Description
明 糸田 書 ア ン モ ニ ア 分 解 用 触 媒 技 術 分 野 本発明は、 コークス炉ガスから回収したアンモニア を、 400〜 500 °Cの低温で、 水素と窒素に分解するに適 したアンモニア分解用触媒に関する。 背 景 技 術 コ一クス炉よ り発生するガス中には、 6〜1 0 g /N m3 のアンモニアが含有されており、 これは配管の腐食を もたらすと共に、 コークス炉ガス燃焼時の N Oxの発生 原因となる こ とから、 これを除去する必要がある。 コ —クス炉ガス (以下 C O Gと記す) からアンモニアを除 去する方法と しては、 一般に CO Gを希硫酸で洗浄し、 硫安を回収する方法が採用されている。 しかしながら、 この方法は、 硫安肥料の需要が著し く減少し、 また市 場価格が大幅に低落している作今においては、 採算性 が著し く悪く、 したがって硫安製造によるアンモニア の処理方法自体が工業的にほとんど価値のないものと なっている。 現在では、 硫安製造を縮小し、 他のアン モニァ処理方法、 例えば髙純度の液安を製造する フォ
ッサム法や、 アンモニアを分離後、 直接燃焼するコ ッ パース法、 触媒の存在下で燃焼するカールスチル法等 が採用されている。 しかし、 これらの方法においても、 アンモニアの経済的処理の観点から十分満足のできる ものではないため、 種々の改善が試みられている。 ま た、 同時に新規のアンモニア処理プ nセスの開発が精 力的に推し進められている。
このような状況の中で、 本発明者らは COGから回収 したアンモニアを、 空気の存在下で接触的に燃焼させ て、 窒素と水に変換する と共に、 その燃焼によ り発生 する熱によ り、 アンモニアを接触的に分解して、 水素 を回収すること を特徵とするアンモニアの処理方法を 開発し、 先に提案した。
さて、 これまでにアンモニアの分解反応に有効な触 媒に関しては、 多く の報文が提出されており、 例えば C A T A L YS I S S cience and Techn o logy 第 1卷第 1 18頁 ( 1981年) には、 有効な触媒金属と してモリブデン、 タ ングステン、 レニウム、 鉄、 ルテニウム、 コバルト、 ロジウム、 ニッケル、 白金、 銅およびバナジウムが記 載されている。
また、 アンモニアの分解反応は、 工業的にはステン レス鎇、 ニッケル銅等の光輝焼鈍等に使用される雰囲 気ガスの製造に利用されておリ、 その触媒と しては
Fe203 -Afi203、 NiO - Si02 ·Α 03、 Pt -" z03等がある。 これらの触媒は、 500〜 1000mja/mji'hの空間速度で 500 〜 900。C、 実質的には 700〜 1200 °Cの温度で使用される。
しかし、 従来の触媒系、 すなわち Fe203— Α£203、 Ni0-Si02 ·Α£203. Pt— ΑΔ203、 Ru— Αϋζ 03にお ヽて Iま、 ア ンモ ニ ア を完全に分解するために実質的に 700〜 1200°Cの高温を必要とするため、 次のような問題点を 有している。 すなわち、
1) 反応器に耐熱材料を使用する必要がある。
2) 反応温度を高温に維持するために、 多量のエネ ルギーを消费する。
本発明は従来技術の以上のような問題を解決するた めなされたもので、 低温域でアンモニアを水素と窒素 に分解できるアンモニア分解用触媒を提供せんとする ものである。 発 明 の 開 示 そのため、 本発明者等の鋭意研鑽の結果、 アンモニ ァの触媒燃焼法とその排熱を利用 したアンモニアの触 媒分解法を組合せたプロセスにおいて、 500 °C以下の 低温域でアンモニアを効率的に分解し、 窒素と水素に 変換する こ と のでき るアンモニア分解用触媒を創案し た。
アンモニアの分解反応に対し、 ルテニウムが有効な 金属であることは既に公知であ り、 例えば J.Am.Chem. Soc.第 76卷第 4201頁 (1954年) には、 Ru— A£203が記 載されており、 また Trans.Faraday Soc.第 56卷第 144 頁 (1960年) には、 ルテニウムフィルムが記載されて いる。 これらに対し、 本発明に係る触媒の最大の特徵 は、 触媒に塩基性化合物が含有される点にあり、 これ によってルテニウムのアンモニア分解活性が著しく 向 上し、 この傾向は特に 500^以下の低温において顕著 である。
本発明に係る触媒の調製は、 ① Ru— A£203に第 3成 分と して塩基性化合物を添加するこ と、 および②担体 に塩基性化合物を使用するこ との 2種類の方法で行わ れる。
まず、 前記①の方法について説明する。 こ こで言う 塩基性化合物と しては Li20、 Na20、 K20、 Rbz0, Cs20 等のアルカ リ金属の酸化物、 またはアルカ リ金属の炭 酸塩、 水酸化物、 硝酸塩等の無機塩、 およびアルカ リ 金属の酢酸塩等の有機塩、 あるいは Mg0、 Ca0、 SrO, BaO等のアルカ リ土類金属の酸化物、 またはアルカ リ 土類金属の炭酸塩、 水酸化物、 硝酸塩等の無機塩、 お よびアルカ リ土類金属の酢酸塩等の有機塩である。 塩 基性化合物を添加する時期は、 活性金属であるルテニ
ゥムを担体のアルミナに担持する前後、 も.し く はルテ 二ゥム担持時のいずれの時期でもよい。 ルテニウムを アルミナに担持する場合に、 使用できるルテニウム化 合物の例と しては、 塩化ルテニウム、 硝酸ルテニウム、 酢酸ルテニウム等水に可溶なもの、 ルテニウムカルボ ニル (Ru3 (C0)12 ) 等有機溶媒に可溶なものなどがあ る。 塩基性化合物ならびにルテニウムの担持には通常 の含浸技術が利用できる。
触媒中のルテニウムの含有率は、 0.1〜2.0重量%が 好ま し く 、 また塩基性化合物の含有率は、 酸化物換算 で 1〜20重量%が好ま しい。
前記②の方法で担体と して使用される塩基性化合物 と しては、 アルカ リ土類金属の酸化物、 炭酸塩、 また はこれら とアルミ ナ、 シ リ カゲル、 チタニア等よ り成 る複合酸化物である。 触媒中のルテニウムの含有率は、 0,1〜2.0重量%が好ま しぃ。
上記のよう に して調製された触媒組成物は、 空気中、 90〜150。Cで約 12〜36時間乾燥される。 このあと必要 があれば常法によ り焼成してもよい。 焼成は窒素中ま たは空気中、 400〜60(TCの温度で 1〜10時間加熱して 行うのが好ま しい。
以上のよう に して調製された触媒組成物は、 アンモ ニァ分解反応を行う前に還元等の前処理を行う必要は
ない。 これはアンモニアの分解反応によって生成する 水素によ り、 触媒が徐々に還元されるためである。 し かし反応初期よ り安定した分解活性が要求される場合 には、 例えば水素気流中で 200°C以上、 好ま し く は 300 以上の温度で 1〜5時間加熱処理される。
尚、 本発明の触媒に関する追試験を以下の要領で行 つたので、 その実験結果と共に示す。
(1) 触媒の調製
水約 200ηιϋに三塩化ルテニウム (RuCj¾3 '3H20) 1.03 gおよぴ硝酸カ リ ウム 10.7 g を溶解し、 これに 20〜40 メ ッシュに整粒したアルミナ (ダイヤキヤ タ リ ス ト製、 DC— 2282) 94.5 g を投入した後、 蒸発乾固した。 つい で、 このものを空気中、 120°Cで 24時間乾燥した後、 空気中 500°Cで 4時間焼成した。 さ らに水素気流中、 400 で 3時間処理して本発明に係る触媒①を得た。
また、 硝酸カ リ ウムを使用せずにアルミナ 99.5 g を 使用し、 そのほかは同じ要領で調製して比較例⑦とな る触媒を得た。
上記触媒①とカ リ ウムの含有率の異なる触媒 (Ru— K20— Αβ203が 0.5: 2: 97.5およぴ 0.5: 10: 89.5) を使用し、 該触媒①の場合と同一の方法によ り調製し て触媒②③を得た。
また触媒①の場合とルテニウムの含有率の異なる触
媒 (Ru— K20— AJ¾203が 0.1 : 5 : 94.9および 2 : 5 : 93) を使用 し、 これを、 該触媒①の場合と同 じ方法によ り 調製して触媒④⑤を得た。
さ らに触媒①の場合とアルカ リ金属の種類が異なる 触媒 (Ru— Li20— A 03が 0.5 : 5 : 94.5, Ru-Na20- Α 03が 0.5 : 5 : 94· 5および Ru - Cs20 - 203が 0.5 : 5 : 94.5) を使用 し、 これを該触媒①の場合と 同 じ方 法によ り調製 して触媒⑥、 ⑦および⑧を得た。
また硝酸カ リ ウムの代り に硝酸カルシウムまたは硝 酸バ リ ゥムを使用 し (Ru— CaO— A£203が 0.5 : 5 : 94.5 または Ru— BaO— A£Z03が 0.5 : 5 : 94.5) 、 それ以外 は触媒①の場合と同 じ要領で触媒⑨⑩を得た。
加えて、 アルミ ナの代り に酸化マグネシウム (関東 化学製 ' 試薬特級) を用い (Ru— Κ20— MgOが 0.5 : 5 : 94.5) 、 それ以外は触媒①の場合と同じ方法で調製し、 触媒⑪を得た。
またさ らに、 水約 200mfiに硝酸鉄 (Fe(N03)3.9H20) 20.3 g を溶解し、 これにアルミ ナ 97.2 g を投入 した後、 触媒①の場合と同 じ方法によ り調製し、 比較例④とな る触媒を得た。
こ のほか、 水約 200mJUこ硝酸ニ ッ ケル (Ni(N03)3 - 6H20 ) 99.1 g を溶解し、 これにシ リ カアルミ ナ (日揮 化学製 · N631L) 80.0 g を投入 した後、 触媒①の場合
と同じ方法によ り調製し、 比較例 ®となる触媒を得た。 そして、 水約 200mJUこ塩化白金酸 (H2PtCAs ·6Η20) 0.530 g を溶解し、 これにアルミナ 99.5 g を投入した 後、 触媒①と同じ要領で調製し、 比較例 @となる触媒 を得た。
(2) アンモニア分解反応
上記の各触媒 3m£を石英製の反応管に充填し、 所定 の反応温度において、 大気圧で NH3/He比 1.0のアンモ ニァとヘリ ゥムの混合ガスを lOOmit/minの流速で流通 させ、 反応を行った。 なおこのときのアンモニア基準 の空間速度は lOOOmfi/mfi'hである。
以上の操作によ り得られた反応生成物ならびに未反 応アンモニアは、 ガスク ロマ トグラフによ り分析した。 その結果を次表に示す。
なお、 反応生成物は窒素と水素のみであ り、 またこ れらの生成速度は、 アンモニアの分解速度 (単位触媒 容積あたり、 単位時間あたり消失したアンモニアのモ ル数) に対し、 窒素では 0.5倍であ り、 また水素では 1.5倍であつた。
この表から明らかなように、 実施例の触媒①ないし
⑪は、 比較例⑦④ (¾ @に比べ、 500。C以下の低温にお いても、 高いアンモニア分解活性を有しており、 顕著 な効果があることがわかる。
以上説明した如く、 本発明に係るアンモニア分解用 触媒は、 500 °C以下の低温において、 著し く高いアン モニァ分解活性を有する等顕著な効果を有するもので ある。 産業上の利用可能性 以上のよう に、 本発明に係るアンモニア分解用触媒 は、 アンモニアを効率的に水素と窒素に分解すること ができるため、 コ一クス炉ガスから回収されたアンモ ニァを分解し、 その分解で得られた水素ガス等をもと に、 さ らにステン レス銷ゃニッケル銷等の光輝焼鈍等 に使用される雰囲気ガスを製造することができる。
Claims
(1) アルミ ナ担体上のルテニウムに塩基性化合物を添 加したアンモニア分解用触媒。
(2) 前記塩基性化合物が、 アルカ リ金属またはアル力 リ土類金属の酸化物、 炭酸塩、 水酸化物、 無機塩、 有機塩である請求の範囲第 1項記載のアンモニア 分解用触媒。
(3) 塩基性化合物を担体と し、 これにルテニウムが担 持されたアンモニア分解用触媒。
(4) 前記塩基性化合物が、 アルカ リ土類金属の酸化物、 炭酸塩またはこれら とアルミ ナ、 シ リ カゲル、 チ タニアよ りなる複合酸化物である請求の範囲第 3 項記載のアンモニア分解用触媒。
