(iinkorr.) erhalten.
Additional patent to main patent no. 308272. Process for the production of a metal-containing azo dye. It has been found that a new, valuable, metal-containing azo dye is obtained by using the monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0005
lets chromium-donating agents act in such a way that an azo dye that contains an honesty is formed which contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to a chromium atom in a complex.
When dried, the new dye is a dark-colored substance that dyes wool from a neutral or acetic acid bath in pure, reddish blue, washable and lightfast tones.
The monoazo dye used as starting material and corresponding to the above formula can be prepared by coupling the 8-chloro-1-oxynaphthalene-5-sulfonic acid methylamide using methods known per se, eg. B, 4-chloro-2-amino-1-oxybenzene diaozted by means of hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite produced who the.
The treatment with the chromium-releasing agents takes place, as already mentioned, in such a way that a chromium-containing dye is created which contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to one atom of chromium in a complex. Accordingly, the chromium plating is expediently carried out with such chromium-releasing agents and by methods which, experience has shown, provide complex chromium compounds of this composition. It is generally advisable to use less than one, but at least half an atom of chromium on one molecule of a dye and / or to carry out the chromating in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium.
Accordingly, those chromium compounds that are stable in an alkaline medium are particularly well suited for carrying out the process, such as B. such chromium compounds of aliphatic oxycarboxylic acids or preferably aromatic o-oxycarboxylic acids, which contain the chromium in complex binding. The metallization takes place with advantage in the heat, open or under pressure, z. B. at the boiling point of the reac tion mixture, optionally in the presence. suitable additives, e.g.
B. in the presence of salts of organic acids, bases, organic solvents or other agents promoting complex formation.
Example: 14.4 parts of 4-chloro-2-amino-1-oxybenzene are diazotized with 7 parts of sodium nitrite in the customary manner in the presence of 18 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid. The resulting suspension of the diazo compound is allowed to flow into a solution, cooled to 10, of 29 parts of 8-chloro-1-oxynaphthalene-5-sulfonsäilremethylamid, 12 parts of sodium hydroxide and 60 parts of pvridine in 200 parts of water, cooled to 10. After the coupling has ended, the reaction mixture is with.
600 parts of water are diluted and the resulting dye is filtered off after the addition of 23 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid and washed with water. The dye is converted into the complex chromium compound, preferably without prior drying. For this purpose, the information provided above. The dye paste obtained is stirred with 700 parts of hot water.
After adding 9 Tei len sodium hydroxide and 100 parts of a solution of chromsalicylsatirem sodium with a chromium content of 2.6% heated. the reaction mixture is refluxed for 4 hours.
If necessary, dissolved impurities are filtered off and the chromium compound formed is separated off from the filtrate by adding sodium chloride and hydrochloric acid.
The 8-chloro-1-oxynaphtha.lin-5-sulfonsanre- methylamide can be prepared as follows by treating with phosphorus ehloriden into the corresponding sulfochloride and this with methylamine into the
Sulfonic acid methylamide transferred. After the p-toliolsulphonic acid residue has been saponified by boiling with dilute sodium hydroxide solution, the 8-chloro-1-oxynaphthalene-5-sulphonic acid methylamide has a melting point of 178-1.81. (iincorr.) received.
