Abstract

 対向配置されたアノード触媒層20及びカソード触媒層30と、アノード触媒層20及びカソード触媒層30の間に設けられた高分子電解質膜10と、を備える膜電極接合体1であって、アノード触媒層20は、層イオン交換容量が互いに異なる複数のイオン交換層20a,20bからなり、複数のイオン交換層20a,20bのうち、層イオン交換容量が最小であるイオン交換層A(20a)が、層イオン交換容量が最大であるイオン交換層B(20b)よりも、高分子電解質膜10側に配置されており、イオン交換層A(20a)の層イオン交換容量に対するイオン交換層B(20b)の層イオン交換容量の比が1.7以上であることを特徴とする。
