Abstract

 熱、光等に安定で、広い温度範囲でネマチック相となり、低粘度、適切な光学異方性、弾性定数K33、負の誘電率異方性を有し、他の液晶性化合物との優れた相溶性をもつ液晶性化合物の提供。 熱、光等に安定で、低粘度、適切な光学異方性、適切な負の誘電率異方性、弾性定数K33を有し、しきい値電圧が低く、ネマチック相の上限温度が高く、下限温度が低い上記化合物を含む液晶組成物の提供。 短い応答時間、省電力、低駆動電圧、大きなコントラストを有し、広い温度範囲で使用可能な上記組成物を含む液晶表示素子の提供。  例えば、トランス-4'-[2,3-ジフロオロ-4-(トランス-4-プロピルシクロヘキシル)フェノキシメチル]-トランス-4-ペンチルビシクロヘキシルのように4つ以上の環を持ち、中央の環が2,3-ジフルオロフェノキシを有する液晶性化合物。該化合物を含む液晶組成物。該液晶組成物を用いる液晶表示素子。
