Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for heat-treating a steel member such as a gear that requires high strength characteristics.
- steel members such as gears are often subjected to carburizing and quenching as a process for increasing the surface hardness while maintaining toughness.
- the carburizing process is performed to increase the surface carbon concentration while the steel member is heated to the austenitizing temperature or higher, and then the quenching process is performed to ensure the toughness of the core and the surface hardness is increased. It is a process to enhance.
- the conventional carburizing and quenching treatment requires a long time carburizing treatment using a large heat treatment furnace as described above, and therefore, the processing time is long and much energy is consumed. For this reason, it has been desired to shorten the processing time and energy consumption required for carburizing and quenching, and to further reduce the size of the carburizing and quenching equipment itself.
- Patent Documents 2 and 3 to be described later show that after carburizing, a predetermined temperature region is gradually cooled at a cooling rate equal to or lower than a predetermined value.
- a predetermined temperature region is gradually cooled at a cooling rate equal to or lower than a predetermined value.
- simple cooling is not necessary. In some cases, it was not always possible to obtain a sufficient effect of suppressing distortion by simply inserting it.

- Patent Document 2 JP-A-5-148535
- Patent Document 3 JP-A-8-311607
- the present invention has been made in view of the conventional problems that have been striking, and a steel member heat treatment method that can suppress the occurrence of distortion and can shorten the processing time as compared with the conventional method. It is what you want to provide.
- a first aspect of the present invention is a reduced pressure carburizing step of carburizing a steel member in a carburized gas under reduced pressure
- the reduced pressure cooling step for cooling the cooling gas in a state where the cooling gas is reduced to a pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure
- the steel member heat treatment method of the present invention employs the above-mentioned reduced-pressure carburizing process as a carburizing process, employs a quenching process in which quenching is performed after heating using high-density energy, and quenching, and This is a method in which the above-described reduced-pressure cooling process is positively incorporated between both processes.
- carburizing and quenching treatment equivalent to or higher than that of the prior art, to greatly suppress the occurrence of distortion, and to shorten the processing time compared to the prior art.
- a reduced pressure carburizing process is performed in which the steel member is carburized in a carburized gas under reduced pressure.
- the carburizing process can be performed with a relatively small amount of carburizing gas while maintaining the inside of the high-temperature carburizing furnace in a reduced pressure state, so that the carburizing process can be performed more efficiently than in the past.
- a quenching process is performed in which a desired portion of the steel member is heated using high-density energy and then rapidly cooled.
- the entire steel member By virtue of the characteristics of high-density energy rather than heating, only the desired part, that is, the part whose strength is to be improved by quenching is rapidly heated, and the part is rapidly cooled.
- the desired part that is, the part whose strength is to be improved by quenching is rapidly heated, and the part is rapidly cooled.
- the strength improvement effect by quenching can be enhanced by using high-density energy.
- the degree of carburizing treatment such as the carburizing depth in the reduced pressure carburizing process! Even if the wrinkle is reduced, this can be compensated by the improvement of the quenching ability. Therefore, by combining the quenching process using the high-density energy and the reduced pressure carburizing process, it is possible to shorten the carburizing time in the reduced pressure carburizing process and improve efficiency.
- the high-density energy examples include a high-density energy beam such as an electron beam and a laser beam, and a high-density energy such as high-frequency heating that is not a beam.
- the difference in cooling rate between the upstream and the downstream of the circulating cooling gas is reduced by setting the cooling gas in a reduced pressure state compared to the case of the atmospheric pressure state.
- the steel member subjected to the reduced pressure cooling step can suppress the occurrence of distortion, and the above-described firing is performed while maintaining high dimensional accuracy.
- the process can proceed.
- the merits of the quenching process using the high-density energy described above can be utilized, and the steel member after quenching can be made highly accurate with little distortion.
- the heat treatment method of the present invention is used, the occurrence of distortion can be greatly suppressed as compared with the conventional case, and the effect of carburizing and quenching can be obtained efficiently.
- the reduced-pressure carburizing chamber and the reduced-pressure annealing chamber can be directly connected, and the reduced-pressure carburizing chamber can be connected between the two. There is no need to provide a spare room to adjust the temperature. That is, since both the reduced pressure carburizing step and the reduced pressure slow cooling step are performed in a reduced pressure state, the pressure difference between the two can be reduced. For this reason, the product that has been subjected to reduced pressure carburizing treatment can be subjected to reduced pressure cooling treatment without exposing it to atmospheric pressure, and can be processed with high efficiency while suppressing the occurrence of distortion.
- a second aspect of the present invention resides in a steel member obtained by subjecting the steel member of the first aspect to a heat treatment by a heat treatment method.
- a method for producing a steel member comprising performing the heat treatment method of the first side surface after performing a forming step of forming the steel member into a desired shape.
- a forming step various known forming methods such as press working can be applied.

- the reduced-pressure carburizing step in the present invention is preferably performed under the reduced-pressure condition of 0.001-0.lbar while heating the steel member to the austenitizing temperature or higher. If the depressurization during carburization is less than 0.0 OOlbar, there is a problem that expensive equipment is required to maintain the degree of vacuum. On the other hand, if it exceeds 0.1 lbar, soot is generated during carburizing, which may cause a problem of uneven carburizing concentration.
- carburizing gas for example, acetylene, propane, butane, methane, ethylene, ethane, or the like can be applied.
- a high-concentration carburizing process in which the surface concentration is increased from that of normal carburizing and a compound of iron and carbon is deposited on the surface layer, or a carbonitriding process that also performs nitriding with the carburizing process is adopted. Is also possible.
- the quenching step is preferably performed by heating a desired portion of the steel member to an austenite temperature or higher using high-density energy, and then rapidly cooling it. That is, by using high-density energy, it becomes easy to perform local heating, and the effect of suppressing distortion can be greatly enhanced as compared with the case of heating the whole.
- the rapid cooling rate is preferably 200 ° CZ seconds to 2000 ° CZ seconds.
- the cooling rate is slower than 200 ° CZ seconds, the quenching effect may not be sufficiently obtained, while it is difficult to achieve rapid cooling exceeding 2000 ° CZ seconds.
- the heating using the high-density energy is preferably performed by high-frequency heating. That's right. In this case, heating can be performed with high accuracy by non-contact induction heating, and high efficiency can be achieved.
- a known method can be applied as the high-frequency heating.
- the rapid cooling when the high-frequency heating is used is preferably performed by water quenching.
- the above-mentioned high-frequency heating it is possible to accurately heat a part rather than the entire part, so that even if water quenching is performed using water with a very high cooling effect, quenching distortion will occur. It can be suppressed as much as possible.
- the quenching characteristics can be enhanced, and the strength of the quenched portion can be further increased.
- using this high strength the required strength may be achieved even if the carburization process is simplified (processing time is shortened), that is, the carburized layer is thinned. It is also possible to further shorten the time of the entire heat treatment process.
- the quenching step is preferably performed by heating by irradiating a desired portion of the steel member with a high-density energy beam, followed by quenching by self-cooling. That is, a high-density energy beam represented by an electron beam, a laser beam, or the like can heat the irradiated extreme surface at a very high speed. Then, by limiting the heated part to the extreme surface, if the energy input is terminated by stopping the irradiation of the high-density energy beam or moving, a sufficient rapid cooling effect can be obtained by self-cooling.
- a high-density energy beam represented by an electron beam, a laser beam, or the like can heat the irradiated extreme surface at a very high speed.
- the high-density energy beam is preferably an electron beam.
- the output of the electron beam, the irradiation beam diameter, and the irradiation region can be easily changed, and the heating region can be heated with high accuracy.
- the irradiated portion can be rapidly melted. Therefore, in the quenching step, the desired portion of the steel member is irradiated with the electron beam, and only the surface layer is melted. It is preferable to form a hardened layer by heating to the above to form a melted portion, and then rapidly cooling the melted portion to the martensite transformation region to form a martensite structure.
- the cured layer is preferably 0.2 mm or less. If it exceeds 0.2 mm, the self-cooling effect after melting may be reduced. On the other hand, the cured layer is too thin Since there may be problems with durability, more preferably, 0. lmn! It should be in the range of ⁇ 0.2mm.
- the reduced-pressure cooling step is performed on the high-temperature steel member that has undergone the reduced-pressure carburizing step, but does not necessarily have to be continued until the cooling is completed.
- Katsu et al Cooled at atmospheric pressure after releasing the reduced pressure state in the above-mentioned reduced pressure cooling process, or cooled in a state where pressure was positively increased above atmospheric pressure. You can do this.
- the completion time of the reduced-pressure cooling step can be controlled by the temperature of the steel member or the cooling time.
- the optimum conditions vary depending on the type of steel member, the amount to be processed at one time, the type of cooling gas, the capacity of the cooling gas stirrer, etc., so it is preferable to obtain the control value by experiment and follow it. .
- the end time of the reduced pressure cooling process is determined by temperature, for example, it can be set as a time when a predetermined temperature of 500 ° C. or lower is reached.
- the above-described effects can be fully exerted by slow cooling to at least 500 ° C under conditions that can suppress the occurrence of strain.
- the reduced-pressure cooling step has a higher distortion suppressing effect than that in the atmospheric pressure state without stirring the reduced-pressure cooling gas, but more preferably, moderate stirring is performed. To prevent the cooling gas from staying.
- the reduced pressure cooling step is preferably performed while stirring the cooling gas in a state where the cooling gas is reduced to a pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure.
- the distortion suppression effect can be enhanced more often.
- the reduced-pressure cooling step is performed at least until all the structural transformations are completed, including the front force at which the structural transformation by cooling of the steel member starts. That is, when a steel member is cooled to the normal temperature from the austenite state, it always accompanies the structural transformation, but distortion is likely to occur during the structural transformation. In particular, if the cooling conditions during tissue transformation vary from site to site, distortion is likely to occur. For this reason, the structure of the steel member is changed during the vacuum cooling process. It is preferred to complete the state.
- the reduced pressure state of the cooling gas in the reduced pressure cooling step is preferably in the range of 0.1 lbar to 0.65 bar. There is a problem that the decompression device becomes too expensive to make the decompression state less than 0.1 lbar. On the other hand, when it exceeds 0.65 bar, there is a problem that the above-mentioned effect due to the reduced pressure of the cooling gas is reduced.
- the reduced pressure state of the cooling gas in the reduced pressure cooling step is more preferably in the range of 0.1 lbar to 0.3 bar.
- the effect of the above-mentioned decompression can be enhanced by setting the pressure to 0.3 bar or less.
- the cooling can be performed under the condition of increasing the stirring speed of the cooling gas after the temperature of the steel member becomes equal to or lower than the A1 transformation point. That is, since the depressurization cooling step is performed in a reduced pressure state, the cooling efficiency is lower than when it is performed in a state of atmospheric pressure or higher. Therefore, after the temperature of the steel member enters the temperature range below the A1 transformation point at which the generation of strain is not affected, the cooling efficiency can be improved as much as possible by increasing the stirring speed of the cooling gas.
- the easiest method is to reduce the stirring speed to 0 or the minimum speed at the beginning of the vacuum cooling process and then increase the stirring speed after the temperature of the steel member is below the SA1 transformation point. There is.
- the cooling capacity is improved after the temperature of the steel member is below the A1 transformation point, and the overall cooling time can be shortened.
- a method of increasing the stirring speed a method of increasing at a stretch may be used, but a method of gradually increasing is more preferable.
- the cooling in the reduced pressure cooling step, can be performed under the condition of increasing the pressure of the cooling gas after the temperature of the steel member becomes equal to or lower than the A1 transformation point.
- the cooling rate can be increased by increasing the pressure of the cooling gas after entering the temperature range below the A1 transformation point without affecting the occurrence of strain, and the overall cooling time is shortened. can do.
- the pressure increase during the vacuum cooling process is performed in a range lower than the atmospheric pressure. Further, the pressure increase may be performed at once, but it is more preferable to increase the pressure gradually. As described above, after completing the vacuum cooling process, the pressure is increased to atmospheric pressure or higher. Is not disturbed.
- the cooling gas is preferably nitrogen gas (N gas).
- N gas nitrogen gas
- cooling gas various known gases can be selected according to the quality required for the steel member.
- the steel member is a non-tempered steel that obtains mechanical strength or hardness by precipitation strengthening of vanadium carbonitride or transformation strengthening of bainitic structure after the reduced pressure carburizing step and the reduced pressure cooling step. Is preferred.
- the so-called non-tempered steel strength as described above can effectively exert the effect of applying the heat treatment method of the present invention.
- the steel member is a non-tempered steel that increases after the vacuum carburizing step and the vacuum cooling step by 50 to 150 in terms of the hardness force Vickers hardness Hv inside the member that is not carburized. It is preferable that That is, the non-tempered steel having a differential force of 50 to 150 ⁇ between the Vickers hardness of the steel member before the vacuum carburizing step and the vacuum cooling step and the Vickers hardness of the steel member after these steps are performed. It is preferable to use steel. This makes it possible to easily obtain strength characteristics equivalent to or higher than those obtained by carburizing and quenching conventional carburizing steel by a conventional method.

- the chemical composition of the steel member is, in mass%, C: 0.1 to 0.6%, Si: 0.1 to 0.6%, Mn: 0.5 to 3.0%, Cr: 0 1 to 2.0%, Mo: 0 to 0.3%, V: 0 to 0.3%, S: 0 to 0.05%, the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities Steel (hereinafter referred to as basic steel) can be used.
- the C content is preferably 0.1 to 0.6% as described above.

- the Mn content is preferably set to 0.5 to 3.0%.
- Mn is an effective element for improving hardenability. The effect can be obtained by setting the Mn content to 0.5% or more. On the other hand, if the Mn content exceeds 3.0%, a martensite structure may be formed in the core structure, which may increase the strain.
- the Cr content is preferably 0.1 to 2.0%. By setting the Cr content to 0.1% or more, the temper soft resistance of the hardened layer can be improved. On the other hand, if the Cr content exceeds 2.0%, the toughness may deteriorate due to the formation of Cr-based carbides.
- the Mo content is preferably 0 to 0.3%. Mo does not need to be added. If added, the hardened layer is toughened to improve bending fatigue strength. In order to obtain the curing, the content is preferably 0.01% or more. On the other hand, the effect is saturated even if the Mo content exceeds 0.3%, so the upper limit is preferably set to 0.3%.
- the V content is preferably 0 to 0.3%.
- V does not need to be added, but if it is added, the effect of precipitation of edge nitrides or transformation strengthening of the bainitic structure is obtained and the steel is strengthened. To achieve this effect, 0.01% addition is necessary. On the other hand, even if the V content exceeds 0.3%, the effect may be saturated and the economy may be impaired.
- the S content is preferably 0 to 0.05%. S does not need to be contained. To improve machinability, it is preferable to contain 0.005% or more. However, if it exceeds 0.05%, forgeability is impaired, so 0.05% or less is preferable.

- V 0.05 to 0.25%
- S 0 to 0.05%, the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities.
- the C content is preferably further limited to a range of 0.22 to 0.26%, 0.11 to 0.15%, or 0.2 to 0.3%. By limiting to these ranges, the effect of ensuring the strength of the core and suppressing the deterioration of toughness and machinability can be obtained more reliably.
- Si is more preferably limited to a range of 0.15-0.35%, or 0.2-0.6%, and more preferably 0.4-0.6%. By limiting to these ranges, the effect of improving the temper softening resistance of the hardened layer and the effect of suppressing the deterioration of carburization can be obtained more reliably.

- the lock-up clutch piston includes a disc-shaped flat plate portion and a shaft extending from the flat plate portion. And a hardened layer for suppressing wear due to sliding with the spring is provided on the flat plate portion and the rising portion by performing the quenching step. Can do.
- the lock-up clutch piston can have a hardened layer in place by performing the quenching process locally after the vacuum carburization process and the vacuum annealing process described above. That is, the obtained lock-up clutch piston has the hardened layer on the flat plate portion and the rising portion. For this reason, the lock-up clutch piston exhibits excellent wear resistance at the sliding portion and is extremely excellent in durability. The In addition, since the portions other than the hardened layer are not martensitic, they exhibit good strength. Therefore, the lock-up clutch piston obtained by the present invention is a member having a wear-resistant portion locally and having excellent workability.
- the hardened layer provided on the lockup clutch piston is very thin, and the influence of high density energy hardly affects the portion other than the surface treatment portion (hardened layer).

- Test 1 from the start of cooling of the steel member to the completion of cooling, vacuum cooling was performed in which the cooling gas was cooled in a state where the pressure was lower than atmospheric pressure.
- N is used as the cooling gas
- 0.3 bar a constant vacuum state

- the stirring speed was set to a condition obtained by operating the stirring fan in the apparatus used for cooling at a constant rotational speed of 550 rpm.
- test 2 as shown in Fig. 8, the cooling start force of the steel members is cooled until the cooling is completed. - Test 4 (Comparative test):
- Test 4 as shown in Fig. 10, the cooling gas was cooled at atmospheric pressure until the cooling start force of the steel member was completed. That is, the cooling conditions were such that the pressure of the cooling gas was constant at 1. - the ring gears which are a plurality of steel members 8, were processed by the cooling methods of Tests 1 to 3 and Test 4 described above, and the amounts of distortion were compared by measuring their dimensions.
- the ring gear 8 processed in this example has a tooth surface 81 on the inner peripheral surface of the ring-shaped main body part 80 as shown in FIG. Very important. Therefore, the BBD dimensions of the entire circumference were measured at three locations in the axial direction (positions a, b, and c in Fig. (B)), and the difference between the maximum and minimum values was determined as "BBD ellipse m ) ".
- the BBD dimension is a dimension obtained by placing steel balls 88 of a predetermined diameter so as to contact the valley portion of the tooth surface 81 as shown in FIG. 3, and measuring the inner diameter dimensions of the opposing hard balls 88. is there.

- FIG. This figure shows the distance (mm) with surface force on the horizontal axis and the picker hardness (Hv) on the vertical axis.
- the result of the gear made of the sample E2 is shown as E2
- the result of the gear made of the sample E3 is shown as E3.
- the invention example E1 and the comparative example C1 in Example 1 are also shown.
- the horizontal axis represents time
- the first vertical axis represents the number of rotations of the cooling fan (a)
- the second vertical axis represents the temperature of the material to be treated (b)
- the third vertical axis represents the cooling gas flow. Pressure (c) is applied.
- the rotation speed of the cooling fan is set to be low and the cooling gas pressure is reduced to a pressure sufficiently lower than the atmospheric pressure. The state was gradually cooled under reduced pressure.
- the rotational speed of the cooling fan is slightly lower than the rated value, but slightly higher than in the first cooling step P31, and the cooling gas pressure is also high. Although it was lower than the atmospheric pressure, it was set to a slightly higher state than in the case of the first cooling step P31, and reduced-pressure gradual cooling with slightly higher cooling capacity than that of the first cooling step P31 was performed. In this example, the temperature of the material to be treated reaches the so-called A1 transformation point during the second cooling step P32.
- the first cooling step P31 in which the first material to be treated is at the highest temperature, reduced pressure gradual cooling is performed to reduce the pressure of the cooling gas and the circulation speed (the number of rotations of the cooling fan). Therefore, it is possible to reliably suppress the occurrence of cooling distortion.
- the second cooling step P32 where the material to be treated has cooled to some extent, the possibility of cooling distortion is reduced! / ⁇ , so although the cooling capacity is slightly increased, it exceeds the A1 transformation point of steel. Maintain the vacuum and slow cooling conditions to suppress the strain associated with the tissue transformation. As a result, the generation of strain when exceeding the A1 transformation point can be minimized.
- the third cooling step P33 the cooling capacity can be maximized by increasing the pressure and the circulation speed of the cooling gas.
- a disk-shaped steel member such as a lock-up clutch piston for a torque converter is used.
- the heat treatment method will be described with reference to FIGS.
- the heat treatment of the steel member in this example shows a profile basically similar to that shown in FIG. 1 (a), but strictly speaking, the heating temperature in the quenching process is different.
- the steel member was heated to the carburizing temperature of 950 ° C, held at that temperature for 49 minutes to carry out the vacuum carburizing process, and then cooled to 150 ° C or lower over 40 minutes. Perform a vacuum cooling step.
- the steps so far are the same as those in the first embodiment.
- an electron beam as a high-density energy beam is irradiated to a desired portion to heat only the surface layer to a temperature higher than the melting point to form a melted portion.
- the melted portion is rapidly cooled to the martensitic transformation region.
- a hardened layer is formed by performing an electron beam quenching of a rutensite structure.
- the surface layer of the steel member 2 that becomes the melting zone 21 is heated at an extremely high heating rate of 7500 ° CZ seconds or more to form the melting zone 21 in a molten state at a melting point Mp or more at once.
- the time required to start the irradiation with the high-density energy beam is as short as 0.2 seconds until the molten portion 21 is formed.
- the depth of the melted part is adjusted to be 1Z4 or less of the thickness of the steel member 2. The adjustment is performed by the output of the high-density energy beam and the irradiation pattern.
- the molten portion 21 is cooled at an extremely high cooling rate of 600 ° CZ seconds or longer without maintaining a high temperature state immediately after the formation of the molten portion 21.
- the cooling rate was 1 600 ° CZ seconds.
- the melted portion 21 immediately solidifies and becomes a uniform austenite structure, and then further cools down to the martensite region and becomes the martensite structure 22.
- the electron beam quenching step is performed by partially irradiating the surface treatment portion 20 of the steel member 2 with a high-density energy beam (electron beam) 11 as shown in FIG. . That is, the high-density energy beam 10 is emitted from the high-density energy beam generation source 1 and the steel member 2 is irradiated with the high-density energy beam 11 having an optimal irradiation pattern by the deflection lens 112.
- the steel member 2 is moved at a constant speed in the direction of the arrow as shown in FIG.
- the surface-treated portion 20 is rapidly heated by irradiation with the high-density energy beam 11 to become a molten portion 21, and the molten portion 21 that has been irradiated with the high-density energy beam 11 by moving the steel member 2 is rapidly cooled by self-cooling. Is done.
- the melted portion 21 is formed only on the surface layer having a depth of 1Z4 or less of the thickness of the steel member 2, and thus is self-cooled at a cooling rate of 600 ° CZ seconds or more. Therefore, the above cooling rate sufficiently exceeding the critical cooling rate of the martensitic transformation can be obtained, and the quenching failure can be reliably prevented.
- the processing time can be remarkably shortened compared with the conventional case, and the production efficiency can be improved.
- the reduced-pressure carburizing step is performed before the electron beam quenching step, a hardened layer having a very high hardness can be obtained in combination with the carburizing effect.
- the heating by the electron beam in the above heat treatment is performed on, for example, two ring-shaped surface treatment portions 20 (FIGS. 17 and 18) in the steel member 2 while rotating the steel member 2.
- it can be performed by continuously irradiating the high-density energy beams 11 and 12.
- the steel member 2 as the material to be treated has a plate shape (disk shape) like the lockup clutch piston of the torque converter component. Therefore, the ring-shaped surface treatment portion 20 can be treated at one place by two operations.
- the heat treatment apparatus includes a processing chamber 19 in which a steel member 2 is placed as shown in FIG. 18, a beam generation source 1 for irradiating the processing chamber 19 with high-density energy beams 11 and 12, and the beam generation source 1. - the vacuum exhaust device 16 for reducing the pressure inside the processing chamber 19 and the high-speed deflection control device 110 for controlling the focusing lens 111 and the deflection lens 112 are provided.
- the focusing lens 111 and the deflection lens 112 the distribution of the high-density energy beams 11 and 12 irradiated to the steel member 2, the output thereof, and the irradiation pattern are adjusted.
- a rotating motor 150 for rotating the mounting table 15 for the steel member 2 is provided in the lower part of the processing chamber 19.
- the rotary motor 150 is driven to rotate the steel member 2 in the direction of the arrow in FIG. Further, the processing chamber 19 is evacuated by the vacuum exhaust device 16.
- the steel member 2 is irradiated with two high-density energy beams 11 and 12 simultaneously.
- the high-density energy beams 11 and 12 move on the steel member 2 at a relatively constant speed by the rotation of the steel member 2! /
- the torque converter constitutes a power transmission system of an automobile or the like. As shown in FIGS. 20 and 21, a pump impeller 100, a turbine bin runner 200 that constitutes a torus together with the pump impeller 100, a stator 300, a lockup The clutch device 400 and the damper device 500 are configured.
- the rotation of the engine transmitted through a crankshaft (not shown) is transmitted to the front cover 600, and further transmitted to the pump inverter 100 fixed thereto.
- the pump impeller 100 rotates, the oil in the torus rotates around the shaft, and centrifugal force is applied to the pump impeller 100, the turbine runner 200, and the stator 30. It can be circulated between 0.
- stator 300 a one-way clutch 31 that can rotate only in a certain direction on the inner peripheral side
- the pump impeller 100 starts to rotate, such as when the vehicle starts, and the rotational speed difference from the turbine runner 200 is large, it operates as a torque change to amplify the torque.
- the turbine runner 200 increases and the rotational speed difference between the turbine runner 200 and the pump impeller 100 decreases, the turbine runner 200 operates as a single fluid coupling!
- This torque converter is provided with the lock-up clutch device 400 as described above. This is provided in order to improve fuel consumption.
- the lock-up clutch piston 41 of the lock-up clutch device 400 is actuated by switching the oil supply by a lock-up relay solenoid (not shown) and moving in the axial direction. It moves and engages with the front cover 600 via the wear material 42. For this reason, since the rotation of the engine is transmitted to the input shaft of the speed change mechanism without passing through the torque converter, fuel consumption can be improved.
- the damper device 500 attached to the torque converter is for absorbing fluctuations in the transmission torque generated when the lockup clutch piston 41 and the front cover 600 are engaged and disengaged. It is fixed to the lock-up clutch piston 41 by means of a driven plate 51 and a spring 52, 53, etc., which rotate together with the turbine runner 200!
- the spring 52 is for the first stage disposed at eight positions in the circumferential direction of the lockup clutch piston 41, and the spring 53 is in the circumferential direction of the lockup clutch piston 41.
- the springs 53 are disposed in the springs 52 one by one.
- the spring 53 is set to be smaller and shorter than the spring 52, and starts to stagnate after the torsion angle of the spring 52 reaches the set value and the transmission torque reaches the bending point torque.
- the rotation transmitted from the front cover 600 via the wear material 42 is the force transmitted to the turbine hub 700 via the damper device 500.
- the springs 52 and 53 contract. Absorbs fluctuations in transmission torque during rotation transmission. It also plays a role in preventing vibrations, noises, etc. that occur when sudden fluctuations in engine output torque are transmitted to a transmission (not shown).
- the spring 52 receives a centrifugal force and is pressed against the rising portion 412 of the lockup clutch piston 41. Therefore, when the lockup clutch piston 41 is driven forward and backward, the rising portion 412 of the lockup clutch piston 41 also slides repeatedly with the spring 52, causing wear.
- electron beam quenching is performed on the flat plate portion 411 and the rising portion 412 of the lock-up clutch piston 41 in the use environment as described above.
- FIG. 22 shows an apparatus used for the electron beam quenching process of the lock-up clutch piston 41.
- the apparatus of the present example has the same basic configuration as the apparatus shown in FIG. 18, and the mounting table 15 is inclined at 45 °. Further, the high-density energy beam 10 emitted from the beam generation source 1 is distributed to the two high-density energy beams 11 and 12 to be irradiated. Others are the same as the apparatus shown in FIG.
- the lock-up clutch piston 41 set on the mounting table 15 of the apparatus is rotated at a speed at which the moving speed of the surface treatment parts 401 and 402 is about 16.7 mZ.
- two high-density energy beams 11 12, 4.6 KW output electron beam is used and irradiated to the surface treatment parts 401 and 402 respectively.
- the normal temperature structure pearlite
- the normal temperature structure is rapidly heated to a melt by electron beam irradiation, and then solidifies by self-cooling to become austenite.
- further rapid cooling by self-cooling is performed. And transformed into a martensitic organization.
- the surface-treated portion (cured layer) 401 in the lock-up clutch piston 41 obtained in this way is composed of a total molten layer 211 having a thickness of about 0.03 mm on the outermost surface and a thickness of about 0.17 mm on the bottom thereof. It consists of a completely molten layer 212 (not shown).
- the lock-up clutch piston 41 obtained in this example has surface treatment parts (cured layers) 401 and 402 excellent in wear resistance at the sliding parts of the flat plate part 411 and the rising part 412 respectively. It will be ready. Therefore, when this lock-up clutch piston 41 is incorporated in a torque comparator, it exhibits extremely excellent durability.
- the parts other than the surface treatment parts (hardened layers) 401 and 402 have the same pearlite structure as that before the surface treatment, various plastic workings such as plastic caulking can be easily performed.
- the surface hardened layer is very thin, and the influence of the high-density energy beams 11 and 12 hardly affects the portion other than the surface-treated portion.
- the diameter shape is in a state maintained with high accuracy. Therefore, the lock-up clutch piston 41 of this example can be incorporated into the torque converter without performing a distortion removing process, and the production cost can be reduced.
- two surface treatment portions 401 and 402 can be treated simultaneously. Therefore, much higher productivity than before can be obtained. Further, since the two surface treatment parts 401 and 402 are treated in a very short time as described above, they are not affected by heat from each other.

- An electron beam is irradiated onto a region corresponding to the irradiated portions of the ruby beams 11 and 12, and the member to be processed is rotated around the central axis during the irradiation. Accordingly, the trajectory of the electron beam in the heat-treated regions 25 and 26 moves in the arrow H direction.
- the circular deflection trajectories C and C are sinusoidal deflection waveforms in the X-axis direction and the y-axis direction.
- each circular deflection trajectory C, C is cut.
- the direction waveform is superimposed.
- the electron beam is irradiated onto the heat-treated region 25 during the time t when the voltage V takes a positive value.
- the electron beam is irradiated onto the heat-treated region 26 during a time t when the voltage V takes a negative value.
- the flat plate portion 411 of the lockup clutch piston 41 is not required to have as high wear resistance as the rising portion 412. Therefore, shorten the time t of the deflection waveform w and increase the time t.
- the surface treatment portion 401 can be softened more strongly than the surface treatment portion 402. As a result, the processing time can be further shortened as much as the energy consumed for the surface treatment can be reduced.
- an electron beam is irradiated by two surface deflection trajectories C and C. That is
- Electron beams are irradiated to the heat-treated regions 27 and 28 by the respective surface deflection trajectories C and C, respectively.
- the member to be processed is rotated around its central axis. Accordingly, also in this case, the trajectory of the electron beam in the heat-treated regions 27 and 28 moves in the arrow H direction.
- Each surface deflection trajectory C, C represents the triangular wave deflection voltage in the X-axis direction and the y-axis direction.
- each surface deflection trajectory C, C is switched to be heat treated.
- the plate sliding portion in the multi-plate friction engagement device the members or the coupling by the snap ring or the like
- the present invention can be applied to any steel member that is required to harden all or part of the surface layer, such as a part, an oil pump plate, and a seal ring groove.
- the lock-up clutch piston described in Example 6 was manufactured using the three types of manufacturing methods (heat treatment methods) shown in FIG. 29, and the resulting product was used before and after heat treatment. The hardness of the cured layer was measured.
- the conventional process mainly includes five steps S11 to S15.
- Step S 11 is a step of preparing a hot rolled coil as a material
- step S 12 is a step of obtaining a lock-up clutch piston having a material shape having a desired shape by press molding.
- Step S13 is a step in which a carbonitriding / quenching process that is generally performed conventionally is applied to the lockup clutch piston.
- Step S 14 is a step of performing a distortion removing process for correcting distortion generated by the carburizing / nitriding / quenching process.
- the final step S15 is a step for performing a cutting process as a finishing cover.
- the reference process mainly includes four steps S21 to S24.
- Step S21 is a step of preparing a hot rolled coil as a material
- step S22 is a step of obtaining a lockup clutch piston having a material force desired shape by press molding.
- the process up to here is the same as the conventional process.
- Step S23 is a step of performing electron beam quenching on the hardened layer forming portion of the lockup clutch piston without performing carburizing or carbonitriding.
- step S24 is a step of cutting as a finishing cover that is performed without performing distortion removal processing.
- the process of the present invention mainly includes five steps S31 to S35.
- the depressurized carburization is performed before the electron beam quenching step S23 in the above reference process.
- a process and a vacuum slow cooling process are added. That is, step S31 Step S32 is a step of preparing a hot-rolled coil as a material, and Step S32 is a step of obtaining a lock-up clutch piston having a desired shape from the material by press molding.
- Step S33 is a step for performing the above-described reduced pressure carburizing step and reduced pressure slow cooling step of the present invention.
- Step S34 is a step of performing an electron beam quenching process on the hardened layer forming portion of the lockup clutch piston.
- step S35 is a cutting step as a finishing cover that is performed without performing the distortion removing process.
- lock-up clutch pistons were produced by the three kinds of manufacturing methods as described above, and the hardness of the cross section of the hardened layer was measured.
- the lock-up clutch piston manufactured by the above-described conventional process uses hot-rolled steel 3 ⁇ 4JIS G 3113 SAPH (hereinafter simply referred to as “SAPH”) as a material.
- SAPH hot-rolled steel 3 ⁇ 4JIS G 3113 SAPH
- the force at which the surface of the entire product becomes a hardened layer was measured at the position corresponding to the surface treatment portion 402 in FIG. 23 described above.
- the measurement results are shown in Fig. 30 as C81.
- the horizontal axis represents the distance from the surface force and the vertical axis represents the hardness (Hv).
- the reference step and the lock-up clutch piston produced by the present invention process as the material, the chemical component unit force, in the mass 0/0, C:. 0. 20 ⁇ 0 25%, Si: 0. 10 ⁇ Boron steel containing 0.25%, Mn: 0.30 to 0.60%, Cr: 0.20 to 0.40%, B: 0.303% or more (hereinafter simply referred to as “boron steel”) Is used.
- the electron beam quenching steps S23 and S34 in each process were performed so that the depth of the melted part force by electron beam irradiation was in the range of 10 m. In these steps, since a hardened layer is partially formed, the hardness at the position corresponding to the surface treatment portion 402 of FIG. 23 described above was measured.
- the hardness was measured using a micro Vickers hardness meter (50 g).
- the force that requires step S14 of the distortion removal process is essential in the conventional process, although the carburization process is performed in the process of the present invention.
- the distortion removal process can be omitted. Therefore, the heat treatment method of the present invention enables a significant process rationality as well as high hardness.
- a lock-up clutch piston was manufactured using the present invention process and the reference process in Example 7 and further using cold-rolled steel sheet JIS G 3141 SPCE (hereinafter simply referred to as “SPCE”) as a material.
- SPCE cold-rolled steel sheet JIS G 3141 SPCE
- the hardness of the cured layer was measured.
- the electron beam quenching steps S23 and S34 were performed so that the depth of the melted part force by electron beam irradiation was in the range of 10 m.
- the hardness measurement portion corresponds to the surface treatment portion 402 in FIG. 23 described above.
- the measurement result when the process of the present invention is adopted is shown in FIG. 31 as E91, and the measurement result when the reference process is adopted is shown as C91 in FIG.
- E81 and C82 in Example 7 are also shown in FIG.
- the vacuum carburization process and the vacuum slow cooling process (E81, E91) can be performed on any material without performing the electron beam quenching process. It can be seen that the effect of improving the hardness is greater than in the case of performing the quenching process (C82, C91). In particular, when the material is the above-mentioned SPCE, it has been proved that the hardness improvement effect is hardly obtained even if the electron beam quenching process is performed by omitting the vacuum carburizing process and the vacuum annealing process.
- This example is a result of a test for examining the influence of the formation depth of the melted part in the electron beam quenching process using the present invention process and the reference process in Example 7.
- the above-mentioned SPCE and the above-mentioned boron steel were used, and the melting part depth in the electron beam quenching process in the present invention process and the reference process was set to two types of 10 ⁇ m and 50 ⁇ m, respectively. Also in this example, for comparison, the hardness at the position corresponding to the surface treatment portion 402 was also measured for the lock-up clutch piston not subjected to the heat treatment immediately after step S32 in the process of the present invention.
- Reference numerals C101 to C104 are those not subjected to the heat treatment immediately after step S32, reference numerals C111 to C114 are manufactured by the reference process, and reference numerals E101 to E104 are manufactured by the process of the present invention.
- Reference numerals C101, C102, Clll, C112, E101, and E102 are made of the above-mentioned SPCE, and the other materials are made of the above-described boron steel. As can be seen from Fig.
- the effect of improving the hardness by performing only the electron beam quenching process, which is not performed prior to the carburizing process varies depending on the material. By doing so, it can be said that a significant hardness improvement effect can be obtained without causing much difference in material.
