Abstract
Description
本形態に係る有機発光素子用インク組成物は、有機発光素子材料、レベリング剤、および溶媒を含む。この際、前記レベリング剤は、少なくともシロキサンモノマーおよび疎水性モノマーを共重合させてなるブロック共重合体である。なお、前記有機発光素子用インク組成物には、その他、必要に応じて、界面活性剤等が含まれていてもよい。
有機発光素子材料としては、有機発光素子を構成する層に使用される材料であれば特に制限されない。一実施形態において、有機発光素子用インク組成物が含有しうる有機発光素子材料としては、発光層に使用される発光材料、正孔注入層に使用される正孔注入材料、正孔輸送層に使用される正孔輸送材料、電子輸送層に使用される電子輸送材料、および電子注入層に使用される電子注入材料が挙げられる。
発光材料は、発光層において、正孔および電子を利用して行う発光に直接または間接に寄与する機能を有する。なお、本明細書において、「発光」には、蛍光による発光および燐光による発光を含むものとする。
ホスト材料は、通常、発光層に注入された正孔および電子を輸送する機能を有する。
ドーパント材料は、輸送された正孔および電子を再結合することにより得られるエネルギーを利用して発光する機能を有する。
正孔注入材料は、正孔注入層において、陽極から正孔を取り入れる機能を有する。この際、正孔注入材料が取り入れた正孔は、正孔輸送層または発光層に輸送される。
正孔輸送材料は、正孔輸送層において、正孔を効率的に輸送する機能を有する。正孔は、通常、正孔輸送材料から発光層に輸送される。
電子輸送材料は、電子輸送層において、電子を効率的に輸送する機能を有する。電子は、通常、電子輸送材料から発光層に輸送される。
電子注入材料は、電子注入層において、陰極から電子を取り入れる機能を有する。この際、電子注入層が取り入れた電子は、電子輸送層または発光層に輸送される。
一実施形態において、レべリング剤は、有機発光素子用インク組成物を用いて有機発光素子を構成する層を形成する際に、得られる層のうねりを防止する機能を有する。
シロキサンモノマーは、シロキサン基、重合性官能基、および第1の連結基を含む。この際、前記第1の連結基は、前記シロキサン基と前記重合性官能基とを連結させるものである。なお、本明細書において、「シロキサン」とは、「-Si-O-Si-」の構造(シロキサン構造)を意味する。
疎水性モノマーは、疎水性基、重合性官能基、および第2の連結基を含む。この際、前記第2の連結基は、前記疎水性基と前記重合性官能基とを連結させるものである。なお、本明細書において、「疎水性基」とは、疎水性基が水素原子と結合してなる分子の水への溶解度(25℃、25%RH)が100mg/L以下のものを意味する。
重合開始剤は、通常、ブロック共重合体を形成する際に適用されるリビングアニオン重合の開始剤の機能を有する。この際、重合開始剤は、シロキサンモノマーの重合性官能基、疎水性モノマーの重合性官能基等と反応して重合を開始させることができる。この場合には、得られるブロック共重合体には、重合開始剤に起因する成分が含まれることとなる。
本形態に係るブロック共重合体は、シロキサンモノマーおよび疎水性モノマーを共重合させてなる構造を含む。
一実施形態において、有機発光素子用インク組成物に適用される溶媒は、特に制限されず、形成する層に応じて適宜公知のものが使用されうる。具体的には、芳香族系溶媒、アルカン系溶媒、エーテル系溶媒、アルコール系溶媒、エステル系溶媒、アミド系溶媒、他の溶媒等が挙げられる。
本発明の一実施形態において、有機発光素子用インク組成物の製造方法は、特に制限されないが、(1)レベリング剤および溶媒を含む溶液または分散液を調製し、次いで、当該溶液または分散液に有機発光素子材料を添加する方法、(2)有機発光素子材料および溶媒を含む溶液または分散液を調製し、次いで、当該溶液または分散液にレベリング剤を添加する方法、(3)レベリング剤および溶媒を含む溶液または分散液と、有機発光素子材料および溶媒を含む溶液または分散液とをそれぞれ調製し、これらの溶液または分散液を混合する方法等が挙げられる。
本発明の一形態によれば、陽極、発光層、および陰極を含む有機発光素子が提供される。この際、前記発光層が、レベリング剤を含み、前記レベリング剤が、少なくともシロキサンモノマーおよび疎水性モノマーを共重合させてなるブロック共重合体であることを特徴とする。
陽極としては、特に制限されないが、金(Au)等の金属、ヨウ化銅(CuI)、インジウムスズ酸化物(ITO)、酸化スズ(SnO2)、酸化亜鉛(ZnO)等が用いられうる。これらの材料は、単独で用いても、2種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
正孔注入層は、有機発光素子において任意の構成要素であり、陽極から正孔を取り入れる機能を有する。通常、陽極から取り入れた正孔は、正孔輸送層または発光層に輸送される。
正孔輸送層は、有機発光素子において任意の構成要素であり、正孔を効率的に輸送する機能を有する。また、正孔輸送層は、正孔の輸送を防止する機能を有しうる。正孔輸送層は、通常、陽極または正孔注入層から正孔を取り入れ、発光層に正孔を輸送する。
発光層は、発光層に注入された正孔および電子の再結合により生じるエネルギーを利用して発光を生じさせる機能を有する。
電子輸送層は、有機発光素子において任意の構成要素であり、電子を効率的に輸送する機能を有する。また、電子輸送層は、電子の輸送を防止する機能を有しうる。電子輸送層は、通常、陰極または電子注入層から電子を取り入れ、発光層に電子を輸送する。
電子注入層は、有機発光素子において任意の構成要素であり、陰極から電子を取り入れる機能を有する。通常、陰極から取り入れた電子は、電子輸送層または発光層に輸送される。
陰極としては、特に制限されないが、リチウム、ナトリウム、マグネシウム、アルミニウム、ナトリウム-カリウム合金、マグネシウム/アルミニウム混合物、マグネシウム/インジウム混合物、アルミニウム/酸化アルミニウム(Al2O3)混合物、希土類金属等が挙げられる。これらの材料は、単独で用いても、2種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
[合成例1]
ポリジメチルシロキサンを有するモノマーおよびスチレンモノマーを共重合させてなるブロック共重合体Aを合成した。
アルゴンガスで置換した100mLナスフラスコ中に、注射器を用いてスチレンモノマー145.8gおよびテトラヒドロフラン(THF)189.0mLを投入し、撹拌することでスチレンモノマー溶液(4.0M)350mLを調製した。
アルゴンガスで置換した100mLナスフラスコ中に、注射器を用いてメタクリロキシプロピルポリジメチルシロキサン有するモノマーである「サイラプレーンFM-0711」(α-ブチル-ω-(3-メタクリロキシプロピル)ポリジメチルシロキサン、平均分子量:1000、JNC株式会社製)25.0gおよびTHF75.0mLを投入し、撹拌することにより、メタクリロキシプロピルポリジメチルシロキサンを有するモノマー溶液(0.5M)100mLを調製した。
アルゴンガスで置換した100mLナスフラスコ中に、注射器を用いてヘキサン144.2mLを投入し、氷冷した。冷却後、n-BuLi溶液(2.6M)5.8mLを投入し、撹拌することにより、n-BuLi溶液(0.1M)150mLを調製した。
アルゴンガスで置換した100mLナスフラスコ中に、注射器を用いてDPE3.2gおよびTHF176.8mLを投入し、撹拌することにより、DPE溶液(0.1M)180mLを調製した。
アルゴンガスで置換した100mLナスフラスコ中に、注射器を用いてメタノール2.48gおよびTHF46.9mLを投入し、撹拌することにより、メタノール溶液(1.5M)50mLを調製した。
シロキサンモノマーとして、トリス(トリメチルシロキシ)シリルを有するモノマーである「サイラプレーンTM-0701T」(3-メタクリロキシプロピルトリス(トリメチルシロキシ)シラン、平均分子量:423、JNC株式会社製)を用いたことを除いては、合成例1と同様の方法で、ブロック共重合体Bを合成した。
ポリジメチルシロキサンを有するモノマーおよびスチレンモノマーを共重合させてなるランダム共重合体Aを合成した。
ポリジメチルシロキサンを有するモノマーおよび疎水性モノマーを共重合させてなるランダム共重合体Bを合成した。
アルゴンガスで置換した300mLナスフラスコ中に、注射器を用いて疎水性モノマーである2-(ジメチルアミノ)エチルメタクリレート(DMAMA)7.1g(7.6mL)、ポリジメチルシロキサンを有するモノマーである「サイラプレーンFM-0711」(α-ブチル-ω-(3-メタクリロキシプロピル)ポリジメチルシロキサン、JNC株式会社製)45.0g(46.9mL)、およびTHF95.6mLを投入し、撹拌することで、DMAMAおよびFM-0711の濃度がそれぞれ0.3Mの混合溶液150mLを調製した。
アルゴンガスで置換した100mLナスフラスコ中に、注射器を用いてジフェニルエチレン1.3g(1.2mL)およびTHF66.1mLを投入した後、氷水を浸した容器に浸漬させて冷却した。冷却後、注射器を用いてn-ブチルリチウムの2.6Mヘキサン溶液2.7mLを投入し撹拌することにより、DPhLi溶液(0.1M)70mLを調製した。
アルゴンガスで置換した100mLナスフラスコ中に、注射器を用いてMeOH0.53g(0.64mL)およびTHF49.4mLを投入し撹拌することにより、MeOHの0.33M溶液(0.33M)50mLを調製した。
有機発光素子材料として発光材料を用いた有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
合成例1で合成したブロック共重合体A 0.01gを溶媒であるヘキシルベンゼン99.9gに溶解させた。得られた溶液に、0.004gのトリス[2-(p-トリル)ピリジン]イリジウム(Ir(mppy)3)(Lumtec社製)と、0.026gの9,9’-(p-tert-ブチルフェニル)-1,3-ビスカルバゾールH-1(DIC株式会社製)と、を添加し、60℃で加熱することで、有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をペンチルベンゼンに変更したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をドデシルベンゼンに変更したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をシクロヘキシルベンゼンに変更したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をクメンに変更したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をテトラリンに変更したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒を1-メチルナフタレンに変更したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をブチルフェニルエーテルに変更したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒を酢酸フェニルに変更したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
ブロック共重合体Aの代わりに、合成例2で合成したブロック共重合体Bを用いたことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をペンチルベンゼンに変更したことを除いては、実施例10と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をドデシルベンゼンに変更したことを除いては、実施例10と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をシクロヘキシルベンゼンに変更したことを除いては、実施例10と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をクメンに変更したことを除いては、実施例10と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をテトラリンに変更したことを除いては、実施例10と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒を1-メチルナフタレンに変更したことを除いては、実施例10と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をブチルフェニルエーテルに変更したことを除いては、実施例10と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒を酢酸フェニルに変更したことを除いては、実施例10と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
ブロック共重合体Aの代わりに、ジメチルシロキサンKF-96(信越化学工業株式会社製)を用い、使用する溶媒をテトラリンに変更したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
ブロック共重合体Aの代わりに、ランダム共重合体Aを用いたことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をペンチルベンゼンに変更したことを除いては、比較例2と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
使用する溶媒をドデシルベンゼンに変更したことを除いては、比較例2と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
ブロック共重合体Aの代わりに、ランダム共重合体Bを用いたことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で有機発光素子用インク組成物を製造した。
実施例1~18および比較例1~5で製造した有機発光素子用インク組成物について各種評価を行った。
インジウムスズ酸化物(ITO)基板上に、0.1μLの有機発光素子用インク組成物を滴下し、25℃、1Torrで減圧乾燥した。得られた有機薄膜の凸部の膜厚および凹部の膜厚を、光干渉表面形状計測装置(株式会社菱化システム製)を用いて測定し、以下の基準に従って評価した。なお、前記凸部とは有機薄膜表面のうち水平面を基準として最も高いものを意味し、前記凹部とは有機薄膜表面のうち水平面を基準として最も低いものを意味する。
○:凹部の膜厚に対する凸部の膜厚の値(凸部膜厚/凹部膜厚)が2.0超2.5以下である
△:凹部の膜厚に対する凸部の膜厚の値(凸部膜厚/凹部膜厚)が2.5超3.0以下である
×:凹部の膜厚に対する凸部の膜厚の値(凸部膜厚/凹部膜厚)が3.0超である
有機発光素子を作製し、得られた有機発光素子についての輝度ムラを測定した。
○:輝度のバラツキ率が30%超50%以下である
△:輝度のバラツキ率が50%超70%以下である
×:輝度のバラツキ率が70%超である
輝度ムラの評価の際に作製した有機発光素子を用いて、発光効率を評価した。
○:発光効率が25cd/A以上30cd/A未満
△:発光効率が20cd/A以上25cd/A未満
×:発光効率が20cd/A未満

Claims (11)
- 有機発光素子材料、レベリング剤、および溶媒を含み、
前記レベリング剤が、少なくともシロキサンモノマーおよび疎水性モノマーを共重合させてなるブロック共重合体である、有機発光素子用インク組成物。 - 前記疎水性モノマーが、芳香族含有モノマーである、請求項1に記載の有機発光素子用インク組成物。
- 前記レベリング剤のケイ素含有率が、0.1質量%以上である、請求項1または2に記載の有機発光素子用インク組成物。
- 前記溶媒が、縮合環式芳香族溶媒、エーテル系芳香族溶媒、およびエステル系芳香族溶媒からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載の有機発光素子用インク組成物。
- 前記有機発光素子材料が、発光材料である、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の有機発光素子用インク組成物。
- 前記発光材料が、低分子発光材料である、請求項5に記載の有機発光素子用インク組成物。
- 陽極、発光層、および陰極を含み、
前記発光層が、レベリング剤を含み、
