Description

2. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß es 0,5 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent Metallsulfid enthält.
3. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als Metallsulfid
Molybdänsulfid enthält.
4. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als Metallsulfid
" ein amorphes Antimonsulfid enthält.
5. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß es als Metallsulfid amorphes Antimontrisulfid enthält.
6. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es 0,5 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent
öllösliches Sulfonat, bezogen auf das Gewicht des Schmierfettes, enthält.
7. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches'
Sulfonat der obengenannten allgemeinen Formel enthält, worin der Rest R des öllöslichen Sulfonats
eine Alkylgruppe ist. ·
8. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß es ein öllösliches Sulfonat enthält, welches sich von einer Erdölsulfonsäure
ableitet.
9. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches
Sulfonat der obengenannten allgemeinen Formel enthält, in der der Rest R eine Alkarylgruppe ist.
10. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches Sulfonat enthält,
welches sich von einer Dialkylarylsulfonsäure ableitet.
11. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches Sulfonat
enthält, welches sich von Dinonylnaphthalinsulfonsäure ableitet.
12. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 11,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches Alkalimetallsulfonat enthält.
13. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches Natriumsulfonat
enthält.
14. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 11,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches Erdalkalisulfonat enthält.
15. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 14, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches Sulfonat des
Kalziums enthält.
16. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches
Ammoniumsulfonat enthält.
17. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 11. dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches
Sulfonat eines cu-Amino-C2_6-alkylamins enthält.
18. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 17, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein öllösliches Sulfonat des
Äthylendiamins enthält.
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Schmierfett.
Die Herstellung bzw. das Auffinden von Schmierfetten (insbesondere von nicht durch Ton verdickten
Schmierfetten), die gute Eigenschaften unter extremen Druckbedingungen aufweisen, ist schwierig. Zur Verbesserung
der Höchstdruckeigenschaften sind bereits zahlreiche Materialien verschiedener Wirksamkeit
vorgeschlagen worden. Beispiele solcher Materialien sind Schwefel-, Selen- und Tellurverbindungen sowie
Metallchloride. Unter den Schwefelverbindungen sind Antimonsulfid, Molybdänsulfid und Zinksulfid erprobt
worden. Solche Metallsulfide sind jedoch im allgemeinen ohne Verwendung anderer Zusätze zur
Verringerung der Abriebwirkung der Sulfide nicht zufriedenstellend; beispielsweise ist die Schleifwirkung
von Zinksulfid durch Bleinaphthenate vermindert worden. Ferner reicht der Grad der Wirksamkeit bei
extremen Drücken, der bisher mit Rücksicht auf die Kosten der Metallsulfide erreichbar war, nicht aus,
um zu einer weitverbreiteten Verwendung von Metallsulfiden in Schmierfetten führen zu können.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß einem Schmierfett, das ein durch eine Metallseife verdicktes Schmieröl
enthält, mittels eines bestimmten öllöslichen Sulfonats und eines Metallsulfids mit Höchstdruckeigenschaften
gute Eigenschaften bei extremen Drücken verliehen werden können.
Das erfindungsgemäße Schmierfett besteht aus einem Schmieröl, einer Metallseife zur Verdickung des
Schmieröls und Zusatzstoffen. Es ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als Zusatzstoffe a) ein Metallsulfid
mit Höchstdruckeigenschaften und b) ein öllösliches Sulfonat der allgemeinen Formel
(RSO3);
5° enthält, worin A ein Alkali- oder Erdalkalimetall, Ammonium oder eine Alkylammoniumgruppe mit
.2 bis 6 C-Atomen oder eine 2 bis 6 C-Atome enthaltende ω-Aminoalkylammoniumgruppe, η die Wertigkeit von
A und R eine Alkyl-, Aryl-, Alkaryl- oder Aralkylgruppe mit wenigstens 6 C-Atomen bedeutet, wobei
das Schmierfett naphthenatfrei ist.
Unter »naphthenatfrei« ist zu verstehen, daß das Schmierfett keine Naphthensäuren oder Metallnaphthenate
enthält.
Das Schmieröl kann ein natürliches oder synthetisches Schmieröl sein. Aus praktischen Gründen wird
jedoch üblicherweise ein natürliches Schmieröl, vorzugsweise ein Mineralschmieröl (beispielsweise ein
von Erdöl abgeleitetes Mineralschmieröl), verwendet. Zahlreiche synthetische Schmieröle (beispielsweise
Silicon- oder Esterschmieröle) können mittels Seifen unter Bildung üblicher Seifenschmierfette verdickt
werden. Die thermische Stabilität der Seifen ist jedoch im allgemeinen beträchtlich niedriger als jene der öle.
Synthetische Schmieröle werden daher normalerweise bei der Herstellung von Seifenschmierfetten nicht verwendet;
es bestehen jedoch gewisse Ausnahmen bei einigen komplexen Schmierfetten, die eine beträchtlich
höhere Wärmestabilität als übliche Seifenschmierfette haben.
Als Metallseife zur Verdickung des Schmieröls wird die Metallseife einer Fettsäure verwendet, die
fähig ist, dem öl eine stabile Gelstruktur zu verleihen. Beispiele für Metallseifen sind übliche Metallseifen,
komplexe Seifen und gemischte Seifen. Nachfolgend sind spezielle Typen von Metallseifenverdickungsmitteln
angegeben:

Es können 0,05 bis 10 (zweckmäßigerweise 1 bis 5) Gewichtsprozent des Metallsulfids, bezogen
auf das Gewicht des Schmierfettes, vorliegen. Das Gewichtsverhältnis von Metallsulfid zu Sulfonat
scheint nicht kritisch zu sein. Das Metallsulfid kann Molybdändisulfid, ein amorphes Antimonsulfid oder
eine Mischung derselben sein. Ein amorphes Antimonsulfid wird an Stelle eines kristallinen Antimonsulfids
; bevorzugt, da das letztere unerwünschten Abrieb bei
Metallteilen hervorrufen kann, möglicherweise auf j Grund der Härte der Kristalle oder von Verunreinigungen
im Sulfid. Das amorphe Antimonsulfid kann ; in Form von wenigstens einem solchen Sulfid vorliegen.
Beispiele für dieses Sulfid sind Antimontrisulfid (Sb2S3), Antimontetrasulfid oder Antimonpentasulfid.
Diese Sulfide können in ihrer Farbe von grau bis gelb variieren, jedoch haben sie üblicherweise in Abhängigkeit
von ihrer Herstellungsweise und ihrer Teilchengröße eine etwas rötliche Farbe. Ein amorphes Antimonsulfid
kann durch Fällung aus einer wäßrigen : Lösung eines Antimonsalzes durch ein Sulfid, beispielsweise
Natriumsulfid oder Schwefelwasserstoff, erhalten werden. .
Es können 0,5 bis 10 (üblicherweise 1 bis 5) Gewichtsprozent
des Öls als lösliches Sulfonat, bezogen auf das Gewicht des Schmierfettes, vorliegen. Beispiele von
Sulfonaten sind in der nachstehenden Tabelle I angegeben. ,

Beispiele von Aryl- oder Aralkylsulfonaten sind Natriumanthracensulfonat und Kalziumphenyldecansulfonat.
Das Sulfonat kann, wie in der USA.-Patentschrift 2 764 548 beschrieben, hergestellt werden. In dieser Patentschrift
ist die Herstellung gewisser Metallsalze und der Ammonium- und Aminsalze von Dinonylnaphthalinsulfonsäure
beschrieben. An Stelle der Aminsalze können wäßrige Lösungen der Amine (beispielsweise von
Dimethylamin, Äthylendiamin, Mono-, Di- oder Triethylamin) der Dinonylnaphthalinsulfonsäure zugesetzt
werden.

Die Erfindung wird durch die folgenden Beispiele näher erläutert.
Zu Proben verschiedener Lithiumseifenschmierfette E bis L wurden kleine Mengen amorphes Antimontrisulfid
zugesetzt. Die Proben enthielten kleine Mengen Kalziumerdölsulfonat. Die Proben F, G, H und K
enthielten kleine Mengen Naphthensäuren, und die Probe J enthielt eine kleine Menge eines Lithiumnaphthenats.
Die Druckaufnahmefähigkeit der Schmierfette
65 wurde nach dem Timken-Höchstdrucktest (ASTM Bulletin 228, Februrar 1958, S. 28 bis 31) geprüft. In
der folgenden Tabelle III sind die Ergebnisse dieser Prüfungen angegeben.

Für die Proben E, I, J «rod L waren die Seifen aus hydrierten Rizinusölsäuren abgeleitet, die 92 Gewichtsprozent hydrierte Rizinolsäure
enthielten. Die Seifen for die Proben F, G, H und K waren von einem Gemisch aus hydrierter Rizinusölsäure, wie sie oben erwähnt ist,
und hydrierten Fischölsäwren abgeleitet, wobei letztere C8 _22-Fettsäuren mit überwiegend C14- und C16-Fettsäuren enthielten.

Wie sich aus Tabelle III ergibt, wird durch die Metallsulfide eine Verbesserung der Druckaufnahmefähigkeit
der Seifenbasisschmierfette erreicht, jedoch nur in Gegenwart der Metallsulfonate und nur so
lange, wie das Schmierfett frei von irgendwelchen Naphthensäuren oder Naphthenaten ist
Interessanterweise ist Tabelle III auch zu entnehmen (Probe H), daß selbst durch eine Erhöhung der
Menge von Metallsulfid die nachteilige Wirkung der
Anwesenheit selbst kleiner Mengen Naphthenat nicht vermieden werden kann.
Die Ergebnisse für die Proben K und L zeigen auch, daß der Vorteil der Verwendung amorpher Metallsulfide
mit Sulfonaten nicht auf Metollsulfonate beschränkt ist, sondern auch bei Amiiasalzen von
Sulfonsäuren vorliegt. Dies wird durch Beispiel 2 veranschaulicht
Vergleich
Zu Proben verschiedener Lithiumseifenfette A bis D wurden kleine Mengen amorphes Antimontrisulnd
hinzugegeben. Das Trisulfid würde in den Proben innig dispergiert.
Jede der Proben wurde im Timken-Höchstdruck-
test geprüft.

Wie aus Tabelle IV hervorgeht, zeigte keines der Seifenschmierfette, die amorphes Antimonsulfid ententhielten,
irgendeine wesentliche Verbesserung hinsichtlich der Druckaufnahmefähigkeit, auch nicht bei
extrem hohen Metallsulfidkonzentrationen.

Gemäß diesem Beispie! wirdÄthylendiamindirionylnaphthalinsulfonat
zu einem mit Lithiumhydroxydmonohydrat und hydrierten Fettsäureseifen· verdickten
Fett zugesetzt. Das Schmierfett M enthielt kein Erdalkalimetallsuifonat,
sondern es enthielt amorphes AntimontrisuificL
Die Ergebnisse des Timken-Höchstdrucktests sind in Tabelle V angegeben. Sie zeigen deutlich den durch
Zusatz von sowohl Sulfonat als auch amorphem Metallsulfid im Schmierfett M erzielten Vorteil.

Schmierfetten N und O zu prüfen, die gleiche Mengen von Sb2S3 und gegebenenfalls 3,0 Gewichtsprozent
Kalziumerdölsulfonate, bezogen auf das Gewicht der Schmierfette, enthielten. Die Ergebnisse dieser Versuche
sind in Tabelle VI angegeben.

Die überraschende Wirkung der Kombination der Sulfonate und der amorphen Metallsulfide wird
vielleicht noch deutlicher dadurch veranschaulicht, daß 1) die Metallsulfide praktisch keine Höchstdruckaktivität
in Seifenschmierfetten ohne die Sulfonate zeigen (s. Tabelle IV) und daß 2) in tonverdickten
Schmierfetten, in welchen die Metallsulfide wenigstens eine gewisse Höchstdruckwirksamkeit aufweisen, die
Druckaufhahmefähigkeit durch die Sulfonate nicht wirksam erhöht wird.
Die bezüglich tonverdickter Fette vorliegende Situation
wird durch den folgenden Vergleich veranschaulicht, in welchem der Timken-Höchstdrucktest
verwendet wurde, um die Druckaufnahmefähigkeit von zwei identischen naphthenatfreien tonverdickten

Claims (1)
1. Naphthenatfreies Schmierfett, bestehend aus einem Schmieröl, einer Metallseife zur Verdickung
des Schmieröls und Zusatzstoffen, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß es als Zusatzstoffe a) ein Metallsulfid mit Höchstdruckeigenschaften
und b) ein öllösliches Sulfonat der allgemeinen Formel
(RSO3); (A)+"
