Abstract

 磁性結晶粒の結晶粒径の微細化と高密度化を両立させながら、中間層~シード層の非磁性層の膜厚を薄くしても磁気記録層の垂直配向性を維持することで、高密度の情報の記録再生が可能な磁気記録媒体、その製造方法、および磁気記録再生装置が提供される。そのような磁気記録媒体は、非磁性基板上に、少なくとも裏打ち層と配向制御層、磁気記録層、保護層を有する垂直磁気記録媒体であって、配向制御層は複数層から構成され、基板側からシード層および中間層を含み、シード層と中間層の材料選択として、アモルファスであるシード層材料に対する中間層材料の接触角が10度~100度の範囲にあるものを用いる。
