OESlGN FOR FIRE-PLACE HEATERS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8,904, dated January 11, 1876; application filed January 3, 1876. {Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, JAMES A. Lawson, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and in the State of Xew York, have invented a certain new and original Des gn for l ire-Pla-ce Heaters; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, refi-rence being had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of this specification, in which is shown a perspective view of a. heater constructed in accordance with my improved design.
The principal feature of my invention consists in the design of the basc-plate A, which has its edge molded, and within said molding has a series of openings, or a, &c., substantially as is shown.
Another feature of my invention consists in the design for the top base-plate B, which has a square front edge, I), and upon its upper surface is provided .with incised ornaments b and b, substantially as is shown.
Another part of my invention is the design for the base of the heater in front of the side pipes, which base consists of the horizontal plates A and 13, and vertical plates 0 and 0, arranged to form an offset or forward extension of the ash pit, substantially as is shown.
Another feature of my invention consists in the design for the door D, which iucloses the front opening of the ash-pit, said door having such shape as to cause it. to extend vertically between the plates A and B, and horizontally outward upon said plate A, and being provided, upon its vertical portion, with incised ornaments d and d, substantially as is shown.
Another part of my invention consists in the design for the door E, which rests upon the extended portion of the plate B, and at its inner side extends upward against the firepot section, is provided with draft-openings e and c, has incised ornaments c and 6' upon its upper face, and an ornamental fiilet or head, 6, at the point where its horizontaland vertical portions meet, substantially as is shown.
Another feature of my invention is the de sign for the tire-pot section, which consists in a lower and an upper horizontal molding, F and G. respectively, between which are three upward and inward inclining mica doors, H, H, and H, separated by vertical bars h and h, substantially as is shown.
Another part of my invention is the design for the combustion-chamber section, which is composed of the horizontal molding G at its lower end, a horizontal upward and out ward curving molding, I, at its upper end, and three vertical mica. doors, K, K, and K, placed between said moldings and separated by vertical bars in and k, substantially as is shown.
Another feature of my invention is the design for the top plate L, which from its edge has a. general inward and upward inclination for a. short distance, is dome-shaped at its center, extends laterally outward over the side pipesM and M, and is provided with a number of horizontal bands of plain or figured molding, i, l, l, i, 1", l, and l'', substantially as is shown.
Another, and the last, portion of my invention is the design for the whole heater, which consists, generally, in the combination of the several features hereinbefore described with each other and with the other parts of said stove, substantially as is shown.
Having thus fully set forth the nature and merits of my invention, what I claim as new is-- 1. lfhe design for the basepiate A, substantially as shown and described.
2. The design for the top base-plate B, substantially as shown and described.
3. The design for the base A, B, C, and C, substantially as shown and described.
4. The design for the door D, which incloses the front of the ash-pit, substantially as shown and described.
5. The design for the door E, which inc-loses the upper opening into the ash-pit, substantially as shown and described.
6. The design for the fire-pot section, composed of the parts F, G, H, and H, substantially as shown and described.
7. The design for the combustion-chamber section, composed of the parts G, I, K, and K, substantially as shown and described.
8. The design for the top plate L, substantially as shown and described.
9. The design for the whole heater, substantially as shown and described.
