- the fluid sterilization apparatus 10 performs sterilization by irradiating ultraviolet light from the first light source 50 and the second light source 55 toward the fluid flowing through the processing flow path 12.
- the fluid to be processed flows into the processing flow path 12 from the second end 22 through the inflow pipe 48, the inlet 47, the second rectifying chamber 14, and the second gap 16.
- the fluid flowing in the processing flow path 12 is rectified so that the flow velocity v 1 near the center is relatively fast and the flow velocity v 2 near the inner surface 23 is relatively slow in a cross section orthogonal to the axial direction.
- the fluid that has passed through the processing flow path 12 flows out from the first end portion 21 through the first gap 15, the first rectifying chamber 13, the outlet 37, and the outlet pipe 38.
- the second rectifying chamber 14 arranges the flow of the fluid flowing in through the inflow pipe 48 and the inflow port 47, and passes through the second gap 16 from a different position in the circumferential direction to radiate (radially inside) the processing flow path 12.
- the flow of fluid flowing into the chamber is made uniform.
- the second rectifying chamber 14 uniformizes the flow of the second gap 16 so that the flow of the processing flow channel 12 is rectified from a position in the vicinity of the second end 22.
- the first rectifying chamber 13 regulates the flow of the fluid that flows out through the outlet 37 and the outlet pipe 38, and the flow of the fluid that flows out radially (outward in the radial direction) from the processing channel 12 through the first gap 15.
- the first rectifying chamber 13 maintains the flow of the processing flow channel 12 in a rectified state up to a position near the first end 21 by making the flow of the first gap 15 uniform.
- the first light source 50 and the second light source 55 irradiate ultraviolet light toward the fluid that is rectified as described above and flows through the processing flow path 12. Since the first light source 50 and the second light source 55 have an intensity distribution in which the intensity near the center is high and the intensity outside in the radial direction is low as shown in FIG. 2, the intensity corresponds to the flow velocity distribution of the processing flow path 12. Can be irradiated with ultraviolet light. That is, it is possible to irradiate high-intensity ultraviolet light in the vicinity of the center where the flow velocity is high, and to irradiate low-intensity ultraviolet light to the radially outer position where the flow velocity is low.
- the amount of energy of ultraviolet light acting on the fluid passing through the processing flow path 12 can be made uniform regardless of the radial position where the fluid passes. Thereby, it is possible to irradiate the entire fluid flowing through the processing flow path 12 with ultraviolet light having a predetermined energy amount or more, and to enhance the sterilizing effect on the entire fluid.
- FIG. 3 shows a configuration of a fluid sterilizer 80 according to a comparative example.
- the fluid sterilizer 80 includes a straight pipe 82 that partitions the processing flow path 81, and a light source 88 that irradiates the inside of the straight pipe 82 with ultraviolet light.
- the straight pipe 82 has a first end 83 and a second end 84.
- the first end 83 is provided with an inlet 85 extending in the radial direction
- the second end 84 is provided with an outlet 86 extending in the radial direction.
- the first end portion 83 is provided with a window portion 87 for transmitting ultraviolet light from the light source 88.
- the fluid flowing in from the inlet 85 flows in the processing channel 81 in the axial direction and flows out from the outlet 86. Since the inflow port 85 is directly attached to the side of the straight pipe 82, the fluid flow is disturbed in the vicinity of the first end 83.
- the fluid flowing in from the inflow port 85 has a dominant flow toward the side wall of the straight pipe 82 facing the inflow port 85, and the velocity of the fluid flowing near the side wall facing the inflow port 85 inside the processing channel 81. Is relatively fast. As a result, an asymmetric velocity distribution is generated with respect to the central axis A of the straight tube 82 as shown in the figure, and it becomes difficult to efficiently apply the ultraviolet light from the light source 88 to the fluid. Further, in the comparative example, since a part of the ultraviolet light output from the light source 88 can be directly directed to the inlet 85, the ultraviolet light is likely to leak from the inlet 85.
- the present embodiment since the first rectifying chamber 13 and the second rectifying chamber 14 are provided at both ends of the flow channel tube 20, it is possible to suppress the turbulence of the flow generated in the processing flow channel 12 as compared with the comparative example. . In particular, it is easy to maintain a rectified state even when the average flow velocity of the fluid passing through the processing flow path 12 is increased in order to increase the processing capacity of the fluid sterilizer 10. Therefore, according to the present embodiment, it is possible to enhance the bactericidal effect by effectively applying ultraviolet light to the fluid flowing in a less disturbed state.
- most of the ultraviolet light output from the first light source 50 and the second light source 55 is configured to be incident on the inside of the channel tube 20, and the ultraviolet light that is incident on the inside of the channel tube 20. Propagates in the axial direction while repeatedly reflecting on the inner surface 23 of the flow channel tube 20. Therefore, the sterilization efficiency can be increased by efficiently using the ultraviolet light output from the first light source 50 and the second light source 55.
- the protruding portions 21a and 21b are provided in the first end portion 21 and the second end portion 22 within a range that does not interfere with the incidence of ultraviolet light, a larger amount of ultraviolet light is confined inside the flow channel tube 20. The utilization efficiency of ultraviolet light can be increased.
- the ultraviolet light leaking out of the flow channel tube 20. can be reduced.
- the first casing 30 and the second casing 40 are made of a material that hardly reflects ultraviolet light, the ultraviolet light propagates while reflecting the inner surface of the first casing 30 or the second casing 40.
- the ultraviolet light can be prevented from leaking out of the fluid sterilizer 10 from the outflow pipe 38 or the inflow pipe 48. Thereby, while improving the safety

- a first spacer 139 is provided for connecting the two.
- the first spacers 139 are provided at four positions as shown in FIG. 5, for example. The flow path is closed at the position where the first spacer 139 is provided, and the position where the first spacer 139 is not provided is the outlet 137.
- the second side wall 42 of the second housing 40 is provided with second rib pairs 148 a and 148 b that define the inlet 147.
- the pair of second ribs 148a and 148b are annular members that protrude radially outward from the second side wall 42, and face each other in the axial direction.
- a second spacer 149 for connecting the two is provided between the second rib pair 148a and 148b. The position where the second spacer 149 is provided is blocked by the flow path, and the position where the second spacer 149 is not provided is the inlet 147.

- the rectifying chamber 213 is defined by the flow channel pipe 20, the side wall 232, the inner end wall 233 and the window portion 236, and has substantially the same axial length as the flow channel pipe 20. Therefore, the rectifying chamber 213 has a section extending in the axial direction from the first end portion 21 toward the second end portion 22 outside the flow channel pipe 20.
- the outlet 237 is provided at a position away from the first end 21 in the axial direction, and is provided at a position closer to the second end 22 than the first end 21.
