 エンジンのピストン構造において、ピストン(1)と、小端部(10a)がピストン(1)と連結されかつ大端部(10b)がクランクシャフトと連結されるコンロッド(10)と、ピストン(1)とコンロッド(10)の小端部(10a)とを連結する断面中空のピストンピン(2)と、ピストンピン(2)の内部に設けられ、燃焼行程においてピストン(1)、ピストンピン(2)及びコンロッド(10)の小端部(10a)が一体でコンロッド(10)の大端部(10b)に対して共振するのを抑制する動吸振器(20)とを備える。

Description

エンジンのピストン構造
 本発明は、ピストンとコンロッドの小端部とをピストンピンにより連結するようにしたエンジンのピストン構造に関する技術分野に属する。
 一般に、自動車等の車両に搭載されたエンジンでは、ピストンとコンロッドの小端部とがピストンピンにより連結されている。具体的には、コンロッドの小端部に形成されたピン挿通孔にピストンピンが挿通されて、コンロッドの小端部はピストンピンの中心軸方向の中央部に位置する。ピストンの裏面(頂面と反対側の面)におけるピストンピン中心軸方向の両端部には、2つのボス部がコンロッドの小端部を挟むように形成され、これら2つのボス部には、ピストンピンの中心軸方向の両端部が挿入されて該両端部を支持するピン支持孔がそれぞれ形成されている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。
 上記エンジンでは、該エンジンの基本構造で決まる共振により燃焼騒音が生じることが知られている(例えば、非特許文献1参照)。非特許文献1では、エンジン音が1.7kHz、3.3kHz、6kHzの3つのピークを持ち、そのうちの1つのピーク(3.3kHz)が、コンロッドの伸縮共振によるものであり、その共振の振幅低減の余地が殆どないとされている。

 本発明者らは、ピストン及びコンロッドのバネマスモデルについて鋭意研究を重ね、その結果、以下のようなことが判明した。
 ピストン及びコンロッドのバネマスモデルにおいて、ピストン、ピストンピン及びコンロッドの小端部が全体として、質点(質量をM(単位kg)とする)に相当し、コンロッドにおける小端部と大端部とを連結する連結部が、上記質点を該大端部に対して支持するバネ(バネ定数をK(単位N/m)とする)に相当する。これにより、ピストン、ピストンピン及びコンロッドの小端部が一体であるとすると、これらが一体でコンロッドの大端部に対して(1/2π)・(K/M)1/2Hzの共振周波数(例えば、3kHz~4kHz)で共振することになる。この共振は、上記非特許文献1で言うところのコンロッドの伸縮共振に相当する。
 ところで、ピストンピンとコンロッドのピン挿通孔との間には、潤滑油膜が形成される。この潤滑油膜は、ピストンピンとコンロッドの小端部とを連結するバネに相当する。また、ピストンピンをボス部及びコンロッドの小端部の双方に対して回動可能とするフルフロート式の組付方式が採用された場合には、ピストンピンとコンロッドのピン挿通孔との間に加えて、ピストンピンとピストンのボス部のピン支持孔との間にも、潤滑油膜が形成される。この潤滑油膜は、ピストンピンとピストンとを連結するバネに相当する。
 ピストンピンとコンロッドのピン挿通孔との間の潤滑油膜(フルフロート式では、該潤滑油膜、及び、ピストンピンとピストンのボス部のピン支持孔との間の潤滑油膜)が存在すれば、ピストンは、コンロッドの小端部に対してバネを介して支持されることとなり、ピストン、ピストンピン及びコンロッドの小端部が一体でコンロッドの大端部に対して共振するようなことはない。燃焼行程(膨張行程)以外では、ピストンが大きな力で押圧されないため、上記潤滑油膜が存在し、よって、上記共振は生じない。
 一方、燃焼行程では、ピストンが大きな力で押圧されるため、上記潤滑油膜が無くなり、この結果、ピストン、ピストンピン及びコンロッドの小端部が一体となってコンロッドの大端部に対して共振することになる。
 以上の観点から、燃焼行程でピストン、ピストンピン及びコンロッドの小端部が一体となるので、その共振を抑制する(共振周波数における振動を低減する)ために、動吸振器を利用することが考えられる。しかし、動吸振器を単純に設けるだけでは、燃焼行程で上記共振による騒音を低減できても、ピストン、ピストンピン及びコンロッドの小端部が一体とならない他の行程で、動吸振器の振動により騒音が増大してしまう。
 本発明の目的とするところは、燃焼行程においてピストン、ピストンピン及びコンロッドの小端部が一体でコンロッドの大端部に対して共振するのを抑制するとともに、他の行程において騒音が増大するのを抑制しようとすることにある。
 上記の目的を達成するために、本発明では、エンジンのピストン構造として、シリンダ内で往復動するピストンと、小端部が上記ピストンと連結されかつ大端部がクランクシャフトと連結されるコンロッドと、上記ピストンと上記コンロッドの小端部とを連結する断面中空のピストンピンと、上記ピストンピンの内部に設けられ、燃焼行程において上記ピストン、上記ピストンピン及び上記コンロッドの小端部が一体で上記コンロッドの大端部に対して共振するのを抑制する動吸振器とを備えている、という構成とした。
 上記の構成により、燃焼行程で、ピストンピンとコンロッドとの間の潤滑油膜(フルフロート式では、該潤滑油膜、及び、ピストンピンとピストンとの間の潤滑油膜)が無くなって、ピストン、ピストンピン及びコンロッドの小端部が一体となった場合、動吸振器により、それらが一体で共振するのを抑制することができる。また、動吸振器がピストンピンに設けられているので、ピストンピンとコンロッドとの間に潤滑油膜が存在する場合、つまり吸気行程、圧縮行程及び排気行程では、この潤滑油膜(バネ)により、動吸振器の振動がコンロッドに伝わることはなく、その振動により騒音が増大するようなことはない。また、ピストンピンの内部に動吸振器を設けることで、スペースを有効に利用することができ、ピストンが大きくならずに済む。
 上記エンジンのピストン構造において、上記ピストンピンの内部に、2つの上記動吸振器が設けられており、上記各動吸振器は、上記ピストンピンに固定される固定部と、上記ピストンピンの内部において該ピストンピンの中心軸方向に延びる可動部と、該可動部を上記固定部に対してピストンピンの径方向に振動可能に支持する支持部とを有し、上記2つの動吸振器は、上記ピストンピンの中心軸方向の中央を通りかつ該ピストンピンの中心軸に対して垂直な面を挟んで両側にそれぞれ位置している、ことが好ましい。
 このことにより、動吸振器を、簡単に構成することができるとともに、ピストンピンの内部に容易に設けることができる。また、2つの動吸振器が、ピストンピンの中心軸方向の中央を通りかつ該ピストンピンの中心軸に対して垂直な面を挟んで両側にそれぞれ位置していることで、該面に対する両側(つまりコンロッドの小端部に対するピストンピン中心軸方向の両側)の重量バランスを容易にとることができる。
 上記ピストンピンの内部に上記2つの動吸振器を設ける場合、上記2つの動吸振器における可動部の質量が略同じであり、上記2つの動吸振器のバネ定数が互いに異なる、ことが好ましい。
 このことで、ピストンピンの中心軸方向の中央を通りかつ該ピストンピンの中心軸に対して垂直な面に対する両側(コンロッドの小端部に対するピストンピン中心軸方向の両側)の重量バランスをとりながら、共振周波数を含む比較的広い範囲の周波数領域で振動を低減することができる。ここで、動吸振器がピストンピンの内部に設けられるので、動吸振器の可動部の質量はあまり大きくすることはできない。そのため、動吸振器の製造誤差の影響を受けて、共振の抑制効果が不十分になる可能性があるが、2つの動吸振器のバネ定数を互いに異ならせておけば、共振周波数を含む比較的広い範囲の周波数領域で振動を低減することができるので、動吸振器の製造誤差が生じても、共振の抑制効果が十分に得られるようになる。
 以上説明したように、本発明のエンジンのピストン構造によると、ピストンピンの内部に動吸振器を設けたことにより、燃焼行程においてピストン、ピストンピン及びコンロッドの小端部が一体でコンロッドの大端部に対して共振するのを抑制することができ、その共振による騒音を低減することができるとともに、動吸振器の振動により他の行程で騒音が増大するのを抑制することができる。

 以下、本発明の実施形態を図面に基づいて詳細に説明する。
 図1~図3は、本発明の実施形態に係るピストン構造が採用されたエンジンのピストン1及びコンロッド10を示す。このピストン1は、気筒サイクル(吸気行程、圧縮行程、燃焼行程(膨張行程)及び排気行程)を繰り返すことで、シリンダ(気筒)内でシリンダ軸心方向(図1及び図3の上下方向)に往復動するようになっている。
 上記ピストン1は、ピストンピン2を介して、コンロッド10の一端部である小端部10aと連結されている。このコンロッド10の他端部である大端部10bは、不図示のクランクシャフトと連結されている。コンロッド10の小端部10aと大端部10bとは、連結部10cによって連結されている。上記ピストン1の往復動は、コンロッド10を介して上記クランクシャフトに伝達されて該クランクシャフトが回転する。ピストンピン2の中心軸方向(図3の左右方向)は、上記クランクシャフトの軸方向と一致している。
 コンロッド10の小端部10aには、ピストンピン2が挿通されるピン挿通孔10dが形成され、コンロッド10の大端部10bには、上記クランクシャフトが挿通されるシャフト挿通孔10eが形成されている。尚、図1では省略しているが、コンロッド10の大端部10bは、連結部10cの長手方向において、シャフト挿通孔10eの中央で2分割構成とされている。
 コンロッド10の小端部10aにおけるピン挿通孔10dにピストンピン2が挿通されて、コンロッド10の小端部10aは、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向の中央部に位置している。また、コンロッド10の小端部10aは、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向において、ピストン1の中央に位置している。
 ピストンピン2は、コンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dに対して回動可能に挿通されている。尚、コンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dの内周面には、ブッシュ11が固定されており、厳密には、このブッシュ11に対してピストンピン2が回動可能に挿通されていることになる。
 ピストンピン2とコンロッド10のピン挿通孔10d(詳しくはブッシュ11)との間には、上記エンジンにおいて循環されている潤滑油が供給されることによって潤滑油膜が形成され、この潤滑油膜と上記ブッシュ11とによって、ピストンピン2が、コンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dに対してスムーズに回動することになる。
 ピストン1の頂面には、キャビティ1aが形成され、ピストン1におけるピストンピン2よりも上側の外周面には、円環状のピストンリング1bが嵌められている。
 ピストン1の裏面(頂面とは反対側の面)におけるピストンピン2中心軸方向の両端部には、2つのボス部1cがコンロッド10の小端部10aを挟むように上記クランクシャフト側に膨出形成されている。これら2つのボス部1cには、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向に延びるピン支持孔1dがそれぞれ形成されている。2つのボス部1cのピン支持孔1dに、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向の両端部がそれぞれ挿入されて支持されている。
 本実施形態では、ピストンピン2の組付方式としてフルフロート式が採用されている。すなわち、ピストンピン2は、コンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dに対して回動可能であるとともに、ピストン1のボス部1cのピン支持孔1dに対しても回動可能とされている。
 ピストンピン2とコンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dとの間と同様に、ピストンピン2とピストン1のボス部1cのピン支持孔1dとの間にも潤滑油膜が形成され、この潤滑油膜によって、ピストンピン2が、ピストン1のボス部1cのピン支持孔1dに対してスムーズに回動することになる。
 2つのボス部1cのピン支持孔1dにおけるピストン1外周面側の端部には、スナップリング1eがそれぞれ挿入固定されており、これら2つのスナップリング1eが、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向の両端面にそれぞれ接するように位置して、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向の移動を規制している。
 上記ピストンピン2は断面中空であり、ピストンピン2の中心部に、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向に延びる貫通孔2aが形成されている。この貫通孔2aの内周面におけるピストンピン2中心軸方向の中央部には、後述の動吸振器20の固定部20aが圧入される圧入部2bが設けられている。圧入部2bにおける貫通孔2aの内径は、他の部分における貫通孔2aの内径よりも小さい。
 上記ピストンピン2の内部(貫通孔2a内)には、燃焼行程においてピストン1、ピストンピン2及びコンロッド10の小端部10aが一体でコンロッド10の大端部10aに対して共振するのを抑制する2つの動吸振器20が配設されている。これら2つの動吸振器20は、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向の中央を通りかつピストンピン2の中心軸に対して垂直な面を挟んで両側にそれぞれ位置している。
 ここで、ピストン1及びコンロッド10のバネマスモデルは、図4のようになる。すなわち、ピストン1、ピストンピン2及びコンロッド10の小端部10aが全体として、質点(質量をM(単位kg)とする)に相当し、コンロッド10の連結部10cが、上記質点をコンロッド10の大端部10bに対して支持するバネ(バネ定数をK(単位N/m)とする)に相当する。
 ピストンピン2とコンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dとの間の潤滑油膜は、ピストンピン2とコンロッド10の小端部10aとを連結するバネに相当し、ピストンピン2とピストン1のボス部1cのピン支持孔1dとの間の潤滑油膜は、ピストンピン2とピストン1(ボス部1c)とを連結するバネに相当する。
 燃焼行程では、ピストン1が大きな力で押圧されるため、ピストンピン2とコンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dとの間の潤滑油膜(ピストンピン2とコンロッド10の小端部10aとを連結するバネ)、及び、ピストンピン2とピストン1のボス部1cのピン支持孔1dとの間の潤滑油膜(ピストンピン2とピストン1とを連結するバネ)は共に無くなり、この結果、ピストン1、ピストンピン2及びコンロッド10の小端部10aが一体となる。これにより、ピストン1、ピストンピン2及びコンロッド10の小端部10aが一体でコンロッド10の大端部10bに対して、(1/2π)・(K/M)1/2Hzの共振周波数で共振することになる。
 この共振を抑制する(共振周波数における振動を低減する)ために、上記2つの動吸振器20がピストンピン2の内部(貫通孔2a内)に設けられる。図2及び図3に示すように、各動吸振器20は、ピストンピン2の貫通孔2aの内周面に設けられた圧入部2bに圧入されて固定される固定部20aと、ピストンピン2の内部において該ピストンピン2の中心軸方向に延びる可動部20bと、該可動部20bを上記固定部20aに対してピストンピン2の径方向に振動可能に支持する支持部20cとを有している。
 本実施形態では、各動吸振器20の固定部20a、可動部20b及び支持部20cは、金属で一体形成されているとともに、2つの動吸振器20の固定部20a同士も一体形成されて、固定部20aは実質的に1つとなっている。2つの動吸振器20の互いに一体形成された固定部20aは、圧入部2bに圧入されて固定されている。その互いに一体形成された固定部20aにおけるピストンピン2中心軸方向の一側の面に、一方の動吸振器20の可動部20bが支持部20cを介して設けられ、固定部20aにおけるピストンピン2中心軸方向の他側の面に、他方の動吸振器20の可動部20bが支持部20cを介して設けられている。
 各動吸振器20の可動部20bは、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向に延びる円柱状をなしている。可動部20bの外径は、可動部20bが振動してもピストンピン2の内周面に接触しないような値に設定されている。各動吸振器20の支持部20cは、当該動吸振器20の可動部20bと固定部20aとを連結するように円柱状をなしている。支持部20cの外径は可動部20bの外径よりも小さくされていて、可動部20bを固定部20aに対してピストンピン2の径方向に振動可能に支持する。2つの動吸振器20の固定部20a、可動部20b及び支持部20cは、ピストンピン2と同心上に位置している。また、2つの動吸振器20の可動部20bの質量は略同じであり、2つの動吸振器20における可動部20bの重心位置が、ピストンピン2の中心軸上に位置しているとともに、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向の中央を通りかつピストンピン2の中心軸に対して垂直な面に対して互いに対称な位置に位置している。
 各動吸振器20の支持部20cは、可動部20b(可動部20bの質量をm(単位kg)とする)を支持するバネに相当し、そのバネ定数をk(単位N/m)とすると、上記共振を抑制するためには、基本的には、k/mの値をK/Mと略同じになるようにすればよい。このようなk/mの値が得られるように、可動部20bの長さ及び径並びに支持部20cの長さ及び径を設定する。厳密には、支持部20cの質量も考慮する必要があるが、支持部20cの質量は可動部20bの質量に比べてかなり小さいので、支持部20cの質量を無視することができる。尚、共振周波数以外の周波数で振動が大きくなってもよい場合には、k/mの値がK/Mと略同じである必要はない。
 2つの動吸振器20の可動部20bの質量を略同じにして、2つの動吸振器20(支持部20c)のバネ定数を、互いに異ならせることが好ましい。これは、共振周波数における振動だけでなく、共振周波数を含む比較的広い範囲の周波数領域で振動を低減することができるからである。2つの動吸振器20のバネ定数を互いに異ならせるには、2つの動吸振器20における支持部20cの長さ又は径を互いに異ならせればよい。或いは、2つの動吸振器20における支持部20cの長さ及び径の両方を互いに異ならせてもよい。或いは、2つの動吸振器20における支持部20cの材料を互いに異ならせてもよい。尚、2つの動吸振器20のバネ定数を略同じにしてもよい。
 2つの動吸振器20のバネ定数を互いに異ならせる場合、例えば、一方の動吸振器20のバネ定数を、k/mの値がK/Mと略同じになるように設定し、他方の動吸振器20のバネ定数を、一方の動吸振器20のバネ定数よりも大きくするか又は小さくする。
 上記のように、燃焼行程では、ピストンピン2とコンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dとの間の潤滑油膜(ピストンピン2とコンロッド10の小端部10aとを連結するバネ)、及び、ピストンピン2とピストン1のボス部1cのピン支持孔1dとの間の潤滑油膜(ピストンピン2とピストン1とを連結するバネ)は共に無くなり、この結果、ピストン1、ピストンピン2及びコンロッド10の小端部10dが一体となって大端部10bに対して共振しようとする。しかし、本実施形態では、ピストンピン2に設けられた動吸振器20により、その共振が抑制され、共振による騒音を低減することができる。
 一方、吸気行程、圧縮行程及び排気行程では、ピストンピン2とコンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dとの間、及び、ピストンピン2とピストン1のボス部1cのピン支持孔1dとの間に、それぞれ潤滑油膜が存在する。この結果、上記燃焼行程で生じるような共振は生じない。仮に動吸振器20がコンロッド10の小端部10aに設けられていたとすると、燃焼行程では上記共振を抑制することができるものの、共振が生じない吸気行程、圧縮行程及び排気行程においても、動吸振器20が振動する。このため、吸気行程、圧縮行程及び排気行程では、動吸振器20の振動により、却って騒音が大きくなってしまう。しかし、本実施形態では、動吸振器20がピストンピン2に設けられているので、吸気行程、圧縮行程及び排気行程では、ピストンピン2とコンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dとの間の潤滑油膜(ピストンピン2とコンロッド10の小端部10aとを連結するバネ)により、動吸振器20の振動がコンロッド10に伝わることはなく、その振動により騒音が増大するようなことはない。また、ピストンピン2の内部に動吸振器20を設けることで、スペースを有効に利用することができ、ピストン1が大きくならずに済む。
 本発明は、上記実施形態に限られるものではなく、請求の範囲の主旨を逸脱しない範囲で代用が可能である。
 例えば、上記実施形態では、2つの動吸振器20の固定部20aを互いに一体形成したが、2つの動吸振器20の固定部20aを別々に形成して、2つの動吸振器20を独立のものとしてもよい。この場合、2つの動吸振器20を、上記実施形態と同様に、固定部20aが可動部20bよりもピストンピン2の中心軸方向の中央側に位置するように、ピストンピン2の内部に配設してもよく、或いは、図5に示すように、2つの動吸振器20を、可動部20bが固定部20aよりもピストンピン2の中心軸方向の中央側に位置するように、ピストンピン2の内部に配設してもよい。いずれの場合も、2つの動吸振器20は、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向の中央を通りかつピストンピン2の中心軸に対して垂直な面を挟んで両側にそれぞれ位置する。また、2つの動吸振器20の可動部20bの質量は略同じであり、2つの動吸振器20における可動部20bの重心位置が、ピストンピン2の中心軸上に位置しているとともに、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向の中央を通りかつピストンピン2の中心軸に対して垂直な面に対して互いに対称な位置に位置する。
 図5では、2つの圧入部2bが、ピストンピン2の貫通孔2aの内周面におけるピストンピン2中心軸方向の両端部にそれぞれ設けられており(圧入部2bにおける貫通孔2aの内径は、他の部分における貫通孔2aの内径と同じである)、2つの動吸振器20の固定部20aは、それら2つの圧入部2bにそれぞれ圧入されて固定されている。このように固定部20aが、ピストンピン2の中心軸方向において、ピストン1のボス部1c(ピン支持孔10d)に支持された部分と重なる位置に固定されるので、燃焼行程においてピストン1、ピストンピン2及びコンロッド10の小端部10aが一体でコンロッド10の大端部10bに対して共振するのをより一層効果的に抑制することができる。
 また、上記実施形態では、2つの動吸振器20の固定部20aを、ピストンピン2の貫通孔2aの内周面に設けた圧入部2bに圧入して固定するようにしたが、動吸振器20による上記共振の抑制機能をより確実に得られるように、以下のような位置決め(特にピストンピン2中心軸方向の位置決め)によって、固定部20aをピストンピン2に、より確実に位置決めしつつ固定するようにしてもよい。
 すなわち、例えば図6に示すように、上記実施形態と同様に形成された2つの動吸振器20の互いに一体形成された固定部20a(実質的に1つである固定部20aのピストンピン2中心軸方向の中央部)に、溝部20dを形成し、この溝部20dにC形クリップ25を嵌める。一方、ピストンピン2の貫通孔2aの内周面には、溝部20dに対応する箇所に、溝部2cを形成しておく。そして、上記C形クリップ25を嵌めた動吸振器20を貫通孔2aの一方の開口から挿入すると、C形クリップ25は、内周面の溝部2cが形成されていない部分に接触している状態では縮径しているが、溝部2cに対向する位置で拡径して溝部2cに嵌まり、これにより、固定部20aがピストンピン2に位置決めされた状態で固定される。
 或いは、例えば図7に示すように、ピストンピン2の貫通孔2aの内周面に、上記互いに一体形成された固定部20aにおけるピストンピン2中心軸方向の一側(図7の左側)の面が当接するストッパ2dと、他側(図7の右側)の面に当接するC形クリップ25が嵌まる溝部2cとを形成しておく。C形クリップ25を溝部2cに嵌めない状態で、動吸振器20を、貫通孔2aの図7の右側の開口から挿入して、上記固定部20aにおける上記一側の面を上記ストッパ2dに当接させる。続いて、治具を用いてC形クリップ25を貫通孔2aの上記開口から挿入して該C形クリップ25を溝部2cに嵌める。こうして、ストッパ2dとC形クリップ25とによって、固定部20aがピストンピン2に位置決めされた状態で固定される。
 固定部20aをピストンピン2に固定する方法としては、上記圧入やC形クリップ25の他に、ロウ付けや電気抵抗溶接等を採用することも可能である。
 また、上記実施形態では、ピストンピン2の組付方式としてフルフロート式を採用したが、これには限られず、ピストンピン2が、コンロッド10のピン挿通孔10dに対して回動可能でありかつピストン1のボス部1cのピン支持孔1dに固定されたセミフロート式を採用してもよい。
 上述の実施形態は単なる例示に過ぎず、本発明の範囲を限定的に解釈してはならない。本発明の範囲は請求の範囲によって定義され、請求の範囲の均等範囲に属する変形や変更は、全て本発明の範囲内のものである。
 ここで、上記実施形態と同様の構成の2つの動吸振器を、エンジンのピストンとコンロッドとを連結する断面中空のピストンピン2の内部に設けて、該動吸振器による共振の抑制効果を調べる試験を行った。上記エンジンにおいて動吸振器を設けない場合の燃焼行程におけるピストンの自己イナータンス(ピストンに1Nの荷重を付加したときのピストンの振動の加速度)の周波数特性は、図8のようになっており、共振周波数が約3500Hzとなっている。
 上記2つの動吸振器の可動部の質量mを同じにしながら、その各可動部の質量mを、0.005kg、0.01kg、0.025kg、0.05kg、0.1kgと変化させて、それぞれの質量で、ピストンの自己イナータンスの周波数特性を調べた。このとき、2つの動吸振器のバネ定数kは同じであるが、質量mが大きくなるに連れて、kの値を大きくしている。ここでは、k/mの値は、質量mが大きくなるに連れて大きくなっている。
 上記試験の結果を、図9~図13に示す。図9~図13は、2つの動吸振器の可動部の質量を、それぞれ0.005kg、0.01kg、0.025kg、0.05kg、0.1kgとした場合の燃焼行程におけるピストンの自己イナータンスの周波数特性を示す。図9~図13の破線のグラフは、図8の動吸振器を設けない場合のものである。また、図14に、可動部の質量(図8の動吸振器を設けない場合は、可動部の質量を0としている)と、ピストンの自己イナータンスの最大値との関係を示す。
 図8~図14より、ピストンの自己イナータンスの最大値は、所定値(上記試験の場合、例えば0.025kg)以上とすれば、低い値で安定し、共振の抑制効果が十分に得られることが分かる。すなわち、可動部の質量は、該質量に対してバネ定数を適切に設定できれば、いくらでもよいが、可動部の質量が上記所定値よりも小さいと、動吸振器の製造誤差の影響を受けて、共振の抑制効果が不十分になる可能性がある。したがって、可動部の質量は、動吸振器の製造誤差の影響を受け難いように、上記所定値以上とすればよい。但し、可動部の質量が大きすぎると、動吸振器をピストンピン2の内部に設けることが困難になるので、上記所定値に近い値であることが好ましい。
 次に、2つの動吸振器のバネ定数を互いに異ならせた。一方の動吸振器のバネ定数は、上記試験で用いた、可動部の質量が0.025kgである動吸振器のバネ定数と同じにし、他方の動吸振器のバネ定数を、その一方の動吸振器のバネ定数のC倍とした。他方の動吸振器の可動部の質量は、一方の動吸振器の可動部の質量と同じ0.025kgである。一方の動吸振器のバネ定数に対する、他方の動吸振器のバネ定数の比率Cを、1.2から2.0まで0.1刻みで変化させた。各比率C毎に、燃焼行程におけるピストンの自己イナータンスの周波数特性を調べた。
 この結果を、図16~図24に示す。図15は、C=1.0とした場合のものであって、図11と同じである。図16~図24は、上記比率Cの値を、それぞれ、1.2、1.3、1.4,1.5、1.6、1.7、1.8、1.9、2.0とした場合のものである。図15~図24の破線のグラフは、図8の動吸振器を設けない場合のものである。また、図25に、上記比率Cの値とピストンの自己イナータンスの最大値との関係を示す。
 図15~図24より、上記比率Cの値を大きくしていくことで、2つの動吸振器のバネ定数が同じである場合に比べて広い範囲の周波数領域(共振周波数を含む)で振動を低減できることが分かる。但し、図15~図25より、上記比率Cの値を大きくしすぎると、共振周波数における振動の低減効果が低くなることが分かる。したがって、上記比率Cの値としては、共振周波数における振動を大きく低減しながら出来る限り広い範囲の周波数領域で振動を低減できるような所定範囲(例えば1.3~1.7)内とすることが好ましい。尚、動吸振器を設けない場合(破線のグラフ)よりも振動が低減する上記周波数領域の外側では、動吸振器を設けない場合よりも振動が大きくなっているが、その大きさ自体がかなり小さいので、騒音として問題にはならない。
 このように2つの動吸振器のバネ定数を互いに異ならせれば、共振周波数を含む比較的広い範囲の周波数領域で振動を低減することができるので、可動部の大きさに制約があって可動部の質量を上記所定値以上にすることができない場合であっても、共振の抑制効果が十分に得られるようになる。
 本発明は、ピストンとコンロッドの小端部とをピストンピンにより連結するようにしたエンジンのピストン構造に有用である。

Claims (3)

  1.  シリンダ内で往復動するピストンと、
     小端部が上記ピストンと連結されかつ大端部がクランクシャフトと連結されるコンロッドと、
     上記ピストンと上記コンロッドの小端部とを連結する断面中空のピストンピンと、
     上記ピストンピンの内部に設けられ、燃焼行程において上記ピストン、上記ピストンピン及び上記コンロッドの小端部が一体で上記コンロッドの大端部に対して共振するのを抑制する動吸振器とを備えていることを特徴とするエンジンのピストン構造。
  2.  請求項1記載のエンジンのピストン構造において、
     上記ピストンピンの内部に、2つの上記動吸振器が設けられており、
     上記各動吸振器は、上記ピストンピンに固定される固定部と、上記ピストンピンの内部において該ピストンピンの中心軸方向に延びる可動部と、該可動部を上記固定部に対してピストンピンの径方向に振動可能に支持する支持部とを有し、
     上記2つの動吸振器は、上記ピストンピンの中心軸方向の中央を通りかつ該ピストンピンの中心軸に対して垂直な面を挟んで両側にそれぞれ位置していることを特徴とするエンジンのピストン構造。
  3.  請求項2記載のエンジンのピストン構造において、
     上記2つの動吸振器における可動部の質量が略同じであり、
     上記2つの動吸振器のバネ定数が互いに異なることを特徴とするエンジンのピストン構造。
