Intrusion of water from the outside to the inside of the housing 20 is prevented by press-contacting to the entire circumference.
- the fitting detection part 34 has a flat plate shape continuous in the width direction of the lid member 30 (direction parallel to the arrangement direction of the fitting parts 12). Projects toward the back side. Specifically, the shape and position of the fitting detection unit 34 are set so that the fitting detection unit 34 performs the following operation.
- the fitting detection portion 34 is connected to the outer wall 22 of the housing 20 and the conductor of the housing 20. It passes between the connecting portion 14 of the connecting conductor 10 held by the holding portion 24 and reaches each terminal locking portion 27.
- the terminal 40 is inserted to the normal fitting position (the position where the electric contact portion 42 of the terminal 40 and the fitting portion 12 of the connecting conductor 10 are sufficiently fitted) to lock the terminal.
- the fitting detection portion 34 enters between the upper surface of the terminal locking portion 27 and the top wall of the housing 20 (the upper portion of the outer wall 22), thereby locking the terminal.
- the part 27 is restrained from the upper side. That is, elastic displacement of the terminal locking portion 27 in the direction of escaping from the terminal 40, that is, the direction of releasing the locking is restricted.
- the insertion of the terminal 40 is insufficient, and the terminal 40 is properly fitted (the electrical contact portion 42 of the terminal 40 and the fitting portion 12 of the connecting conductor 10 are sufficiently fitted). If the terminal locking part 27 is not elastically restored, the lid member 30 is inserted to the mounting position (position where the locked claw 35c is locked to the lid member insertion part 28). - a conductor abutting portion 38 is formed below the guided portion 37, and this conductor abutting portion 38 is connected to the connection member when the lid member 30 is about to be inserted deeper than a normal mounting position. It abuts on the connecting portion 14 of the conductor 10, thereby preventing excessive insertion of the lid member 30.
- the terminal 40 corresponding to the terminal insertion portion 26 is inserted into each terminal insertion portion 26 of the housing 20 in the waterproof joint connector JC.
- the electrical contact portion 42 of the terminal 40 is fitted into the corresponding fitting portion 12 of the connection conductor 10 held in the housing 20 in advance.
- the locked projection 45 of the terminal comes into contact with the locking portion 27a of the terminal locking portion 27 of the housing 20, and the locking portion 27a is elastic upward (that is, retracted from the terminal 40). Displace.
- the locking portion 27a allows the insertion of the terminal 40 by being elastically displaced in the retracting direction.
- the locking portion 27a is displaced in the returning direction when the terminal 40 is inserted to the normal fitting position shown in FIG. 7, and locks the locked protrusion 45.
- FIG. When the terminal 40 is in an incompletely inserted state in which the terminal 40 is not inserted up to the normal fitting position, the terminal 40 cannot be displaced in the return direction, and thus remains elastically displaced by a certain amount or more in the retracting direction.
- the fitting detection unit 34 includes the connection portion 37 based on the guide received by the guided portion 37 from the connection portion 14 of the connection conductor 10 and the guidance received directly by the fitting detection portion 34 from the fitting detection portion guide portion 23. 14 and the outer wall 22 of the housing 20 are guided to the terminal locking portion 27 side.
- the fitting detection part 34 is connected to all the terminal locking parts 27 and the fitting detection part guide part 23. You can enter between. For this reason, the lid member 30 is allowed to be inserted to the proper mounting position where the latched claw 35 c is fitted into the latching hole 28 a of the lid member insertion portion 28. In this mounted state, the fitting detection part 34 is positioned above each terminal locking part 27 and restricts the terminal locking part 27 from being elastically displaced upward, that is, in the unlocking direction. That is, the double locking function of the terminal 40 is exhibited.
- the fitting detection unit 34 inserts the lid member 30 to the mounting position. Before being in contact with the terminal locking portion 27 that is elastically displaced upward by the terminal 40 in the incompletely inserted state, whereby further insertion (ie, mounting) of the lid member 30 is performed. Stop. From this, the operator can recognize that the insertion of any one of the terminals 40 is insufficient.
- the waterproof joint connector is different from the conventional connector shown in FIG. 9 in that the connecting conductor 10 is not provided on the lid member 30 side but is held in the housing 20 in advance, That is, the lid member 30 can be inserted into the lid member insertion portion 28 after the fitting work between the connecting conductor 10 and the terminal 40 is completed.
- the connection conductor 10 is held in the housing 20 in advance, and all the terminals 40 are fitted before the lid member 30 is inserted. Regardless of the number, the insertion resistance of the lid member 30 can be kept low, and the locking force required for the terminal locking portion 27 can be low. Therefore, when the insertion resistance of the lid member 30 is suddenly increased due to the contact between the fitting detection portion 34 and the terminal locking portion 27 in the elastically displaced state as described above, the operator does not have the insertion resistance of the terminal 40. It is possible to easily determine that it is due to complete insertion. That is, the detection of a fitting failure is greatly facilitated as compared with the conventional case.
- the fitting detection part 34 does not necessarily have a double locking function of the terminal 40. Further, it may be formed for each terminal locking portion 27.
- the entire lid member 30 can also be set as appropriate.
- the guided portion 37 and the conductor contact portion 38 can be omitted.
- the entire lid member 30 may be integrally formed of a single material.
- the lid portion 32 has a lid portion main body 35 and a seal member 36, and the lid portion main body 35 and the fitting detection portion 34 are integrally formed of a resin harder than the seal member 36.
- the integral molding suppresses an increase in the number of parts of the lid member 30, and the fitting detection unit 34 has rigidity necessary for terminal fitting detection (that is, fitting by contact with the terminal locking unit 27).
- the characteristic of preventing the deformation of the detection unit 34 itself is secured, and the elastic deformation of the seal member 36 mounted on the outer peripheral surface of the lid body 35 is utilized to make the seal member 36 and the lid member insertion portion 28 By ensuring close contact with the inner peripheral surface, a high waterproof function can be secured.
- the shape of the connecting conductor 10 is not limited to the illustrated one.
- the fitting portions 12 of the connection conductor 10 may be arranged in a direction orthogonal to the fitting direction with the terminal 40, and may be arranged in a plurality of rows.
- the connecting portion 14 does not necessarily have a flat plate shape as long as it allows the fitting detection portion 34 to pass between the connecting portion 14 and the housing outer wall 22.
- the present invention provides a waterproof joint connector that can reliably perform electrical connection between terminals with a simple structure regardless of the number of waterproof wires and terminals.
- This waterproof joint connector is a waterproof joint connector for electrically connecting a plurality of waterproof wires, each having a terminal on the terminal and a waterproof plug provided on the back side of the terminal.
- a conductor, a housing, and a lid member are provided.
- the connection conductor has a shape that can be fitted to the terminals, and a plurality of fitting portions arranged in a direction orthogonal to the fitting direction, and a connecting portion that interconnects the fitting portions. And integrally.
- the housing is opened in a specific direction, each terminal and the waterproof plug on the back side can be inserted from the opening, and a plurality of terminal inserts having an inner peripheral surface that can be in close contact with the waterproof plug
- a lid member insertion portion that opens in a direction opposite to the terminal insertion portion, and a terminal that is inserted from the opening of the terminal insertion portion to a predetermined normal fitting position along the insertion direction.
- a conductor holding portion that directly holds the connection conductor so as to be fitted to the fitting portion, and retracts from the terminal along a direction orthogonal to the insertion direction as the terminal is inserted into the terminal insertion portion.
- a terminal locking portion for locking the terminal by displacing in the return direction when the terminal reaches the normal fitting position.
- the lid member is formed of a member different from the connection conductor and the housing, and can be inserted into the lid member insertion portion so as to close the opening of the lid member insertion portion and attached to the housing.
- a lid portion having a shape that closes the lid member insertion portion, and an outer wall of the housing from the lid portion and a connecting portion of the connecting conductor held on the conductor holding portion of the housing.
- a fitting detector that protrudes so as to pass through the terminal locking portions.
- the fitting detection unit is configured such that when any terminal is positioned in front of the regular fitting position, the terminal locking portion corresponding to the terminal is elastically displaced by a certain amount or more in a direction in which it is retracted from the terminal. It has a shape that prevents the lid member from being attached to the lid member insertion portion by coming into contact with the terminal locking portion.
- a connecting conductor including a plurality of fitting portions and a connecting portion for connecting them is held in advance in a conductor holding portion on the housing side, and the fitting operation between each fitting portion and the terminal on the electric wire side is performed. Since the lid member can be inserted into the lid member insertion portion of the housing after being made, the insertion resistance of the lid member can be kept low regardless of the number of the terminals. This facilitates the detection of the fitting of the terminals and ensures the electrical connection between the terminals.
- each of the terminals can be fitted into a fitting portion corresponding to the terminal by being inserted into the housing from a terminal insertion portion of the housing.
- the terminal locking portion of the housing is elastically displaced in the direction of retracting from the terminal, thereby allowing the insertion of the terminal, and when the terminal is inserted to the normal fitting position, the terminal locking portion is displaced in the return direction.
- the terminal is locked. If the terminal is in an incomplete insertion state in which the terminal is not inserted to the normal fitting position, the terminal locking portion cannot be displaced in the return direction and remains in a state where it is elastically displaced more than a certain amount.
- the lid member is inserted into the lid member insertion portion of the housing.
- the fitting detection portion of the lid member passes between the connecting portion of the connecting conductor and the outer wall of the housing and reaches the terminal locking portion side, but any one of the terminals reaches the normal fitting position.
- the lid member is attached to the lid member insertion portion by contacting the terminal latch portion corresponding to the terminal (that is, the terminal latch portion not displaced in the return direction). Stop. This blockage of attachment can inform the operator of the presence of a terminal that is insufficiently inserted.
- the lid member and the connection conductor are separate members, and the connection conductor is held in the housing in advance, and the fitting operation between each fitting portion of the connection conductor and the terminal is performed. Since the lid member is inserted after the operation is completed, each fitting portion and each terminal of the connection conductor are different from the conventional case in which the lid member and the connection conductor are inserted into the housing integrally. Is not added to the insertion resistance of the lid member. Therefore, the operator can easily determine the increase in the insertion resistance of the lid member due to the contact between the fitting detection portion and the terminal locking portion. That is, it becomes easy to detect a fitting failure.
- the fitting detection portion of the lid member is connected to the terminal locking portion and the outer wall of the housing. It is more preferable to have a shape that restrains the terminal locking portion by entering between the two.
- the fitting detection part having this shape has not only a fitting detection function but also a double locking function that prevents the terminal locking part from displacing in the unlocking direction and makes terminal locking more reliable. Can be demonstrated.
- the lid member may include a guided portion that receives guidance by the connecting portion of the connecting conductor so as to guide the fitting detection portion between the terminal locking portion and the outer wall of the housing.
- the guided portion can effectively utilize the presence of the connecting portion of the connecting conductor in the housing to guide the fitting detection portion to a position suitable for the fitting detection.
- the lid member includes a conductor abutting portion that prevents excessive insertion of the lid member into the lid member insertion portion by abutting the connecting portion of the connecting conductor.
- This conductor contact portion can reliably prevent excessive insertion of the lid member by utilizing the presence of the connecting portion of the connecting conductor in the housing.
- the lid portion includes a lid body, and a seal member that is mounted on the outer circumferential surface of the lid body, and is in close contact with the inner circumferential surface of the lid member insertion portion in an elastically deformed state
- the lid body and the fitting detection part are made of a resin harder than the seal member
- the lid part is secured while ensuring the rigidity necessary for terminal fitting detection in the fitting detection part.
- the elastic deformation of the seal member mounted on the outer peripheral surface of the main body to ensure the close contact between the seal member and the inner peripheral surface of the lid member insertion portion, a high waterproof function can be ensured.
- the lid body and the fitting detection part are integrally formed of a resin harder than the seal member, the number of parts of the lid member can be reduced by the integral molding.
