Abstract
Description
特許文献3には、ガラス原料と液体バインダーの混合物に圧力をかけて造粒体(ブリケット)を製造する方法が記載されている。ガラス原料として砂とアルカリ金属炭酸塩(例えばソーダ灰)を用い、液体バインダーとしてアルカリ金属シリケート溶液を用いることが記載されている。特許文献3には、ガラス原料の粒径に関する記載は無い。
しかしながら、ガラス溶融炉からの排ガスを冷却する方法は、エネルギーの無駄が多く、装置を大きく改造する必要がある。
本発明は、800℃を超える高温で加熱されても接着しにくい、ケイ酸塩ガラス製造用の造粒体を提供することを目的とする。
また、800℃を超える高温で加熱されても接着しにくい造粒体を用いることで熱効率を高めたガラス物品の製造方法を提供することを目的とする。
[1] ケイ酸塩ガラスの製造に用いられる造粒体の製造方法であって、アルカリ金属源、アルカリ土類金属源、および粉末状のケイ素源を必須とするガラス原料組成物と、水とを混合した後に圧縮成形する工程を有し、前記ガラス原料組成物が、造粒体から得られるケイ酸塩ガラス100質量%に対して酸化物換算で、ケイ素源を50質量%以上含有し、かつアルカリ金属源およびアルカリ土類金属源を合計で10質量%以上含有し、前記アルカリ金属源がアルカリ金属炭酸塩を含有し、前記アルカリ土類金属源の粒径加積曲線における体積累計90%の粒径を表わすD90が100μm以下であることを特徴とする造粒体の製造方法。
[3] 前記ガラス原料組成物は、酸化物基準の質量百分率表示で、SiO2:50~75%、Al2O3:0~20%、MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO:2~30%、Na2O:0~20%、K2O:0~20%、Li2O:0~5%、Na2O+K2O+Li2O:5~30%の組成を有するガラスの原料である[1]または[2]に記載の造粒体の製造方法。

本発明のガラス物品の製造方法によれば、造粒体をガラス溶融炉で溶融する前に予熱する工程において、造粒体の接着を抑制し、熱効率を高めることができる。
本明細書において「ガラス原料」は、ガラスの構成成分となる原料であり、「ガラス原料組成物」は、ガラス原料を複数含む組成物である。ガラス原料としては、酸化物や複合酸化物、熱分解により酸化物となりうる化合物が挙げられる。熱分解により酸化物となりうる化合物としては、水酸化物、炭酸塩、硝酸塩、硫酸塩、ハロゲン化物などが挙げられる。
本明細書において「造粒体」は、ガラス原料組成物を造粒したものである。
本明細書において、ガラス原料組成物と水とを混合した後に圧縮成形する方法で製造された造粒体を、圧縮成形しないで製造された造粒体と区別して、「ブリケット」ともいう。
本明細書において、組成量の全体量に用いる「造粒体から得られるケイ酸塩ガラス100質量%」とは、ガラスの原料が本発明の造粒体の成分のみの場合に、その造粒体を溶融して得られるガラス溶融物が固化したもの(すなわち、ケイ酸塩ガラス)の全質量を意味する。このため、後加工工程での表面処理等によってガラス物品の表面に加工される成分は、ガラス物品の組成(ガラス組成)には含まれないものとする。
本明細書において「D50」は、粒径加積曲線における体積累計50%の粒径である。すなわち、積算分率における50%径で表される平均粒子径である。D50が1mm以下の場合には、レーザー回折法を用いて測定された体積基準の積算分率における50%径をD50とする。
本明細書において「D90」は、粒径加積曲線における体積累計90%の粒径である。すなわち、レーザー回折法を用いて測定された体積基準の積算分率における90%径である。
レーザー回折法による粒子径測定方法としては、JIS Z8825-1(2001)に記載の方法を用いる。
本明細書において数値範囲を示す「~」は、特段の定めがない限り、その前後に記載された数値を下限値及び上限値として含む意味で使用される。
本明細書においてガラス原料の「予熱」は、ガラス原料中に含まれる炭酸塩が分解する反応(すなわち、脱炭酸反応)が完了する温度より低温でのガラス原料の加熱をいう。ガラス原料からの脱炭酸反応は、およそ1000℃以下の温度域で完了する。
本明細書においてガラス原料の「溶解」は、ガラス原料を加熱して液状化することをいう。ガラス原料は、脱炭酸反応が終了した後に溶解する。
≪造粒体の製造方法≫
本発明の造粒体の製造方法は、ガラス原料組成物と水とを混合した後に圧縮成形する工程を有する。
混合する水の量は、ガラス原料組成物100質量%に対して、1~10質量%が好ましく、3~8質量%がより好ましい。ガラス原料組成物に対する水の量は、不足すると強固な造粒体が得られ難い。ガラス原料組成物に対する水の量が過剰であると、混合時に、例えばミキサなどの装置の表面に付着しやすくなる。
ガラス原料組成物と水とを混合する際に、成形助剤を添加してもよい。成形助剤としては、ケイ酸ナトリウム(水ガラス)、粘土鉱物等が好適に用いられる。
成形助剤を用いる場合、その使用量は、ガラス原料組成物100質量%に対して5質量%以下が好ましい。
本発明において、ガラス原料組成物は、アルカリ金属源、アルカリ土類金属源、およびケイ素源を必須とする。
[ケイ素源]
ケイ素源は、公知のものを適宜用いることができる。本発明において、少なくとも粉末状のケイ素源を用いる。粉末状のケイ素源として、シリカ、長石等が挙げられる。シリカとしては、ケイ砂、石英、クリストバライト、非晶質シリカ等が挙げられる。これらのうち、良質の原料を入手しやすい点でケイ砂が好ましい。ケイ素源は、2種以上を適宜混合して用いてもよい。
ケイ素源の粒径加積曲線における体積累計50%の粒径を表わすD50は、40μm以下が好ましい。D50は、40μm以下であると800℃を超える高温で加熱されても接着しにくい造粒体、好ましくは850℃を超える高温で加熱されても接着しにくい造粒体が得られやすい。ケイ素源のD50は、35μm以下がより好ましい。
ケイ素源のD50は、ガラス原料の飛散を防止し作業性をよくするために、1μm以上が好ましく、5μm以上がより好ましい。
ケイ素源の粒径加積曲線における体積累計90%の粒径を表わすD90は、75μm以下であることが好ましい。ケイ素源のD90の下限値は、5μm以上が好ましく、13μm以上がより好ましい。
ガラス原料組成物中のケイ素源の含有量については後述する。
[アルカリ土類金属源]
本発明におけるアルカリ土類金属とは、Mg、Ca、Ba、Srを指す。アルカリ土類金属源は、溶融ガラスの製造工程中でMgO、CaO、BaO、SrOとなり得る化合物である。アルカリ土類金属源としては、アルカリ土類金属の炭酸塩、硫酸塩、硝酸塩、酸化物、水酸化物、塩化物、フッ化物が挙げられる。これらは1種でもよく2種以上を併用してもよい。
また、ドロマイトや焼成ドロマイトも使用できる。
アルカリ土類金属源の粒径加積曲線における体積累計90%の粒径を表わすD90は、100μm以下である。100μm以下であると800℃を超える高温で加熱されても接着しにくい造粒体を得ることができる。アルカリ土類金属源のD90は、80μm以下が好ましく、75μm以下がより好ましい。
アルカリ土類金属源のD90の下限値は、原料の飛散を防止する点からは、1μm以上が好ましく、5μm以上がより好ましい。
ガラス原料組成物中のアルカリ土類金属源の含有量については後述する。
本発明におけるアルカリ金属とは、Na、K、Liを指す。アルカリ金属源は、溶融ガラスの製造工程中でNa2O、K2O、Li2Oとなり得る化合物である。アルカリ金属源としては、アルカリ金属の炭酸塩、硫酸塩、硝酸塩、酸化物、水酸化物、塩化物、フッ化物が挙げられる。これらは1種でもよく2種以上を併用してもよい。アルカリ金属の硫酸塩、塩化物、フッ化物は、清澄剤でもある。
ガラス原料組成物中のアルカリ金属源の含有量については後述する。
アルミニウム源は、溶融ガラスの製造工程中でAl2O3成分となり得る化合物である。アルミニウム源としては、酸化アルミニウム、水酸化アルミウム、長石等が好適に用いられる。これらは1種でもよく2種以上を併用してもよい。
ガラス原料組成物は、さらに、ホウ酸、酸化ホウ素等のホウ素源、酸化ジルコニウム等のジルコニウム源等を含有することができる。また、ガラス原料組成物は、ガラスの清澄剤や色調調整剤となる成分を含有することができる。清澄剤や色調調整剤となる成分としては、塩化ナトリウム、塩化マグネシウム、塩化カリウム、塩化カルシウム、塩化ストロンチウム等の塩化物成分;硫酸ナトリウム、硫酸マグネシウム、硫酸カリウム、硫酸カルシウム等の硫酸塩成分;硝酸ナトリウム、硝酸マグネシウム、硝酸カリウム、硝酸カルシウム等の硝酸塩成分;蛍石(CaF2)、酸化錫(SnO、SnO2)、酸化アンチモン(Sb2O3)、弁柄(Fe2O3)、酸化チタン(TiO2)、酸化セリウム(CeO2)、酸化コバルト(CoO)、酸化クロム(III)(Cr2O3)、セレンが挙げられる。これらは1種でもよく2種以上を併用してもよい。
その他、本発明の効果を損なわない範囲で、ガラス原料として公知の化合物をガラス原料組成物に含有させることができる。
ガラス原料組成物の組成は、ガラス溶融工程で揮散しやすい成分を除き、酸化物換算でほぼ目的とするガラス物品の組成と同じになるように調整される。
ガラス原料組成物は、造粒体から得られるケイ酸塩ガラス100質量%に対して酸化物換算で、ケイ素源を50質量%以上含有し、かつアルカリ金属源およびアルカリ土類金属源を合計で10質量%以上含有する。すなわち、ガラス原料組成物の組成(酸化物表示)において、SiO2は、50質量%以上であり、アルカリ金属酸化物およびアルカリ土類金属酸化物の合計は、10質量%以上である。
ガラス原料組成物の組成において、SiO2は、50質量%以上であると、造粒体を予熱したときに造粒体同士が接着する問題が起きにくい。また、造粒体から得られるケイ酸塩ガラスの化学的耐久性に優れる。ガラス原料組成物の組成におけるSiO2は、好ましくは60質量%以上である。ガラス原料組成物の組成におけるSiO2の上限は、90質量%以下であり、80質量%以下が好ましい。SiO2の上限が90質量%以下であると、強度の高い造粒体が得られやすい。
ガラス原料組成物の組成における、アルカリ金属酸化物およびアルカリ土類金属酸化物の合計の上限は、50質量%以下であり、好ましくは40質量%以下であり、30質量%以下がより好ましい。アルカリ金属酸化物およびアルカリ土類金属酸化物の合計が50質量%以下であると、造粒体を予熱したときに造粒体同士が接着する問題がおきにくい。
ガラス原料組成物の組成における、アルカリ土類金属酸化物の合計(すなわち、MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO)は、2~30%が好ましい。より好ましくは4~23質量%であり、さらに好ましくは19~21質量%である。
また、ガラス原料組成物の組成における、アルカリ金属酸化物の合計(すなわち、Na2O+K2O+Li2O)は、5~30%が好ましい。より好ましくは7~25質量%であり、さらに好ましくは10~20質量%である。
本発明においては、少なくともアルカリ金属源の一部としてアルカリ金属炭酸塩を用いる。特に、炭酸ナトリウム(ソーダ灰)が取扱やすさの点で好ましい。
ガラス原料組成物中のアルカリ金属炭酸塩の含有量は、造粒体から得られるガラス100質量%に対してアルカリ酸化物換算で5~20質量%が好ましい。アルカリ酸化物換算でアルカリ金属炭酸塩の含有量が5質量%以上であると溶解温度を下げることができ、20質量%以下であると得られるガラスの化学的耐久性が向上する。
アルカリ金属源全体のうちのアルカリ金属炭酸塩の割合は、アルカリ酸化物換算で50質量%超が好ましく、80質量%以上がより好ましい。
また、着色剤として、酸化物基準の質量百分率表示で、Fe2O3:0~10%、TiO2:0~10%、CeO2:0~10%、CoO:0~10%、Cr2O3:0~10%、Se:0~1%などを含有してもよい。これら着色剤のより好ましい含有量は、Fe2O3:0~5%、TiO2:0~5%、CeO2:0~3%、CoO:0~1%、Cr2O3:0~1%、Se:0~1%である。これら着色剤の合計の含有量は、10%以下が好ましく、5%以下がより好ましい。
ガラス原料組成物が水酸化ナトリウムを含有すると、ガラス原料組成物を造粒する工程において、原料混合に用いるミキサや成形機が腐食されやすい。具体的にガラス原料組成物100質量%に対して、水酸化ナトリウムの含有量は、1質量%以下が好ましく、0質量%がさらに好ましい。本明細書において0質量%とは、検出限界以下であることをいう。
本発明において、ガラス原料組成物と水を混合する工程およびその後に圧縮成形して造粒体を製造する工程は、公知の手法を適宜用いて行うことができる。
まず、ガラス原料組成物を混合し、ここに水、または水および成形助剤を添加して混合し、得られた混合物を圧縮成形することが好ましい。
ガラス原料組成物の混合は、ガラス原料組成物が十分均質になる程度に行うことが好ましい。
ガラス原料組成物に水、または水および成形助剤を添加する方法としては、ガラス原料組成物に噴霧する方法が好ましい。ガラス原料組成物への噴霧は、撹拌中のガラス原料組成物に対して行ってもよいし、静止中のガラス原料組成物に対して行ってもよい。
ロール型圧縮造粒機は、概略、ブリケット形状に成形するための型となる半円溝形状の穴を備えた穴型ロール、2つのロールの間に原料を導入するホッパー、原料をロール間隙に押し込むフィーダ、それらを支えるハウジング、ロールやフィーダを駆動させるモータ等を備えている。回転する穴型ロールのロール間隙に原料を押し込み、ロール間で圧縮されることによって、成形品としての造粒体(ブリケット)が得られる。
圧縮成形により製造されたブリケットは、水を含んでいるため、乾燥してもよい。造粒体を乾燥する場合の温度は、200℃以下が好ましく、150℃以下がより好ましく、作業効率の点で100~120℃がより好ましい。得られた造粒体は、必要に応じて、篩分けしてもよい。
本発明の製造方法により得られる造粒体は、ケイ酸塩ガラスの製造に用いられる造粒体である。本発明の造粒体は、ケイ素源、アルカリ金属炭酸塩、およびアルカリ土類金属源を必須とする。
造粒体の組成は、これを加熱することにより溶融してガラス化させたときに所望のガラス組成が得られるように調整される。
造粒体の酸化物換算組成は、清澄剤成分と水を除いて造粒体から得られるケイ酸塩ガラスの組成とほぼ等しい。造粒体から得られるケイ酸塩ガラスにB2O3が含まれる場合には、溶融工程での揮発を考慮して、造粒体中のホウ酸等のB2O3換算量を、ガラス組成中のB2O3量より多くすることが好ましい。造粒体から得られるケイ酸塩ガラスにB2O3が含まれない場合でも、溶融工程で揮発すれば、造粒体にホウ酸が含まれてもよい。
造粒体の密度は、1.5~2.5(g/cm3)が好ましく、1.9~2.1(g/cm3)がより好ましい
かかる効果が得られる理由としては、ブリケットが予熱された際、ブリケット中のアルカリ土類金属源は、ケイ酸源よりも低温で溶解し、アルカリ土類金属源が存在していた箇所には低融点溶液を内包する空孔が形成される。アルカリ土類金属源の粒度が大きい場合、大きな空孔が形成されるため、空孔内に存在する低融点融液が外に浸み出しやすく、他のブリケットと接着しやすい。アルカリ土類金属源のD90が前記範囲であると、形成される空孔が小さいため、浸み出にくく、より高温までブリケット同士が接着することなく予熱できると考えられる。
かかる効果が得られる理由としては、ブリケットを予熱した際、ケイ素源よりも低温でアルカリ金属炭酸塩は、融液を形成するが、ケイ素源の粒径が小さい場合、アルカリ金属炭酸塩周囲にケイ素源が密着するため、融液は浸み出ない。しかし、ケイ素源の粒径が大きい場合、アルカリ金属炭酸塩周囲にケイ素源が密着しないため、予熱した際、融液が浸み出るためと考えられる。
本発明の製造方法で得られる造粒体は、800℃以上の高温で加熱されても造粒体同士の接着が生じにくいため、造粒体の予熱温度を高くして、炭酸ガスの脱離反応を十分に進行させることができる。これにより、ガラス溶融炉に供給される造粒体における炭酸塩の残存量を低減することができるため、ガラス溶融炉で生じる炭酸ガスの脱離を抑制し、熱効率を向上させることができる。
本発明のガラス物品の製造方法は、本発明の造粒体の製造方法により造粒体を得て、その造粒体を予熱した後に、溶解してガラス溶融物を得て、そのガラス溶融物を成形してガラス物品を得る、ガラス物品の製造方法である。ガラス物品としては、ガラス板、ガラス基板、ガラス容器、ガラスフィルム、ガラス管、ガラスファイバ、ガラスフレーク、ガラス粒、等が例示される。
図1は、本発明のガラス物品の製造方法の一例を示す流れ図である。符号S1は、ガラス原料の造粒工程であり、本発明の造粒体の製造方法によって造粒体を得る工程である。
次に得られた造粒体を予熱工程S2で予熱して脱炭酸反応を終了させ、溶解工程S3でガラス溶融物を得る。その後、成形工程S4において所望の形状に成形し、徐冷等をしてガラス物品Gを得る。予熱工程S2は、造粒体がガラス溶融炉内のガラス溶融物の上層で予熱される場合には、ガラス溶融炉内で脱炭酸反応が発生してもよい。
予熱工程は、本発明の造粒体を互いに接触させつつ流動させて加熱する方法(予熱方法(a))によることが好ましい。造粒体を互いに接触させることで、造粒体からの熱の放出を低減し、熱効率を向上することができる。造粒体を流動させて予熱することにより、予熱工程と溶解工程への移送を連続して行いやすく、熱の損失を少なくできる。本発明の造粒体は、互いに接触させて高温で予熱しても接着しにくい。
例えば、予熱器に造粒体を充填して流動させつつ、予熱器を高温の排ガス等を利用して加熱する方法で行ってもよい。
例えば、予熱器に造粒体を充填し、充填された造粒体の隙間に高温の排ガスを通す方法で行ってもよい。
コールドトップ方式の場合は、ガラス溶融物の上部の低温のガラス原料層と下部の高温ガラス溶融物の間に半溶融層が生じ、半溶融層にガスが溜まった場合には半溶融層が破裂する等の問題が生じる。しかし、本発明の造粒体は、800℃以上の高温になっても接着しにくいため、造粒体からの脱炭酸反応によって発生した炭酸ガスが造粒体の隙間から揮散しやすい。本発明の造粒体を用いると、半溶融層にガスが溜まる現象が抑制できる。
その他の予熱工程として、ガラス溶融炉の中で、造粒体をガラス溶融炉内の雰囲気温度およびガラス溶融物の下方からの熱によってガラス溶融物の上層で予熱する方法もある。
以上の各予熱工程の思想は、単独で利用されてもよいが、組み合わせて利用されてもよい。
予熱温度の上限は、造粒体同士の接着を防止する点で、造粒体と接触させる排ガスの温度を900℃以下とすることが好ましく、そのため、必要に応じて排ガスの温度調整を行う。予熱工程は、本発明の造粒体を750℃以上に保持して行うことが好ましく、750~900℃に保持して行うことがより好ましい。
ガラス溶融炉内で造粒体の予熱を行う場合には、ガラス溶融炉内の雰囲気及びガラス溶融物からの熱エネルギーによって、造粒体の温度が900℃以上になってもよい。
造粒体の予熱による脱炭酸率は、予熱前の造粒体の質量a、予熱後の造粒体の質量bおよび造粒体から得られるガラスの質量cから式(1)によって求めることができる。
脱炭酸反応率=(1-b/a)/(1-c/a) ・・・(1)
溶融工程は、造粒体を加熱して溶融する工程である。
溶融工程における造粒体の溶融方法は、ガラス原料を溶融する公知の方法が適用でき、特に限定されない。造粒体の溶融は、シーメンス型やるつぼ型のガラス溶融炉を用いる普通溶融法が好ましい。前述したコールドトップ方式による溶融であってもよい。
大型の装置を用いて大量のガラスを製造する場合などには、溶融工程において、造粒体とガラス板等を破砕して得られるカレットを混合して溶融してもよい。カレットは、本発明の造粒体から得られるガラス溶融物と等しいガラス組成を有するものであることが好ましい。具体的には、本発明の造粒体を使用して得られるガラス物品のカレットやガラス物品を製造する工程で生じるカレットを使用することが好ましい。
ガラス溶融炉で得たガラス溶融物を、目的の形状に成形して、ガラス物品を得る。その後、徐冷し、切断や研磨、または表面処理など、公知の後加工を行ってもよい。ガラス物品が板状の物品である場合の成形工程は、フロート法、ダウンドロー法、フュージョン法等の公知の方法で行うことができる。フロート法は、溶融スズ上でガラス溶融物を板状に成形する方法である。
本発明におけるガラス物品とは、造粒体を溶融工程で溶融した後に、成形し、徐冷することにより所望の形状になったものをいう。ガラス物品の形状としては、平板状、曲面状、筒状、容器状等が挙げられる。なお、ガラス物品は、溶融工程の後の工程において、または、ガラス物品とした後において、表面処理を行ったものでもよい。
また、ガラス溶融炉からの高温の排ガスを有効に利用することができる。
さらに、造粒体を予熱することによって、造粒体がガラス溶融炉に供給される前に、炭酸ガスの脱離反応を生じさせることができる。
例1~4は、比較例であり、例5~11は、本発明の実施例である。
表1に示すガラス原料を用い、表2に示す配合でブリケットを製造した。各例のブリケットから得られるケイ酸塩ガラスのガラス組成を表3に示す。表4は、各例の配合におけるケイ砂とドロマイトの組合せを示したものである。
予め、メタケイ酸ナトリウムを60℃のお湯(配合する水の一部)で希釈して、メタケイ酸ナトリウム溶液を調製した。メタケイ酸ナトリウムとお湯の質量比は、2対3とした。
逆円錐形の混合容器の内部に自転・公転するスクリューを備えたミキサに、メタケイ酸ナトリウム溶液以外のガラス原料および水を投入し、2分間混合した後、混合を継続しながら、メタケイ酸ナトリウム溶液をスプレーにて約8分間かけて添加し、さらに1分間混合した。
得られた室温の混合物を、ロール型圧縮造粒機を用いて圧縮成形し、120℃で12時間加熱乾燥してブリケットを得た。
得られたブリケットは、縦29mm、横18mm、厚さ13mmの略アーモンド形であり、体積は、3.1cm3、密度は1.8g/cm3であった。
[予熱によるブリケット同士の接着の有無]
室温のブリケットの50gを、直径50mm、高さ60mmの石英製ビーカーに入れ、電気炉を用いて、5℃/分の昇温速度で所定の予熱温度(750℃、800℃、850℃)になるまで加熱し、その予熱温度で3時間保持した後に取り出した。石英製ビーカー内のブリケットをピンセットでつまんで持ち上げ、ブリケット同士の接着の有無を目視で観察した。
前記「予熱によるブリケット同士の接着の有無」の評価方法において、加熱前の石英製ビーカー内のブリケットの質量(a)と、加熱後の石英製ビーカー内のブリケットの質量(b)をそれぞれ測定し、造粒体から得られるガラスの質量(c)から前述した式(1)によって脱炭酸反応率(単位:%)を求めた。
この脱炭酸反応率の値が大きいほど、加熱による炭酸ガスの脱離が多く、造粒体中に残存する炭酸塩が少ないことを意味する。
表5の結果に示されるように、予熱温度が750℃のときは、例1~11のいずれにおいてもブリケット同士の接着は生じなかった。
また、表6の結果に示されるように、予熱温度が800℃のとき、例1~4ではブリケット同士の接着が見られたが、ドロマイトのD90が100μm以下である例5~11では、ブリケット同士の接着はなかった。
さらに、表7の結果に示されるように、予熱温度が850℃になると、ドロマイトのD90が100μm以下であり、かつケイ砂のD50が40μm以下である、例7、8、10、11でブリケット同士の接着が防止された。
また、表9の結果に示されるように、予熱温度が800℃のときに、ブリケット同士の接着がなかった例5~11において、65%以上の良好な脱炭酸反応率が得られた。
さらに、表10の結果に示されるように、予熱温度が850℃のときに、ブリケット同士の接着がなかった例7、8、10、11において、80%以上の優れた脱炭酸反応率が得られた。

Claims (10)
- ケイ酸塩ガラスの製造に用いられる造粒体の製造方法であって、
アルカリ金属源、アルカリ土類金属源、および粉末状のケイ素源を必須とするガラス原料組成物と、水とを混合した後に圧縮成形する工程を有し、
前記ガラス原料組成物が、造粒体から得られるケイ酸塩ガラス100質量%に対して酸化物換算で、ケイ素源を50質量%以上含有し、かつアルカリ金属源およびアルカリ土類金属源を合計で10質量%以上含有し、
前記アルカリ金属源がアルカリ金属炭酸塩を含有し、
前記アルカリ土類金属源の粒径加積曲線における体積累計90%の粒径を表わすD90が100μm以下であることを特徴とする造粒体の製造方法。 - 前記ケイ素源の粒径加積曲線における体積累計50%の粒径を表わすD50が40μm以下である請求項1に記載の造粒体の製造方法。
- 前記ガラス原料組成物は、酸化物基準の質量百分率表示で、SiO2:50~75%、Al2O3:0~20%、MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO:2~30%、Na2O:0~20%、K2O:0~20%、Li2O:0~5%、Na2O+K2O+Li2O:5~30%の組成を有するガラスの原料である請求項1または2に記載の造粒体の製造方法。
- 前記圧縮成形された造粒体は、体積が1~50cm3である請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の造粒体の製造方法。
- 請求項1~4のいずれか一項に記載の製造方法により造粒体を得て、該造粒体を予熱し、予熱した造粒体を溶解してガラス溶融物を得て、該ガラス溶融物を成形してガラス物品を得ることを特徴とするガラス物品の製造方法。
- 前記予熱は、前記造粒体を750℃以上に保持する請求項5に記載のガラス物品の製造方法。
- 前記予熱は、前記造粒体の脱炭酸反応率を60%以上とする請求項5または6に記載のガラス物品の製造方法。
- 前記予熱は、前記造粒体を互いに接触させつつ流動させて加熱する方法による請求項5~7のいずれか一項に記載のガラス物品の製造方法。
- 前記予熱は、前記造粒体を静置して加熱する方法による請求項5~7のいずれか一項に記載のガラス物品の製造方法。
- 前記予熱は、前記造粒体をガラス溶融物の上部の表面に配置し、前記ガラス溶融物を加熱し、予熱した造粒体をガラス溶融物の上部で溶解してガラス溶融物を得る請求項5~7のいずれか一項に記載のガラス物品の製造方法。
