmierfett, das ein durch eine
Metallseife verdioktes Schmieröl enthält) mittels eines bestimmten Öllöslichen Sulfonate und eines Metallsulfide alt Höehstdruokeigensohaften gute Eigenschaften bei extremen Drüoken verliehen werden können.
Das erfindungsgemässe Sehmierfett, welches ein Sohaiertil und eine
Metallseife zur Yerdiokung des Schmieröle enthält, ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es ale Zusatsstoffe a) ein Metallsulfld
mit Höohstdruckeigenschaften und b) ein ullBsliches SuIfonat der
allgemeinen Formelχ
enthält, worin A ein Alkali- oder Erdalkalimetall, Ammonium oder
eine Alkylammoniumgruppe mit 2 bis 6 C-Atomen oder eine 2 bis 6
C-Atome enthaltende u> -Aminoalkylammoniumgruppe, η die Wertigkeit
von A, und R eine Alkyl-, Aryl-, Alkaryl- oder Aralkylgruppe mit wenigstens 6 C-Atomen bedeuten, wobei dae Schmierfett naphthenatfrei ist.
Unter "naphthenatfrei1* ist su verstehen, dass das Schmierfett
nicht Naphthensäuren oder Metallnaphthenate enthält.

Das Schmieröl kann ein natürliches oder synthetisches Schmieröl
sein* Aue praktischen Gründen wird jedoch üblicherweise ein natürliches Schmieröl, vorzugsweise ein Mineralschmieröl, beispielsweise ein von Erdöl abgeleitetes Mineralschmieröle verwendet«
Zahlreiche synthetische Schmieröle (beispielsweise Silicon- oder
Esterschmieröle) können mittels Seifen unter Bildung üblicher Seifenschmierfette verdickt werden. Die thermische Stabilität
der Seifen ist jedoch im allgemeinen beträchtlich niedriger als jene der öle. Synthetische Schmieröle werden daher normalerweise bei der Herstellung von Seifenschmierfetten nicht verwendet; es bestehen jedoch gewisse Ausnahmen bei einigen komplexen
Schmierfetten, die eine beträchtlich höhere Wärmestabilität als
übliche Seifenschmierfette haben·
Die Metallseife zur Verdickung des Schmieröle iat eine Metallseife einer Fettsäure, die fähig iet, dem Ol eine etabile QeI-struktur zu verleihen. Beispiele für Metallseifen sind eine
übliche Metallseife, eine komplexe Seife und ein gemischte» Seifenschmierfett. Nachfolgend sind spezielle Typen Ton Metalleeifenverdickungsmltteln angegeben:

Es können 0,05 bis 10 (zweckmässigerweise 1 bis 5) Gev.«-£ des
Metallsulfids, bezogen auf das Gewioht des Schmierfette», vorliegen. Das Gewichtsverhältnis τοη Metallsulfid bu SuIfonat
scheint nicht kritisch zu sein. Das Metalleulfid kann Molybdändi8ulfid, ein amorphes Antimonsulfid oder eine Hisohung derselben sein. Bin amorphes Antimonsulfid wird an Stelle eines
kristallinen Antimonsulfids bevorzugt, da das letztere unerwünschten Abrieb bei Metallteilen hervorrufen kann, möglicherweise auf <*rund der Härte der Kristalle oder von Verunreinigungen im Sulfid, Das amorphe Antimonsulfid kann in for» τοη

wenigstens einem solchen Sulfid vorliegen. Beispiele für dieses*
Sulfid sind Antimontrieulfid (SbgS*), Antimontetraeulfid oder
Antiißonpentasulfid. Diese Sulfide können in ihrer Farbe von grau
bis gelb variieren, jedoch haben ßie üblicherweise in Abhängigkeit von ihrer Herstellungaweise und ihrer Teilchengröse· eine
etwas rötliche Farbe. Sin amorphes Antimoneulfid kann durch
Fällung auβ einer wässerigen Lösung eines AntlnonsalEes durch
ein Sulfid, beispielsweise Natriumsulfid oder Sohwefelwaeseretoff,
erhalten werden.
Es können 0,5 bis 10 (üblicherweise 1 biß 5) Ctev.-£ des Öle
ale löellohee SuIfonat, bezogen auf .das Gewicht dee Schmierfettee,
vorliegen. Beispiele von Sulfonaten sind in der nachstehenden Tabelle 1 angegeben.

Seispiele von Aryl- oder Aralkyisulfonaten sind NatriumanthracenBulionat
imd Kalziumphenyldecansulfonat.
Das SuIfonat kann, wie in der USA'Patentschrift Hr. 2 764
beschrieben, hergestellt werden. In dieser Patentschrift iet Herstellung gewisser Metallsalze und der Ammonium- und Amines von Dinonylnaphthalinsulfonsäure "beschrieben. An Stelle der Aminsalze können wässerige Lösungen der Amine (beispielsweise von Dimethylamin, Äthylendiamin, Mono-, Di- oder Triäthylamir zu Dinonylnaphthalinsulfonsäure augesetat werden·
beschrieben, hergestellt werden. In dieser Patentschrift iet Herstellung gewisser Metallsalze und der Ammonium- und Amines von Dinonylnaphthalinsulfonsäure "beschrieben. An Stelle der Aminsalze können wässerige Lösungen der Amine (beispielsweise von Dimethylamin, Äthylendiamin, Mono-, Di- oder Triäthylamir zu Dinonylnaphthalinsulfonsäure augesetat werden·

Pur die Proben iä, I, J und L waren die Seifen aus hydrierten
Rizinusölsäuren abgeleitet, die 92 dew.-S* hydrierte RUinolsäure
enthielten. Die Seifen für die Proben Ϊ, G, H und K.
waren von einem tiemisoh aus hydrierter Rieinusölsäure, wie
sie oben erwähnt ist, und hydrierten Pisohölsäuren abgeleitet,
wobei letztere O, -^«-Fettsäuren mit überwiegend C1x-
und C-i £— i'ettsäuren enxRlelten.

Wie sick aus Tabelle 3 er,gibt, wird durch die Metalleulfide
eine Verbesserung der Brook üufnahmefähiglceit der Seifenbasis·
schmierfette erreicht, jedoch nur ,in Gegenwart der Metelleulfonafcfc
und nur so lange, wie das Schmierfett frei von irgendwel
chen ftaphthensäuren oder Naphthenaten ist.
Interesßanterweise iet 'Tabelle 3 aueh zu entnehmen (Probe
dase selbct durch eine 3riiöhung der Menge von Metallsulfid die
nachteilige Wirkung der Anwesenheit selbst kleiner Mengen Kaphtheriet nicht vermieden verden kann·
Die Ergebnisse für die Proben £ und L zeigen auoh, dass der
Vorteil der Verwendung amorpher Metallsulfide mit Sulfonaten nicht auf lie tall sulfonate beschränkt ist, sondern auch bei Aminsalzen
von Sulfonsäuren vorliegt. Dies wird durch Beispiel 2
veranschaulicht.
Vergleich:
Zu Proben verschiedener Lithiumeeifenfette A bis D wurden kleine Mengen amorphes Antimontrisulfid hinzugegeben* Dae TrI-sulfid wurde in den Proben innig dispergiert.
Jede der Proben wurde im Simken-Höchstdruoktest geprüft.
Tabelle 4 zeigt die Ergebnisse des Versuches.

Wie aue Tabelle IV hervorgeht, zeigt· keines der Selfenschmierfette,
die amorphes Antimonsulfid enthielten, irgendeine wesent liche Verbesserung hinsichtlich der Druclcauftaahnefähigkeit
auch nicht bei extrem hohen MetallsulfidkonBentrationen.
Gemäse diesem Beispiel wird Äthylendiamindinonylnaphthalinaulfonat
au einem mit Lithiumhydroxydmonohydrat und hydrierten Petteäureseifen
verdickten Fett augesetzt. Das Schmierfett M enthielt
kein Erdalkalimetalleulfouat, sondern es enthielt amorphee
Antimontri sulfid.

Die überraschende Wirkung der Kombination der Sulfonate und der
amorphen Metallsulfide wird vielleicht noch deutlicher dadurch veranschaulicht, dass (1) die Metalisulfide praktieoh keine
Höchötdruokaktivität in Seifenschmierfetten ohne die Sulfonate

zeigen (siehe Tabelle 4) und dass (2) in tonverdickten Schmierfetten, in vrelohen die Metallsulfide wenigstens eine gewisse
HUohstdruckwirksamkeit aufweisen, die Druckaufnahmefähigjceit
durch die Sulfonate nicht wirksam erhöht wird.
Die bezüglich tonverdiokter fette vorliegende Situation wird
durch den folgenden Vergleich veranschaulicht, in welchem der Timksn-Höchstdrucktöst verwendet wurde, um die Druokaufnahjaefähigkelt von zwei identischen naphthenatfreien tonverdickten
Schmierfetten N und O zu prüfen, die gleiche Mengen von SbgS-
und gegebenenfalls 3,0 Gew.-^ Kalziuraerdölsulfonate, bezogen auf
das Gewicht der Schmierfette, enthielten. Dl· Ergebnisse dieser
Versuche sind in tabelle VI angegeben.

Claims (22)
1. Naphtheziatfreiee Schmierfett, welches ein äohttierbl und
eine Ketallseife zur Verdickung des Schmieröle enthält,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ββ als Zusatzstoff e a) ein Metallsulfid mit Höchetdruekeigensohafttn- tand
b) ein ttllösliohes SuIfonat der allgemeinen Formel
(RSO5)" (Ä)+n enthält, worin A ein Alkalimetall, ein Erdalkallmetall, Ammonium oder eine 2 bis 6 C-Atome enthaltende Alkylammoniumgruppe oder eine co -Aminoalkylammoniumgruppe mit 2 bis
6 C-Atomen, η die Wertigkeit von A, und R eine Alkyl-, Aryl-,
Alkaryl- oder Aralkylgruppe mit wenigstens 6 C-Atomen bedeuten.
2. Schmierfett naoh Anspruch 1, daduroh gekennzeichnet, dass das Sohmieröl ein Mineralaohmieröl ist.
3· Sohmierfett naoh Anspruoh 1 oder 2, daduroh gekennzeichnet, dass die Metallseife von einer Bydroxyfettsäure abgeleitet ist.
4· Schmierfett naoh Anspruoh 3» daduroh gekennzeichnet, dass die Metallseife von 12-Bydroxystearinaäure abgeleitet ist·
5. Sohmierfett naoh Anepruoh 3 oder 4, daduroh g e -kennzeichnet, dass die lietallseife vox» eine» Alkalimetal I abgeleitet 1st.

gekennzeichnet, dass dae Metallaulfid ein
amorphee Antimoneulfid ist.
10. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 9, daduroh gekennzeichnet,
dass das Metallsulfid amorphes Antimontrisulfid
ist.
11. Schmierfett nacn einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10, dadurch
ge U einzeichne t, dass θβ 0,5 bis 10 Gew.-^ des öllöBliohen
Sulfonate, bezogen auf dae Gewicht des Schmierfette«, enthält.
12. Schinierfett nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 11, daduroh
gekennzeichnet,, dass der Rest R des öllö ellchen
Sulfonate eine Alkylgruppe ist. , -—,.«

13. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass das öllöaliche SuIfonat von einer Erdöl-
sulfonsäure abgeleitet ist.
14. Schmierfett nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 11, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass der Beet H im öllöalichen
SuIfonat eine Aikarylgruppe ist·
15. Sohmi erfett nach Anspruch 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass das öllösliche SuIfonat von einer Dialkylarylsulfonsäure
abgeleitet ist»
16. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 15, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das öllösliche SuIfonat von Dinonylnaphthalinsulfonsäure
abgeleitet ist.
17. Schmierfett nach einem der Ansprüohe 1 bis 16, daduroh
gekennzeichnet, dass das öllöaliche SuIf onat von einem Alkalimetall abgeleitet ist.
18. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 17» daduroh gekennzeichnet,
daes das öllöeliche SuIfonat von Hatrium
abgeleitet ist.

19. Schmierfett nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 16, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass das öllösliche SuIfonat von
einem Erdalkalimetall abgeleitet ist.
20. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 19, daduroh gekennzeichnet, dass das öllößliche SuIfonat von Kalzium' abgeleitet
ist.
21. Schmierfett nach einen der Ansprüche 1 bis 16, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass das öllösliche SuIfonat von
einer Anuaoniumgruppe abgeleitet ist«
22. Schmierfett nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 16, daduroh
gekennze lehnet, dass das öllösliche SuIfonat von
einer to -Amino-Cg^g-alkylamingruppe abgeleitet ist.
23· Sojunierfett nach Anspruch 22, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass das öllösliche SuIfonat von Äthyleiidiamin abgeleitet ist.
