Abstract

 簡素な構成で、積層型固体電池を構成する複数の単電池を直列に接続することができるとともに、隣り合う二つの単電池において正極層と負極層をイオン伝導的に絶縁することが可能な積層型固体電池を提供する。積層型固体電池(10)は、(単電池1)と(単電池2)と、(単電池1)と(単電池2)の間に介在するように配置された内部集電層(4)とを備える。(単電池1)と(単電池2)は、各々が順に積み重ねられた正極層(1)、固体電解質層(3)および負極層(2)から構成される。内部集電層(4)は、(単電池2)の正極層(1)に接触する一方側面と、(単電池2)の負極層(2)に接触する他方側面とを有する。また、内部集電層(4)は、電子伝導材料を含み、さらに、イオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料を含む。

Description

積層型固体電池
 本発明は、一般的には積層型固体電池に関し、特定的には単電池を直列に接続するように構成された積層型固体電池に関する。
 近年、携帯電話、携帯用パーソナルコンピュータ等の携帯用電子機器の電源として電池、特に二次電池が用いられている。二次電池の一例としてリチウムイオン二次電池は、相対的に大きなエネルギー密度を有することが知られている。このような二次電池においてはイオンを移動させるための媒体として有機溶媒等の液体の電解質(電解液)が従来から使用されている。しかし、電解液を用いた二次電池においては、電解液の漏液等の問題がある。そこで、固体電解質を用いてすべての構成要素を固体で構成した積層型固体電池の開発が進められている。
 このような積層型固体電池の構造として、たとえば、特開2004-158222号公報(以下、特許文献1という)には、薄膜固体リチウムイオン二次電池を一つのセルとして、その電池セルを複数段重ねた多層積層電池の構造が開示されている。
 特許文献1で開示された一つの構造では、正極層、固体電解質層、負極層、集電層を積層した発電要素を、複数個積層した積層型固体電池において、集電層(金属膜)のイオン伝導的に絶縁膜となる機能を利用して、個々の発電要素間に新たな絶縁層を用いることなく、一つの基板上に各層を順次積層して構成している。
 特許文献1で開示されたもう一つの構造では、正極層、固体電解質層、負極層、集電層を積層した発電要素を、電子伝導的かつイオン伝導的に絶縁性の絶縁層を介して複数個積層した積層型固体電池において、集電層の外周縁部に設けた引出タブを積層体方向に対して垂直方向でかつ積層体の外側に引出して配設し、それらの引出タブには絶縁層を貫通した接続用ビアホールを設け、ビアホールは金属電極を埋め込み接続可能とし、それらの接続の組合せにより直列型、並列型、直並列型の接続を選択できるようにされている。

 特許文献1で開示された一つの積層型固体電池の構造では、集電層の片面に正極層を、逆の面に負極層を配することによって、集電層を介して単電池を電気的に直列に接続している。しかしながら、この積層型固体電池においては、集電層を介して正極層と負極層がイオン伝導した場合、イオン導通した正極層と負極層のみが放電するため、積層型固体電池の電池特性を著しく低下させることになる。また、集電層のイオン伝導性を実質的に絶縁するためには、集電層をポアのない連続膜とするか、あるいは集電層の厚みを十分に確保する等の工夫が必要となる。前者の場合には、集電層の形成方法として一般的に用いられるスパッタリング法、導電材料のスクリーン印刷法等の工法を適用することが困難になる。後者の場合には、集電層を構成する電子伝導性材料(金属ペースト等)の使用量が多くなるという問題がある。
 一方、特許文献1に開示されたもう一つの積層型固体電池では、絶縁層により各単電池を電子伝導的かつイオン伝導的に絶縁し、単電池の外側に配した引出タブにより各単電池を電気的に直列および/または並列に接続している。各単電池を電子伝導的かつイオン伝導的に絶縁するために、絶縁層を用いているため、集電層が実質的にイオン伝導性を有する場合であっても、集電層を介して正極層と負極層がイオン伝導的に導通することがない。これにより、積層型固体電池の電池特性が低下するのを防止することが可能になる。
 しかしながら、単電池毎に配した引出タブを用いて、単電池の外側で単電池を電気的に接続するため、単電池と概ね同数の引出タブが必要である。また、引出タブを配するための容積を積層型固体電池に備える必要がある。
 そこで、本発明の目的は、簡素な構成で、積層型固体電池を構成する複数の単電池を直列に接続することができるとともに、隣り合う二つの単電池において正極層と負極層をイオン伝導的に絶縁することが可能な積層型固体電池を提供することである。
 本発明に従った積層型固体電池は、第1と第2の単電池と、第1と第2の単電池の間に介在するように配置された内部集電層とを備える。第1の第2の単電池は、各々が順に積み重ねられた正極層、固体電解質層および負極層から構成される。内部集電層は、第1の単電池の正極層に接触する一方側面と、第2の単電池の負極層に接触する他方側面とを有する。また、内部集電層は、イオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料を含む。
 まず、本発明では、内部集電層の両側に異なる極が配置されるので、内部集電層を介在して複数の単電池を直列に接続したバイポーラ型の積層型固体電池を得ることができる。これにより、高出力型の積層型固体電池を得ることができる。
 また、本発明の積層型固体電池では、第1と第2の単電池の間に介在する内部集電層がイオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料を含むので、隣り合う二つの単電池を電気的に直列に接続することができるとともに、隣り合う二つの単電池において正極層と負極層を効率的にイオン伝導的に絶縁することができる。これにより、高い特性を得ることができる。
 さらに、引き出しタブ等の外部集電部材をなくして、積層型固体電池を構成する単電池を電気的に直列に接続し、かつ、効率的に正極層と負極層をイオン伝導的に絶縁することができる。これにより、空間利用率とコスト性に優れた積層型固体電池を得ることができる。
 本発明の積層型固体電池において、内部集電層は、電子伝導材料をさらに含む。
 このように構成することにより、内部集電層の電子伝導性を高めることができる。
 上記の電子伝導材料は、導電性酸化物、金属および炭素材料より選ばれた少なくとも一種を含むことが好ましい。
 本発明の積層型固体電池において、特定伝導材料は、正極層および負極層より選ばれた少なくとも一つの層に含まれる固体電解質材料と類似の構造を有することが好ましい。
 このように構成することにより、正極層または負極層と、固体電解質層と、内部集電層との収縮率を近似させることができる。これにより、一体焼結によって積層型固体電池を作製する際にクラック等の発生を抑制することができる。
 また、本発明の積層型固体電池において、固体電解質材料と特定伝導材料とが、リチウムを含む化合物を含むことが好ましい。
 さらに、本発明の積層型固体電池において、固体電解質材料と特定伝導材料とが、リチウム含有リン酸化合物を含むことが好ましい。
 このように構成することにより、積層型固体電池を緻密に一体焼結によって作製することができる。
 本発明の積層型固体電池において、固体電解質材料と特定伝導材料とが、ナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物を含むことが好ましい。
 この場合、イオン伝導性の固体電解質材料としてナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物の組成を基本にして、リチウムのモル比率を小さくすることによって、イオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料を作製することができる。
 上記の特定伝導材料に含まれるナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物は、化学式Li1+xxM'2-x(PO43(化学式中、xは0≦x≦1、MはAlまたはGa、M'はTi、GeおよびZrからなる群より選ばれた1種以上の元素である)で表わされることが好ましい。この場合、上記化学式においてPの一部をB、Si等で置換してもよい。
 本発明の積層型固体電池において、正極層および負極層より選ばれた少なくとも一つの層に含まれる活物質材料と、正極層および負極層より選ばれた少なくとも一つの層に含まれる固体電解質材料と、固体電解質層に含まれる固体電解質材料と、内部集電層に含まれる特定伝導材料とが、リチウム含有リン酸化合物を含むことが好ましい。
 このように構成することにより、正極層または負極層と、固体電解質層と、内部集電層とがリン酸骨格を共有化することによって、低抵抗の積層型固体電池をより緻密に一体焼結によって作製することができる。
 また、本発明の積層型固体電池は、各々が順に積み重ねられた正極層、固体電解質層および負極層から構成されるn個の単電池の間に上記の内部集電層をn-1個配置して、n個の単電池を積み重ねることにより形成された積層型固体電池であって、1段目およびn段目に位置する単電池の内部集電層に隣接しない面に電子伝導性を有する外部電極を配置することが好ましい。
 積層型固体電池の最上段と最下段に位置する単電池のそれぞれの端面は、イオン伝導的に絶縁される必要がないため、必ずしもイオン伝導的に絶縁性の層を配置する必要はない。したがって、上記のように電子伝導性を有する外部電極を配置することにより、積層型固体電池の電気抵抗を低減することができる。
 さらに、本発明の積層型固体電池は、各々が順に積み重ねられた正極層、固体電解質層および負極層から構成されるn個の単電池の間に上記の内部集電層をn-1個配置して、n個の単電池を積み重ねることにより発電要素をm個形成し、このm個の発電要素の間にm-1個の外部電極を配置して積み重ねることにより形成された積層型固体電池であって、以下の特徴を有する。1つの外部電極に隣接する2つの発電要素を、外部電極の両面に単電池の正極層側または負極層側が隣接するように積み重ねるとともに電気的に接続する。1段目およびm段目に位置する発電要素の外部電極に隣接しない面にも外部電極を配置する。さらに同じ極となる外部電極間を外部集電部材で電気的に接続する。このようにすることにより、本発明の積層型固体電池は、少なくとも2つの発電要素を電気的に並列に接続した構造を含む。
 このように、単電池をn個直列に接続することにより構成された各発電要素を、m個の発電要素の間で外部電極を介して積層し、同じ極となる外部電極間を外部集電部材で電気的に接続することによって、n個の単電池を直列に接続することにより構成された発電要素をm個、並列に接続した積層型固体電池を構成することができる。したがって、単電池をn個直列に接続することにより構成された積層型固体電池に比べて、m倍の容量を発現する積層型固体電池を容易に構成することが可能となる。
 本発明の積層型固体電池において、外部電極を形成する導電材料は、導電性酸化物および金属より選ばれた少なくとも一種を含むことが好ましい。
 以上のように本発明によれば、内部集電層の両側に異なる極が配置されるので、内部集電層を介在して複数の単電池を直列に接続したバイポーラ型の積層型固体電池を得ることができる。また、簡素な構成で、積層型固体電池を構成する複数の単電池を直列に接続することができるとともに、隣り合う二つの単電池において正極層と負極層をイオン伝導的に絶縁することができるので、高い特性の積層型固体電池を得ることができる。

 以下、本発明の実施の形態を図面に基づいて説明する。
 (第1実施形態)
 まず、本発明の第1実施形態として積層型固体電池の基本構造となる積層体について説明する。なお、後述する本発明の各実施形態において、積層体の平面形状は、限定されないが、たとえば、一般的に矩形状であるとして説明する。
 図1に示すように、積層型固体電池10では、(単電池1)と(単電池2)が内部集電層4を介して積み重ねられている。(単電池1)と(単電池2)の各々は、順に積み重ねられた正極層1、固体電解質層3および負極層2から構成される。
 内部集電層4の一方側面(図1では上面)に(単電池2)の正極層1が隣接し、内部集電層4の他方側面(図1では下面)に(単電池1)の負極層2が隣接するように、(単電池1)と(単電池2)と内部集電層4とが積層されている。内部集電層4は、イオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料を少なくとも含む。
 以上のように構成された本発明の積層型固体電池10では、内部集電層4の両側に異なる極が配置されるので、内部集電層4を介在して複数の単電池を直列に接続したバイポーラ型の積層型固体電池10を得ることができる。これにより、高出力型の積層型固体電池10を得ることができる。
 また、本発明の積層型固体電池10では、(単電池1)と(単電池2)の間に介在する内部集電層4がイオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料を含むので、隣り合う二つの単電池を電気的に直列に接続することができるとともに、隣り合う二つの単電池において正極層1と負極層2を効率的にイオン伝導的に絶縁することができる。これにより、高い特性を得ることができる。
 さらに、引き出しタブ等の外部集電部材をなくして、積層型固体電池10を構成する単電池を電気的に直列に接続し、かつ、効率的に正極層1と負極層2をイオン伝導的に絶縁することができる。これにより、空間利用率とコスト性に優れた積層型固体電池10を得ることができる。
 上述のように構成された積層型固体電池10において、内部集電層4は、電子伝導材料をさらに含む。具体的には、内部集電層4は、導電性酸化物、金属および炭素材料からなる群より選ばれた少なくとも一種の電子伝導材料と、イオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料とを含むことが好ましい。なお、上記の電子伝導材料として用いられる金属は、電気抵抗が低いニッケル、銅、銀等が特に好ましい。
 このように構成することにより、内部集電層4の電子伝導性を高めることができる。
 以上のように、内部集電層4に含まれる特定伝導材料としてイオン伝導的に絶縁性の材料を用いることによって、内部集電層4を介して積層された正極層1と負極層2をイオン伝導的に絶縁し、かつ、内部集電層4に電子伝導性材料を含ませることによって、内部集電層4を介して積層された正極層1と負極層2を電気的に接触させることができる。これにより、内部集電層4に隣接する2つの単電池において、イオン導通した正極層1と負極層2の放電による電池特性の劣化を生じることなく、電気的に直列に接続された積層型固体電池10を得ることができる。
 また、特定伝導材料は、正極層1または負極層2の少なくともいずれか一つの層に含まれる固体電解質材料と類似の構造を有することが好ましい。
 このように構成することにより、正極層1または負極層2と、固体電解質層3と、内部集電層4との収縮率を近似させることができる。これにより、一体焼結によって積層型固体電池10を作製する際にクラック等の発生を抑制することができる。
 さらに、上記の固体電解質材料と特定伝導材料とが、リチウムを含む化合物を含むことが好ましい。さらにまた、上記の固体電解質材料と特定伝導材料とが、リチウム含有リン酸化合物を含むことが好ましい。
 このように構成することにより、積層型固体電池10を緻密に一体焼結によって作製することができる。特に、剥離またはクラックが生じることなく、正極層1、負極層2、固体電解質層3および内部集電層4の密着性が向上した、緻密な積層体を得ることができる。
 本発明の積層型固体電池10において、固体電解質材料と特定伝導材料とが、ナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物を含むことが好ましい。
 この場合、イオン伝導性の固体電解質材料としてナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物の組成を基本にして、リチウムのモル比率を小さくすることによって、イオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料を作製することができる。
 上記の特定伝導材料に含まれるナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物は、化学式Lixy(PO43(化学式中、xは1≦x≦2、yは1≦y≦2、MはTi、Ge、Al、GaおよびZrからなる群より選ばれた1種以上の元素である)で表わされることが好ましい。この場合、上記化学式においてPの一部をB、Si等で置換してもよい。
 上記の固体電解質材料と特定伝導材料とに用いられるナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物としては、たとえば、Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO43とLi1.2Al0.2Ti1.8(PO43等の異なる組成を有する2つ以上のナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物を混合した混合物を用いてもよい。
 また、上記の固体電解質材料と特定伝導材料とに用いられるナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物としては、ナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物の結晶相を含む化合物、または、熱処理によりナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物の結晶相を析出するガラスを用いてもよい。
 なお、上記の固体電解質材料に用いられる材料としては、ナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物以外に、イオン伝導性を有し、電子伝導性が無視できるほど小さい材料を用いることが可能である。このような材料として、たとえば、ハロゲン化リチウム、窒化リチウム、リチウム酸素酸塩、および、これらの誘導体を挙げることができる。また、リン酸リチウム(Li3PO4)等のLi‐P‐O系化合物、リン酸リチウムに窒素を混ぜたLIPON(LiPO4-xx)、Li4SiO4等のLi‐Si‐O系化合物、Li‐P‐Si‐O系化合物、Li‐V‐Si‐O系化合物、La0.51Li0.35TiO2.94、La0.55Li0.35TiO3、Li3xLa2/3-xTiO3等のぺロブスカイト型構造を有する化合物、Li、La、Zrを有するガーネット型構造を有する化合物等を挙げることができる。
 上記のイオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料に用いられる材料としては、イオン伝導性のナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物の組成を基本にして、リチウムのモル比率を小さくすることによってイオン伝導的に絶縁性の材料にしたもの以外に、(La1/2Li1/2)TiO3等のストイキオ組成のぺロブスカイト型構造を有する化合物等を挙げることができる。
 本発明の積層型固体電池10において、正極層1または負極層2の少なくともいずれか一つの層に含まれる活物質材料と、正極層1または負極層2の少なくともいずれか一つの層に含まれる固体電解質材料と、固体電解質層3に含まれる固体電解質材料と、内部集電層4に含まれる特定伝導材料とが、リチウム含有リン酸化合物を含むことが好ましい。
 このように構成することにより、正極層1または負極層2と、固体電解質層3と、内部集電層4とがリン酸骨格を共有化することによって、低抵抗の積層型固体電池10をより緻密に一体焼結によって作製することができる。
 なお、上記の活物質材料の種類は限定されないが、正極活物質材料としては、Li32(PO43、LiFePO4、LiMnPO4等のナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物、または、オリビン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物を使用することができる。また、LiCoO2、LiCo1/3Ni1/3Mn1/32等の層状化合物、LiMn24、LiNi0.5Mn1.54、Li4Ti512等のスピネル型構造を有するリチウム含有化合物、LiFePO4、LiMnPO4等のリン酸化合物を正極活物質材料として用いることができる。負極活物質材料としては、黒鉛-リチウム化合物、Li‐Al等のリチウム合金、Li32(PO43、Li3Fe2(PO43、Li4Ti512等の酸化物等を用いることができる。
 内部集電層4を形成する方法は、特に限定されないが、たとえば、材料をスラリー状に調製してグリーンシートを積層すること、または、材料をペースト状に調製してスクリーン印刷すること等によって行ってもよい。グリーンシートを成形する方法は、特に限定されないが、ダイコーター、コンマコーター、スクリーン印刷法等を用いて行ってもよい。グリーンシートを積層する方法は、特に限定されないが、熱間等方圧プレス(HIP)、 冷間等方圧プレス(CIP)、静水圧プレス(WIP)等を用いて行ってもよい。
 (第2実施形態)
 次に、本発明の第2実施形態として、図1に示す積層型固体電池10を基本構造とする積層型固体電池について説明する。
 図2に示すように、図1と同様にして、積層型固体電池100では、n個の(単電池1~n)が内部集電層4を介して積み重ねられている。積層方向に対して各(単電池1~n)の正極層1(負極層2)が同じ側に配されるよう、n個の(単電池1~n)をn-1個の内部集電層4を介して積層する。n個の単電池を積み重ねることにより形成された積層体の外側面上には、外部電極5aと5bが配置されている。具体的には、積層体の一方端部である最下段に位置する(単電池1)において、正極層1の固体電解質層3に隣接しない面上には、電子伝導性を有する外部電極5aが配置されている。積層体の他方端部である最上段に位置する(単電池n)において、負極層2の固体電解質層3に隣接しない面上には、電子伝導性を有する外部電極5bが配置されている。外部電極5aを正極端子に接続し、外部電極5bを負極端子に接続することによって、充電と放電が行われる。
 以上のように構成された積層型固体電池100では、内部集電層4に含まれる特定伝導材料としてイオン伝導的に絶縁性の材料を用いることによって、内部集電層4を介して積層された正極層1と負極層2をイオン伝導的に絶縁し、かつ、内部集電層4に電子伝導性材料を含ませることによって、内部集電層4を介して積層された正極層1と負極層2を電気的に接触させることができる。これにより、引き出しタブ等の外部集電部材を用いることなく、積層型固体電池100を構成するn個の単電池を電気的に直列に接続し、かつ、効率的に正極層1と負極層2をイオン伝導的に絶縁することができる。これにより、空間利用率とコスト性に優れた積層型固体電池100を得ることができる。
 なお、本実施形態の積層型固体電池100を構成する方法は、特に限定されず、たとえば、まず、(単電池1~n)と内部集電層4を構成し、これらを1組の外部電極5aと5bで挟み込むように順次積層して積層型固体電池100とする方法、または、外部電極5aの上に正極層1、固体電解質層3、負極層2、内部集電層4を順次積層し、最後に外部電極5bを積層して積層型固体電池100とする方法等でもよい。
 (第3実施形態)
 次に、本発明の第3実施形態として、図2に示す積層型固体電池100を応用した積層型固体電池の構造について説明する。
 図3に示すように、単電池をn個、直列に接続して構成した2つの発電要素10Aと10Bを、外部電極5aを介して積層し、電気的に並列に接続することにより、積層型固体電池が構成されている。図4と図5に示すように、2つの発電要素10Aと10Bは、それぞれ、n個の(単電池1~n)をn-1個の内部集電層4を介して積層することにより構成されている。すなわち、発電要素10Aと10Bの各々では、図2に示す積層型固体電池100と同様にして、n個の単電池が電気的に直列に接続されている。
 図3~図5に示すように、n個の単電池を積み重ねることにより、第1の積層体として発電要素10Aが形成され、n個の単電池を積み重ねることにより、第2の積層体として発電要素10Bが形成されている。発電要素10Aの一方側面に位置付けられる正極層1と、発電要素10Bの一方側面に位置付けられる正極層1との間に、第1の外部電極として外部電極5aが配置されている。すなわち、2つの発電要素10Aと10Bの間に介在する外部電極5aの両面には、それぞれ、正極層1が隣接している。発電要素10Aの他方側面に位置付けられる負極層2の上には、第2の外部電極として外部電極5bが配置されている。発電要素10Bの他方側面に位置付けられる負極層2の上には、第3の外部電極として外部電極5bが配置されている。このように、図3に示される積層体の端部である最上段と最下段に位置する面上にも外部電極5bが配置されている。そして、二つの外部電極5bと5bが外部集電部材11を介して電気的に接続されている。したがって、2つの発電要素10Aと10Bは、外部電極5aと5bを介して電気的に並列に接続されている。外部電極5aを正極端子に接続し、外部電極5bを負極端子に接続することによって、充電と放電が行われる。
 以上のように構成された積層型固体電池では、n個の(単電池1~n)を電気的に直列に接続した発電要素10Aと10Bを電気的に2並列に接続することによって、図2に示す積層型固体電池100と同じ電圧で2倍の容量を発現することが可能になる。
 なお、本実施形態では、2つの発電要素10Aと10Bの間に介在する外部電極5aの両面には、それぞれ、正極層1が隣接するように構成した積層型固体電池について説明したが、負極層2が隣接するように2つの発電要素10Aと10Bを配置してもよい。
 図3に示す積層型固体電池においても、図2に示す積層型固体電池100と同様の作用効果を得ることができる。
 (第4実施形態)
 最後に、本発明の第4実施形態として、図2に示す積層型固体電池100を応用した積層型固体電池の構造で、第3実施形態の変形例について説明する。
 図6~図7に示すように、単電池をn個、直列に接続して構成した複数の発電要素10Aと10Bを、隣り合う二つの発電要素10Aと10Bの間に外部電極5aまたは外部電極5bを介して積層し、電気的に並列に接続することにより、積層型固体電池が構成されている。図6では、発電要素が偶数個の場合の積層型固体電池の断面構造が示されている。図7では、発電要素が奇数個の場合の積層型固体電池の断面構造が示されている。2つの発電要素10Aと10Bは、それぞれ、n個の(単電池1~n)をn-1個の内部集電層4を介して積層することにより構成されている。すなわち、発電要素10Aと10Bの各々では、図2に示す積層型固体電池100と同様にして、n個の単電池が電気的に直列に接続されている。
 発電要素10Aの一方側面に位置付けられる正極層1と、発電要素10Bの一方側面に位置付けられる正極層1との間に、第1の外部電極として外部電極5aが配置されている。また、発電要素10Aの一方側面に位置付けられる負極層2と、発電要素10Bの一方側面に位置付けられる負極層2との間に、第1の外部電極として外部電極5bが配置されている。すなわち、2つの発電要素10Aと10Bの間に介在する外部電極5aの両面には、それぞれ、正極層1が隣接している。2つの発電要素10Aと10Bの間に介在する外部電極5bの両面には、それぞれ、負極層1が隣接している。
 また、図6と図7に示される積層体の端部である最上段と最下段に位置する面上にも外部電極5aまたは外部電極5bが配置されている。そして、複数の外部電極5aと5a、複数の外部電極5bと5bが電気的に接続されている。したがって、複数の発電要素10Aと10Bは、外部電極5aと5bを介して電気的に並列に接続されている。外部電極5aを正極端子に接続し、外部電極5bを負極端子に接続することによって、充電と放電が行われる。
 以上のように構成された積層型固体電池では、n個の(単電池1~n)を電気的に直列に接続した発電要素10Aと10Bを電気的にm個、すなわち、偶数個、または、奇数個、並列に接続することによって、図2に示す積層型固体電池100と同じ電圧で、m倍、すなわち、偶数倍または奇数倍の容量を発現することが可能になる。
 図6と図7に示す積層型固体電池においても、図2に示す積層型固体電池100と同様の作用効果を得ることができる。
 なお、第1~第4実施形態の各積層型固体電池において、各構成要素は以下に示される材料を用いて実現され得る。
 固体電解質層3は、上述した固体電解質材料を主材として含む。
 正極層1は、上述した正極活物質材料と固体電解質材料の混合物を主材として含む。また、正極層1は、導電剤として少量の炭素等を含有してもよい。
 負極層2は、上述した負極活物質材料と固体電解質材料の混合物を主材として含む。また、負極層2は、導電剤として少量の炭素等を含有してもよい。
 以下、本発明の実施例を説明する。
 本発明の第2実施形態に従った積層型固体電池を実際に作製した実施例について説明する。
 <活物質粉末の合成>
 活物質材料としてのリチウム含有バナジウムリン酸化合物(Li32(PO43)(以下、LVPという)粉末と導電剤としての炭素粉末とからなる活物質粉末を、以下の手順で合成した。
 (1)原料としてのLi2CO3、V25および(NH42H(PO43の各粉末をLVPの化学量論比になるように乳鉢にて混合した。
 (2)得られた混合粉末を空気雰囲気下で600℃の温度で10時間焼成した。
 (3)得られた焼成粉末に導電材としての炭素粉末を加えて乳鉢にて混合した。
 (4)得られた混合粉末をアルゴンガス雰囲気下で950℃の温度で10時間焼成した。
 <正負極層用シート、固体電解質層用シート、内部集電層用シートの作製>
 固体電解質材料としてのナシコン型アルミニウム置換リン酸ゲルマニウムリチウム(Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO43)(以下、LAGPという)の結晶粉末と、バインダとしてのポリビニルアルコールをトルエンに溶解して得られたバインダ溶液とを混合して、固体電解質層用スラリーを得た。調合比は、質量比率で、LAGP:ポリビニルアルコール=70:30とした。
 固体電解質材料としてのLAGPの結晶粉末50質量部と、上記で得られた活物質粉末45質量部と、導電剤としての炭素粉末5質量部とを乳鉢で混合して得られた混合粉末を主材として用い、この主材と、バインダとしてのポリビニルアルコールをトルエンに溶解して得られたバインダ溶液とを混合して、同一材料からなる正極層用スラリーと負極層用スラリーを作製した。調合比は、質量比率で、主材:ポリビニルアルコール=70:30とした。
 内部集電層に含まれる特定伝導材料としては、イオン伝導性のナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物の組成を基本にして、リチウムのモル比率を小さくすることによって得られる化合物を採用した。具体的には、特定伝導材料としてのLiGe2(PO43の組成式で表わされるリチウムゲルマニウム含有ナシコン化合物の結晶粉末50質量部と、電子伝導材料としての炭素粉末50質量部とを乳鉢にて混合して得られた混合粉末を主材として用い、この主材と、バインダとしてのポリビニルアルコールをトルエンに溶解して得られたバインダ溶液とを混合して、内部集電層用スラリーを作製した。調合比は、質量比率で、主材:ポリビニルアルコール=70:30とした。
 以上のようにして作製された正極層用スラリー、負極層用スラリー、固体電解質層用スラリーおよび内部集電層用スラリーを、ドクターブレードを用いて、50μmの厚みに成形することにより、正極層用シート、負極層用シート、固体電解質層用シートおよび内部集電層用シートを作製した。
 <積層型固体電池の作製>
 直径が12mmの円板形状に打ち抜いた正極層1用シート、負極層2用シート、固体電解質層3用シートおよび内部集電層4用シートを、図1に示すような積層体の構成で積層し、60℃の温度で1トンの圧力で熱圧着して、積層型固体電池10用積層体を得た。ただし、正極層1は1枚の正極層用シートで構成し、負極層2は2枚の負極層用シートで構成した。
 図8に示す外部電極5a、5b用シートとしては内部集電層4用シートと同じものを使用し、(単電池1)と(単電池2)のそれぞれの内部集電層4に隣接しない面に外部電極5a、5b用シートを積層した。
 以上のようにして得られた固体電池用積層体を、2枚のアルミナ製のセラミックス板を用いて挟み込み、酸素ガス雰囲気下で500℃の温度で2時間焼成し、ポリビニルアルコールの除去を行った後、窒素ガス雰囲気下で700℃の温度で2時間焼成し、正極層1、負極層2、固体電解質層3、内部集電層4、外部電極5a、5bの焼結接合を行い、図8に示す積層型固体電池を得た。
 さらに、効率的に集電するために図8に示す積層型固体電池の外部電極5a、5bの外側に白金層をスパッタリングにより形成した。
 その後、積層型固体電池を100℃の温度で乾燥した後、2032型のコインセルで封止した。
 <固体電池の評価>
 図9に示すように、外部電極5aを正極端子に接続し、外部電極5bを負極端子に接続することによって、充電と放電を行った。0~3Vの電圧範囲、200μA/cm2の電流密度で、図9に示される積層型固体電池の定電流定電圧充放電測定を行った結果、充放電が可能であることが確認された。
 なお、本実施例においては、固体電解質材料としてLAGPの結晶粉末を用いたが、LAGPの非晶質粉末を用いても同様の効果が得られる。
 また、本実施例においては負極活物質にLVPを用いたものについてのみ説明を行ったが、負極活物質としては黒鉛-リチウム化合物、Li‐Al等のリチウム合金、Li32(PO43、Li3Fe2(PO43、Li4Ti512等の酸化物を用いても同様の効果が得られる。
 今回開示された実施の形態と実施例はすべての点で例示であって制限的なものではないと考慮されるべきである。本発明の範囲は以上の実施の形態ではなく、請求の範囲によって示され、請求の範囲と均等の意味および範囲内でのすべての修正と変形を含むものであることが意図される。
 本発明の積層型固体電池によれば、内部集電層を介在して複数の単電池を直列に接続したバイポーラ型の積層型固体電池を得ることができる。また、積層型固体電池を構成する複数の単電池を直列に接続することができるとともに、隣り合う二つの単電池において正極層と負極層をイオン伝導的に絶縁することができるので、高い特性の積層型固体電池を得ることができる。
 1:正極層、2:負極層、3:固体電解質層、4:内部集電層、10,100:積層型固体電池。

Claims (11)

  1.  各々が順に積み重ねられた正極層、固体電解質層および負極層から構成される少なくとも第1と第2の単電池と、
     前記第1の単電池の正極層に接触する一方側面と、前記第2の単電池の負極層に接触する他方側面とを有し、前記第1と第2の単電池の間に介在するように配置された内部集電層と、を備え、
     前記内部集電層は、電子伝導材料を含み、さらに、イオン伝導的に絶縁性の特定伝導材料を含む、積層型固体電池。
  2.  前記電子伝導材料は、導電性酸化物、金属および炭素材料からなる群より選ばれた少なくとも一種を含む、請求項1に記載の積層型固体電池。
  3.  前記特定伝導材料は、前記正極層および前記負極層より選ばれた少なくとも一つの層に含まれる固体電解質材料と類似の構造を有する、請求項1または請求項2に記載の積層型固体電池。
  4.  前記固体電解質材料と前記特定伝導材料とが、リチウムを含む化合物を含む、請求項3に記載の積層型固体電池。
  5.  前記固体電解質材料と前記特定伝導材料とが、リチウム含有リン酸化合物を含む、請求項3に記載の積層型固体電池。
  6.  前記固体電解質材料と前記特定伝導材料とが、ナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物を含む、請求項3に記載の積層型固体電池。
  7.  前記特定伝導材料に含まれるナシコン型構造を有するリチウム含有リン酸化合物が、化学式Li1+xxM'2-x(PO43(化学式中、xは0≦x≦1、MはAlまたはGa、M'はTi、GeおよびZrからなる群より選ばれた1種以上の元素である)で表わされる、請求項6に記載の積層型固体電池。
  8.  前記正極層および前記負極層より選ばれた少なくとも一つの層に含まれる活物質材料と、前記正極層および前記負極層より選ばれた少なくとも一つの層に含まれる固体電解質材料と、前記固体電解質層に含まれる固体電解質材料と、前記内部集電層に含まれる前記特定伝導材料とが、リチウム含有リン酸化合物を含む、請求項1に記載の積層型固体電池。
  9.  各々が順に積み重ねられた正極層、固体電解質層および負極層から構成されるn個の単電池の間に前記内部集電層をn-1個配置して、前記n個の前記単電池を積み重ねることにより形成された積層型固体電池であって、
     1段目およびn段目に位置する前記単電池の前記内部集電層に隣接しない面に電子伝導性を有する外部電極を配置する、請求項1から請求項8までのいずれか1項に記載の積層型固体電池。
  10.  各々が順に積み重ねられた正極層、固体電解質層および負極層から構成されるn個の単電池の間に前記内部集電層をn-1個配置して、前記n個の前記単電池を積み重ねることにより発電要素をm個形成し、該m個の発電要素の間にm-1個の外部電極を配置して積み重ねることにより形成された積層型固体二次電池であって、
     1つの前記外部電極に隣接する2つの前記発電要素を、前記外部電極の両面に前記単電池の前記正極層側または前記負極層側が隣接するように積み重ねるとともに電気的に接続し、
     1段目およびm段目に位置する前記発電要素の前記外部電極に隣接しない面にも外部電極を配置し、
     さらに同じ極となる前記外部電極間を外部集電部材で電気的に接続することにより、少なくとも2つの前記発電要素を電気的に並列に接続した構造を含む、請求項1から請求項8までのいずれか1項に記載の積層型固体電池。
  11.  前記外部電極を形成する導電材料は、導電性酸化物および金属より選ばれた少なくとも一種を含む、請求項9または請求項10に記載の積層型固体電池。
