Description
- Verfahren zur heratellung von Polyeserharzen (Zusatz zu Patent ......... (Anmeldung C 25 265 IVd/390) Bei der Verarbeitung von achwerlöalichen, hochmolekularen Estern aus Iso- und Terephthalsäure und zweiwertigen Alkoholen, wie vor alle.
- Aethylenglykol, evtl. aber auch Propylen- oder Butylenglykol au Folien, Faserm oder Kunststoffen ergeben sich oftmals grö#ere Mengen an Abfällen, für die bisher keine Möglichkeit einer wirtschaftlichen Verwertung bestand.
- Gegenstand des hanptpatentes ist ein Verfahren zur herstellung von Polyesterharsen, das dadurch gekennseichnet ist, daß mohwerlösliche, hochmolekulare Terephthalsäurediolester, gegebenenfalls unter Druck, entweder a) is gesättigten oder ungesättigten, vorsugsweise olefinisch ungesättigten dicarbonsäuren oder deren Anhydriden oder deren oligomerem oder deren Mono- oder Diestern gelöst und dann itt mekrwertigen, insbesondere zweiwertigen Alkoholen, vorsugsweise solehen mit siedeyuakten von sohr als 200°C verestert oder b) itt den unter a) definierten Alkoholen ungeestert und dann itt den gleishfalls untes a) definierten Diearbonsäuren oder deren Derivaten weiter verestert werden.

- @n wurde nun gefunden, daß stich solche sohwerlöslihen hochmolekularen Ester von zweiwertigen Alkoholen, deren Säurekomponente neben oder anstelle ton Terephthalsäure Isophthalsäure ist, also sowohl Isophthalsäurepolyester als auch Mischester oder Estergemische auf Basis von isophthalsäure und Terephthalsäure vorteilhaft zur herstellung leichter löslicher, und niedriger molekularer gesättigter und ungesättigter Polyesterharze verwenden lassen. Erfindungsgemä# werden sie in A) gesättigton oder ungesättigten, vorzugsweise α,ß-olefinisch ungesättigten, Dioarbonsäuren oder deren Anhydriden oder deren oligomeren oder deren Mono- oder diestern (au#er Iso- und Terephthalsäure) oder in B) mehrwertigen, insbesondere sweiwertigen alkoholen, vorsugaweise solchen mit siedepunkten von mohr als 20000, oder in C) einem Gemisch der Komponenten A und B in der Hitze gelöst. Falls nicht von vornherein annäherad äquivalente Mengen der Säuren (A), ihrer Anhydride oder der Ester einwertiger Alkohole und der Alkohole (B) oder Ester mehrwertiger Alkohole verwendet werden, wird anschlie#end in einer sweiten Stufe mit der jeweils anderen, sur Esterbildung notwendigen Komponente A oder b verestert.
- Die hoohmolekularen dilester der Isc- und gegebanenfalls der Terephthalsäure lösen sich in den Dicarbonsäuren oder deren Anhydriden bei Temperaturen oberhalb 180°C und unterhalb des Zersetzungspunktes, eines der Reaktionsteilnehuer vorzugsweise zwischen 200°C und 270°C s@hr rasch auf, langsaner in den Estern der Dioarbonsäuren oder in den mehrwertigen Alkeholen. Die Eigenschaften der erhaltenen Polyesterharse häagen wo Verhältmis von Diolester der Isc- bzw. Terephthalsäure zu den anderen Reaktionskompoas@ten, wie der difuaktiomellen Carboasäure, den mohrwertigen Alkohol oder des Ester aus mohrwertigem Alkohol und der Dicarbansäure, sowie von der verwendeten Dicarbonsäure bzw. dem mehrwertigen Alkebel und dem Umsetzumgegrad weitgehend ab. Im allgemeinem kondezeiert man, bis eine Säure-@ahl von 70 unterschritten ist, verzugsweise hat das Predukt eine Säuresahl zwisehen 20 und 60. Es kann aber ausk sehr aiedrige Säuresahlon, z.B. von 5, kaben. Die Disarbonsäure (au#er der Iss- bsw, Terephthalsäure) wird im allgem2inem im einer M@nge von mindestens 2, versugaweise awisshen 3 und 10 Mol auf je 3 molekulare Einheiten torophthalsäure, die in dem Ester enthaltion ist, angewendet.
- Die Umsetsung kann aush in Auteklaven oder ähalichen geeignetem Apparatem unter Drusk ausgeführt werden. Wenn man die Endpredukte in Form löaungemittelhaltiger Marze weiterverwendin will, kann man die Reaktion selbet auch schon in Gegenwart von Lösungsmitteln oder Verdünnungsmitteln durohführen. Als sclche seien z.B. hochsiedende, aliphatische, aromatische oder Terpenkohlenwasserstoffe genannt. Im Falle der Verwendung von Terpenkohlenwasserstoffen kann auch eine Reaktion eintreten, wenn ungesättigte Dicarbonsäuren oder funktionelle Derivate davon verwendet worden. Lösungsmittel oder Verdünnungsmittel künnen Jedoch auoh dann verwendet werden, wenn die fertigen Harze nicht in Gemisch mit Lösungamitteln angewendet werden sollen. Di. Harz. können auah durch eine geringere Menge von Harzaäuren oder langkettigen Fettsäuren Mit z.B. 12 bis 22 C-Atomen modifiziert werden.
- Diese Säuren können in einer Menge bis zu 50 Aequivalent %, bezogen auf die zusätzlich zur Terephthalsäure vorhandene Dicarbonsäure oder ihre funktionellen Derivate, und im allgemeinen in einer Menge von 1 bis 20 Aequivalent % verwendet werden. Obgleich diese Säuren auoh schon in der ersten Reaktionsstufe zugegen sein können, z.B. zusammen Mit den dicarbonsäuren oder deren Derivaten, werden sie vorteilhaft gegen Ende der Reaktion zugesetzt.
- Als Dicarbonsäuren eignen sich besonders a,ß-olofinisch ungesättigte Dicarbonsäuren wie Maleinsäure, Fumarsäure, Itaconsäure, Citraconsäure, Mesaconaäure, 3,4,5,6-Tetrahydrophthalsäure oder Endomethylentetrahydrophthalsäure, ferner solche Dicarbonsäuren, die keine polymerisierbare aliphatische Doppel- oder Dreifachbindung enthalten wie Bernstein-, Glutar-, Adipin-, Pimelin-, Kork-, Azelain-, Sebacinsäure oder Ortho-phthalsäure, oder die Hexahydrierungsprodukte der verschiedenen Phthalsäuren, Sndomethylemhexahydrophthalsäure, die verschiedenen Tri- oder Tetrachlorphthalsäuren, Tetrachlorbernsteinsäure oder Hexachlorendomethylentetrahydrophthalsäure. Wenn halogenhaltige Säuren verwendet werden, können sie in einer solchen Menge angewendet werden, daß das Mars nicht brennbar ist. Auch die Anhydride, ao weit sie existieren, und die oligomeren oder Momo- oder Diester dieser Dicarbonsäuren sind brauchbar, wobei die Ester die Formeln R'OOC-R-CORR', R'OOC-R-COOH od. HOOC-R-COO-R'-OOC-R-COOH oder HOOC - R - COO- R' - OOC- - R - COOR' oder eine homologe Struktur haben können. In diesen Formelh bed@utet R den Rest, der die beiden Carbonsäuregruppen verbindet, R' den Rest eines mehrwertigen alkohols oder eines einwertigen Alkohols, wobei R' vorzugzweise mionk @ehr als 7 C-Atemen hat. R' kann z.B. der Methyl-, Aethyl-, Propyl-, Lsopropyl-, Allyl-, (primär-, sekundär-, tertiär- oder iso-) Butyl-, Amyl-, Hexyl-, Octyl- oder Benzylrest oder der ein- oder mehrfach veresterte Rest der folgenden mehrwertigen, insbesondere zweiwertigen Alkohole eosin, die auok als solche als Reaktionskomponente B gebraucht werden können.
- Aethylenglykol, Diäthylenglykol, Triäthylenglykol, 1,2-Propylenglykol, 1,3-Propandiol, die verschiedenen Butan-, Pentan oder hexandiole wie Butandiol-1,3 oder -1,4 oder 2,2-Dimethylpropandiol-1,3; 2-Aethyl-2-butyl-propandiol-l, 3 1,4-Dimethylolcyclohexan, Butendiol-1,4, hydrierte Biaphenole (d.i. hydriertes p,p'-Dihydroxydiphenylpropan oder dessen Homologe); partiell verätherte oder acetalisierte, Mindestens dreiwartige Alkohole die vorzugsweise so weit veräthert oder acetalisiert sind, daß sie noch zwei freie Hydroxylgruppen enthalten, z.B. partiell verätherten oder acetalisiertes Glycerin, Trimethyloläthan, Trimethylolpropan, Hexantriol oder Pentaerythrit. Die acetal- oder ätherartig gebundenen Reste können z.B. gesättigte oder olefinisch ungesättigte Reste sein, in denen der Aether- oder Acetalsauerstoff an ein aliphatisches C-Atoa gebunden ist, und die bis zu 10, vorzugsweise 3 bis 7 C-Atone enthalten. Geeignete Reste sind z.B. die oben für R' genannten einwertigen Reste oder die entsprechenden Acetalgruppen; Andere geeignete mehrwertige Alkohole sind Dimethylolbenzol, -toluol, -xylol; Anlagerungsprodukte Ton Alkylemoxyden wie Aethylen-, Propylen- oder Butylenoxyden an zweiwertige Alkohol, z.B. die vorgenannten, oder an zweiwertige Phenol wie Resorcin, Hydrochinon, 4,4'-Dihydroxydiphenymethan, -äthan, -propan oder Homologe.
- Gegebenenfalls können zusammen mit den zweiwertigen Alkoholen höherwertige Alkohole verwendet werden, z0B. Glcerin, Trimethyloläthan, Trimethylolpropan, Hexantriol. Durch solche höherwertigen Alkohole kennen die Eigenachaften der Reaktionsprodukte nech weitgehend modifisiert werden. Zweckmäßig setzt san diese höherwertigen Alkohole allerdings nur in solchen Mengen ein, daß der Anteil der "überschüssigen" Hydroxylgruppen (das ist die Zahl der um zwei verminderten freien Hydroxylgrmppen des mindestens dreiwertigen Alkoholes) nicht höher ist als 10 Aequivalent %, vorzugsweise nicht höher als 7 Aequivalent %, Solche Mindestens dreiwertigen Alkohole können, was bevorzugt ist, auch zusammen itt aolchen Mezgen einwertiger Alkohole oder Monocarbonsäuren verwendet werden, die den "überschüssigen" Hydroxylgruppen (im Sinne der vorherigen Defimition) etwa äquivalent sind.
- Meben den cbengenannten Dicarbonsäuren können auch andere difunktionelle Säuren verwendet werden, wie Monchydroxy-monooarbonsäuren, in denen die Hydroxylgruppen bei den angewandten Temperaturen mitverestert werden, z.B. in Molerhältnis 5 : 1 bis 1 : 2. Geeignete Säuren sind z.B. Rizinolsäure oder Hydroxystearinsäure. Die Säuren können auch zusammen Mit häherbasischen Carbonsäuren wie Pyromellitsäure verwendet werden. Diese Carbon @äuren werden in allgemeinen in einer solchen Menge verwendet, daß die überschüssigne Carbonsylgruppen (das ist die Zahl der w zwei verminderten freien Carbonsylgruppen der mindestens dreibasischen Säure) nicht höher ist als 20 Aequivalent Y und vorzugsweise nicht höher als 10 Aequivalent %, Solche mindestens dreibasischen Carbonsäuren könne auch zusammen itt annähernd äquivalenten Mengen (im Sinne der vorherigen Definition) von Monocarbonsäuren, vorzugaweise Bensossäure oder Fettsäuren Mit Mindestens 12 C-Atémen, oder Mit einwertigen Alkeholen verwendet werden.
- Erfindungagemä# erhält aaa klare, bruchfeste Polyesterharse von guter Biegefestifkeit, die für viele Zwecke brauchbar sind. rur sich genommen, sind sie wertvolle Lackrohatoffe. Sie eignen sich auch zur herstellung von Ueberzügen alt Metallen. Sie können aber auch, soweit sie nooh clefimisch ungesättigte Gruppen enthalten, in an sich bekannter Weize, z.B. bei Temperaturen von 0 bis 150°C, nit copolymerisierbaren Monomeren fl Kunstharzen bzw. Kunststeffen mit guten mochanischem Eigenschaften verarbeitet werden, und können mit besonders guten Erfolg zur Herstellung von glasfaserverstärkten Produkten verwendet werden. Derartige Produkte lassen sich gut aus den r.rzen lösen.
- Für diese Copelymerisation sind beispielsweise geeignet; Vinyltoluol, Vinylpyrreliden, Styrel, α-Methylestyrel, α-Ühlorstyrel, divinglbessel, finyleasetat, Vingylpropiennt, Allylesetat, allylpropienat, Diallylmalent, -fumarat, -sueeinat, -adipat, -aselat, -sebacat oder -phthalat; Triallylphosphat, Triallyleyamurat, Methyl-, Acethyl-, Prepyl-, (primär, sckundär, tertiär oder isc-) Dutyl-, Amyl-, Hexyl-, Oetyl-, Allylasrylat oder -methrerylat, Diallylitase@@t, Acrylnitril oder ein Gemiseh solsher Monomeren.
- Die beverzungten Monsmeren sind also selehe Verbindungen, is de@en die @uppe -CH= -CH2 an ein negatives Radikal gebundes ist, wie an einen Ben elkern, an die Estergruppe oder an die Nitrilgruppe. Beverzugt sind selhe Mememerem, die ksine kenjugierten Deppelbindungen enthalten und die er-lerweis. Itissig na.
- Die Menge der olefinischen Monomeren kann Je nach dem benbichtigten Verwendungszweck in weiten Grenzn achwanken. Vielfach beträgt sie zwischen 30 und 50 Gewichtsprozent des Polyesterharzen, jedoch können auch erhoblioh gö#ere, z.B. 80%, oder kleinere Mengen, z.B. 10%, verwendet werden.
- Geeignete Katalysatoren sind z.B. Bennoylperoxyd, 2,4-Dichlorbenzoylperoxyd, Acetylperoxyd, tert.-Butylperoxyd oder-hydroperoxyd, succinylperexyd, Lauroylperoxyd, Cyclochexylperoxyd, cyclohexanonperoxyd, Methyläthylketonperoxyd, methylisobutlketon-peroxyd, Dibenzaldiperoxyd, Kumolhydroperoxyd, 2,2-bis-(tetiär-butylperoxy)-butan, tert.-Butylperacetat, tert. Butylperbenzoat, ditertiärbutyldipersuocinat, -diperphthalat, -diperterephthalat oder Asoisobutyponitril. Gegebenenfalls können auch Beschleuniger mitverwendet werden wie tertiäre Amins, Dimethylanilin, dimethyl-p-toluidin odes dergleichen, oder Schwermetallsalse organischer Säuren, z.B. Kobaltnaphthenat oder -octoat.
- In allen Fällen können natürlich statt einheitlicher Stoffe auch Gemische mehrere Stoffe verwendet werden, also mehrere Säuren, alkohole, Ester, Monomere usw.
Claims (1)
- Patentansprüche 1. Weitere Ausbildung des vorfahrens zur herstellung von Polyesteraurzon, wobei schwerlösliche hochmolekulare Terephthalsäurediolester, gegebenenfalls unter Druck, entweder itt anderen ) gesättigton oder ungesättigten, vorzugsweise olefinisch ungetättigten, Dicarbonsäuren als Terephthalsäure oder deren Anhydriden, M@noestern, Di estern oder cligomoren Estern ungesetzt und anschlie#end aLt mehrwertigen, fasbesoudere zweiwertigen alkoholen, vorzugsweise solchen mit siedepunkten ven aebr als 200°C verbstert oder itt b) den unter a) definierten Alkoholen umgeestert uad dann mit don unter a) definierten Dicarbonsäuren odor deren Derisatea weiter verestert worden, wobei äthylenisch ungesättigte Gruppen enthaltende Reaktichaprodukte gegebenenfalls mit polymerisierbaren Mono@eren mischpolymorisiert werden, nach patent ............... (Anmeldung C 25 265 IVd/ 39 c), dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß nolche hochmolekularen diolester verwendet werden, deren Säurekomponente neben oder anstelle von Terephthnolsäure Isophthals#ure ist. a. Ausbildung des Verfahrens gemä# Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzoichnet, daß anstolle der unter a) genannten Dicarbonsäuren bzw. doren Derivaten und der gloichfallm unter a) genaunten zwciwertigen Alkohole Gumische dieser Komponenten verwendet worden.3. Ansbildung des Verfuhrens nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennscichnet, da# zuetitzlioh au den Dicarbonsüuren bzw. deren Derivaten Monbhydroxymonocarbonsliuren verwendet werdon, woboi das Molverhültuig Dicarbonshure zu Monohydroxymonocarbonsliure flieht kleiner ist als 1:2.
