上記結晶は、高分子の分子鎖が配向しており、且つ結晶サイズが50nm以下であるポリエステルの結晶を含むナノ配向結晶であり、
耐熱温度が、上記ポリエステルの平衡融点より80℃低い温度、よりも高温であることを特徴としている。
本発明は、高い耐熱温度と融点とを備えたポリエステルの結晶を含むポリエステルシートに関する。上記「ポリエステルシート」とは、平均厚みが0.15mm以上のシート状のポリエステルのみならず、平均厚みが0.15mm未満のフィルム状のポリエステルをも含む意味である。なお、上記平均厚みは特に制限されず、用いる目的に応じて適宜押出量などで調整すればよい。具体的な厚みは1μm~10mmの範囲、さらに2μm~5mm、特に3μm~1mmの範囲が好ましく挙げられる。ここで上記「厚み」とは、一定の静的荷重の下で測定した、高分子シートの片方の面ともう一つの面との距離をいう。また「平均厚み」とは高分子シートの厚みの最大値と最小値との平均値を意味する。なお高分子シートの厚みは、マイクロメーターを用いる、または光学式実体顕微鏡(オリンパス株式会社製、SZX10-3141)と対物マイクロメーターで校正したスケールを用いることによって測定され得る。

本発明のポリエステルシートを構成するNOCの構造を、偏光顕微鏡とX線回析の結果から推定した。図6に実施例で得られたPETのNOCの構造モデルを示す。実施例で得られたポリエステルシートを構成するNOCは、紡錘状の結晶(NC)が伸長方向(MD)に沿って数珠状に連なったような構造であるということが分かった。紡錘状とは、紡錘に似た形状を意味し、円柱状で真中が太く、両端が次第に細くなるような形状を意味する。またはラグビーボールにも似た形状であるため、「紡錘状」は「ラグビーボール状」とも表現できる。
本発明のポリエステルシートの製造方法は特に限定されるものではないが、例えば、下記のようにして製造することができる。なお、下記の製造方法は、融液状態のポリエステルを圧延伸長して結晶化(固化)を行う方法であり、一旦固化したポリエステルシートを圧延伸長して延伸シートを作製する方法とは全く異なる方法である。

本実施例においては、表1に示すPETとPENとが試料の材料として用いられた。
比較例1では、表1のPET1を押出成形機(プラスチック工学研究所製、PLABOR)を用いてPETシートを作製した。押出成形の条件は、設定温度280℃で樹脂を溶融させダイからシート状に押し出し、温度20℃に設定したキャストロール上に静電印加法にて設置させ、シートを固化させた。
上記で得られた各試料について、偏光顕微鏡観察を行った。偏光顕微鏡は、オリンパス(株)製BX51N-33P-OCを用い、クロスニコルで観察を行った。レタデーション変化を定量的に測定するために、鋭敏色検板を偏光顕微鏡のポラライザーとアナライザー(偏光板)の間に挿入した(参考文献:高分子素材の偏光顕微鏡入門 粟屋 裕、アグネ技術センター、2001年、p.75-103)。偏光顕微鏡による観察は、室温25℃で行った。試料に対して、シート厚さ方向(ND、through方向)から、観察を行った。
各種試料を、SAXS法を用いて観察した。SAXS法は、「高分子X線回折 角戸 正夫 笠井 暢民、丸善株式会社、1968年」や「高分子X線回折 第3.3版 増子 徹、山形大学生協、1995年」の記載に準じて行われた。より具体的には、(財)高輝度光科学研究センター(JASRI)SPring-8、ビームライン BL03XUまたはBL40B2において、X線の波長λ=0.1~0.15nm、カメラ長1.5m~3mで、検出器にイメージングプレート(Imaging Plate)を用いて、室温25℃で行った。MDとTDに垂直な方向(through)とTDに平行な方向(edge)とMDに平行な方向(end)の3方向について観察した。throughとedgeの試料についてはMDをZ軸方向にセットし、endについてはTDをZ軸方向にセットし、X線の露出時間は5秒~180秒で行った。イメージングプレートを株式会社リガク製の読取装置と読込みソフトウェア(株式会社リガク、raxwish,control)とで読取り、2次元イメージを得た。
各種試料を、WAXS法を用いて観察した。WAXS法は、(財)高輝度光科学研究センター(JASRI)SPring-8、ビームラインBL03XUまたはBL40B2で、X線の波長(λ)はλ=0.1~0.15nm、カメラ長(R)はR=260mm~310mmで、検出器にイメージングプレート(Imaging Plate)を用いて、室温25℃で行った。throughとedgeの試料についてはMDをZ軸方向にセットし、endについてはTDをZ軸方向にセットし、X線の露出時間は10秒~180秒で行った。イメージングプレートを株式会社リガク製の読取装置と読込みソフトウェア(株式会社リガク、raxwish,control)とで読取り、2次元イメージを得た。
図4(a)および図5(a)を表計算ソフトウェア(WaveMetrics社製、Igor Pro)で解析を行うことにより、PETの実施例に係る試料およびPETの比較例に係る試料の配向関数fcを得た。図4(a)に示す010反射について、偏角(β)-広角X線散乱強度(Ix)曲線は、バックグラウンド補正をして得られた。より具体的には、
配向関数の式:fc=(3<cos2β>-1)÷2
ただし、
PETの実施例に係る試料およびPETの比較例に係る試料の密度ρを求めた。密度ρは、密度勾配管法比重測定装置 MODEL-A(柴山科学機械製作所)を用いて測定された。
図2のMD方向、TD方向、ND方向の2点像から、PETの実施例に係る試料の結晶サイズ(d)を求めた。SAXS法における、散乱ベクトル(q)-小角X線散乱強度(Ix)曲線の1次のピークは、平均サイズdの微結晶がランダムにお互いに詰まっている場合の微結晶間最近接距離(=結晶サイズd)に相当するため(参考文献:A.Guinier著、「X線結晶学の理論と実際」、理学電機(株)、p513、1967)、結晶サイズdはBraggの式から求められる。

PETの実施例に係る試料(表2のサンプル7)の結晶サイズ(NCの結晶サイズ)は、MD方向21nm、TDおよびND方向に15nmであるということが分かった。また、PETの実施例に係る試料(表2のサンプル11)の結晶サイズ(NCの結晶サイズ)は、MD方向21nm、TD方向15nmおよびND方向16nmであるということが分かった。さらに、PETの実施例に係る試料(表2のサンプル12)の結晶サイズ(NCの結晶サイズ)は、MD方向21nm、TD方向14nmであるということが分かった。その他、PETの実施例に係る試料(表2のサンプル13)の結晶サイズ(NCの結晶サイズ)は、MD方向21nm、TD方向15nmであるということが分かった。そして、PETの実施例に係る試料(表2のサンプル14)の結晶サイズ(NCの結晶サイズ)は、MD方向21nm、TD方向14nmおよびND方向17nmであるということが分かった。
PETの実施例に係る試料(表2のサンプル7および14)、PENの実施例に係る試料(表2のサンプル10)、PETの比較例に係る試料およびPENの比較例に係る試料の耐熱温度を、光学顕微鏡を用いた試験片サイズ直読法により測定した。ホットステージ(Linkam社製,L-600A)内に試験片(たて0.7mm、よこ0.5mm)を置き、昇温速度1K/分でホットステージ内を昇温した。この時、CCDカメラ付光学顕微鏡(オリンパス(株)製BX51N-33P-OC)で観察と記録を行った。画像解析ソフトウェア(Media Cybernetics社製、Image-Pro PLUS)を用いて、試験片のたて方向(MD)、およびよこ方向(TD)を定量的に計測し、MDまたはTDに3%以上収縮(又は膨張)を開始した時の温度を、耐熱温度Thとした。またPETの実施例に係る試料、PENの実施例に係る試料、PETの比較例に係る試料およびPENの比較例に係る試料の融点Tmも併せて検討した。
2次元イメージ解析ソフトウェア(株式会社リガク、Display Win)を用いて、図11(b)の解析を行った(図15)。図15中、A*、B*およびC*はNOCの逆格子ベクトルであり、β* NCはA*とC*のなす角度である。また、Unique axisは、B*//TDである。ψは、C*とMDのなす角度であり、φは、A*とNDのなす角度であり、時計回りを正とした。
各種試料の試験片を切り出し、高耐熱性ポリエステルシート表面にレーザーマーカーでMDの方向とTDの方向にそれぞれ標点を付与した。続いて、260℃のはんだ浴にサンプルを浸漬し、30秒間浮かべた後、はんだ浴から取り出し、レーザーマークした標点から、下記式に基づき、変形率(%)を算出した。

Claims (12)
- 多価カルボン酸とポリアルコールとの重縮合体であるポリエステルの結晶を含むポリエステルシートであって、
上記結晶は、高分子の分子鎖が配向しており、且つ結晶サイズが50nm以下であるポリエステルの結晶を含むナノ配向結晶であり、
耐熱温度が、上記ポリエステルの平衡融点より80℃低い温度、よりも高温であることを特徴とする、ポリエステルシート。 - 上記ポリエステルの平衡融点より40℃低い温度、よりも高温の融点であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のポリエステルシート。
- 上記ナノ配向結晶は、紡錘状の結晶が数珠状に連なったような構造からなる、請求項1または2に記載のポリエステルシート。
- 上記ポリエステルシートの耐熱温度が200℃以上であることを特徴とする、請求項1~3の何れか1項に記載のポリエステルシート。
- 上記ポリエステルが、ポリエチレンテレフタレートまたはポリエチレンナフタレンジカルボキシレートである、請求項1~4の何れか1項に記載のポリエステルシート。
- 上記ポリエステルが、ポリエチレンテレフタレートである、請求項1~5の何れか1項に記載のポリエステルシート。
- 密度が1.4g/cm3以上であることを特徴とする、請求項6に記載のポリエステルシート。
- 上記ポリエステルのナノ配向結晶の結晶形態が単斜晶であることを特徴とする、請求項1~7の何れか1項に記載のポリエステルシート。
- 高温加工に用いられる請求項1~8の何れか1項に記載のポリエステルシート。
- 透明導電層付き積層体の基材に用いられる請求項9に記載のポリエステルシート。
- フレキシブル回路基板の基材に用いられる請求項9に記載のポリエステルシート。
- 請求項11に記載のポリエステルシートを基材としたフレキシブル回路基板。
