- the present invention relates to a safety device for a vehicle wheel, and more particularly to an anti-rotation device for securing the connecting elements of said wheel.
- hubcaps For aesthetic reasons, many vehicles, whatever their use, are equipped with hubcaps. These elements hide the hub and the fasteners of the rim and the rim itself, most of these rims being quite unsightly for reasons of cost. While remaining easily removable, the hubcaps can also provide protection of the fastening elements of the rim of the wheel against the weather and various projections. Fasteners are less attacked by corrosion and do not come into contact with their housing, so they can be removed if necessary.
- the present invention aims to solve the problems of the prior art by proposing a locking device for nuts or wheel screws, integrated into the hubcap of said wheel, easily removable so as not to require special tools or additional . Said locking device and therefore safety prohibits the rotation of the fastening elements of said wheel.
- the subject of the invention is a safety device for a vehicle wheel, said wheel comprising a rim, fixed to the hub of said vehicle by fixing screws and equipped with a hubcap, characterized in that it comprises anti-rotation means carried by the hubcap and provided to cooperate with the fastening screws of the rim on the hub.

- the wheel 12 comprises a tire 14 mounted on a rim 16 fixed to the hub 18 by fastening screws 20.
- a hubcap 22 incorporating the safety device 10 is attached to the rim 16 by means known from the prior art, for example by a clipping 24, facilitating the assembly and disassembly of said hubcap 22 without special tools.
- the vehicle wheel safety device 10 incorporates anti-rotation means 26 designed to prevent rotation, in particular unscrewing of the fastening screws, which may cause the wheel 12 of the vehicle to become disconnected.
- the anti-rotation means 26, detailed in FIG. 1B, of the safety device 10 comprise at least one cap 28 and means 30 for locking in rotation of said caps.
- Each cap 28 is connected in rotation with each of the fixing screws 20 of the rim 16 integral with the hub 18 to which it is attached.
- each of the caps 28 of the safety device 10 with each screw comprises interlocking means 32, generally a conjugate profile of the screw head in the case of a hexagonal screw, see FIGS. and 2B or a hexagon head screw.
- Each cap 28 of the safety device 10 is rotatably mounted relative to the hubcap which carries it so as to allow its orientation.
- the caps 28 have a substantially cylindrical body and have fastening means 34, such as those illustrated on the cap 28 shown in section in Figure IB.
- These fixing means 34 comprise holes 36, of diameter substantially equal to that of the body 38 of the cap 28, provided in the hubcap 22 opposite each fastening screw 20 for the passage of said bodies 38.
- the holding in position of each body 38 of cap 28 in a hole 36 of the hubcap 22 is provided for example by lugs 40.
- fastening means 34 may be used, as long as they allow rotation of the cap 28 while maintaining it on the hubcap 22 during use of the vehicle, in particular a throat with a circlip.
- the cap 28-1 has a projecting 44-1 hexagonal part adapted to be housed in said screw head. standard hexagon socket, close to interlocking play.
