ILLIAM J. KEEP, OF TROY, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR COOKlNG-STOVES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8,685, dated October 5, 1875; application filed September 20, 1873.
[Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, \VM. J. KEEP, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful lm n-oveinents in Design for Cooking- Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of this specification, in which is shown a perspective view of a stove constructed in accordance with my improved design.
The principal feature of my invention consists in the design of the mica windows which compose a portion of the front end of the stove, said windows having their upper ,portions made semicircular or arched, substantially as is shown.
Another feature of my invention is the design for the door which incloses the space directly in front of the fuel-chamber of the stove, which door has a general rectangular shape, its edge being surrounded by a plain molding, within which are a series of mica openings, arched at their upper ends, square at their lower ends, and surrounded by a halfround molding, and below the same a panel that contains the name of the stove, substantially as is shown.
Another part of my invention is the end door of the fuel chamber, which is distinguished by the swelled curved shape of its lower portion, substantially as is shown.
Another feature of my invention is the de sign for the oven-door, which has a bulging panel surrounded by a narrow line of ornamen al molding, outside of which is a plane strip, and without the latter a plain molding, which extends to the edge of said door, substantially as is shown.
Another part of my invention is the design for the central portion of the panel of the oven-door, and consists in an incised ornament, substantially as is shown.
Another feature of my invention is the design for the extended rear portion of the stove, which extended part extends outward and rearward upon curved and straight lines, and has upon each end, at its lower portion, a rectangular panel, which forms the door of the warming-closet, and above the same a similar but smaller panel that is opposite to the end of the water-reservoir, substantially as is shown.
Another portion of my invention is the de- Sign for the upper outer edge of the reservoir, which consists in two lines of plain molding, separated by a line of corrugated or ornamental molding, substantially as is shown.
Another part of my invention is the design for the raised portion of the side plate between the front side of the oven-door and the ashpit, which portion is preferably formed upon stralght lines, and has a plane surface.
Another and the last portion of my invention is the design for the whole stove, which consists, generally, in the combination of the several features hereinbefore described with each other and with the other parts of said stove. substantially as shown.
ll aving thus fully set forth the nature and merits of my invention, what I claim as new,
1. The design for the mica windows, situated at the front side of the fuel-chamber, sub stantially as shown and described.
2. The design for the door which incloses the space in front of the fuel-chamber, sulr stantially as shown and described.
3. The design for the door which incloses the. end of the fuel-chamber, substantially as shown and described.
at. The design for the oven-door, substantially as shown and described.
5. The design for the central portion of the panel of the oven-door, substantially as shown and described.
6. The design for the extended rear portion, which contains the warming-closet and waterreservoir, substantially as shown and described.
7. The design for the upper outer edge of the water-reservoir, substantially as shown and described.
8. The design for the raised portion of the side plate, substantially as shown and described.
9. The design for the whole stove, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 18th day of September, 1873.
