DESIGN.
H. A. WBIHMAN. CANE 0R UMBRELLA HANDLE.
Patented July 1, 1890.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY A. \VEIHMAN, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO SIMONS, BROTHER 8: CO., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A CANE OR UMBRELLA HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,993, dated July 1, 1890. Application filed Apr-i115, 1890. Serial No. 348,093. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY A. WEIHMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Cane or Umbrella Handles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
In the drawing is shown a side elevation of a cane or umbrella handle illustrating my new design.
A is the body part, and is made like the inverted frustrum of a cone, being larger at the top, and is surmounted by a curved cap B, having aplain surface. The body part terminates at the bottom in an annular band C of plain surface, and is ornamented by spiral bands D and E, the former being made with a plain surface and disjointed, as shown, and the latter being made of highly-ornamented portions, forming a strong contrast between the adjacent spiral bands. Both the bands D and E are depressed or slightly grooved, though this may be confined to the bands D. The handle is made of any suitable material.
Having now described my new design, what I claim as new, and desireto secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for cane or umbrella handles, substantially as herein described and shown. In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
HENRY A. VVEIHMAN. Witnesses:
ERNEST HOWARD HUNTER, A. J. DUNN.
