[raven tor Witnesses m UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY O. SCHMIDT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO SIMONS, BROTHER & (30., OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A CANE OR UMBRELLA HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,984, dated July 1, 1890. Application filed April 15, 1890. Serial No.348,115. Term of patent 8% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY O. SCHMIDT, a citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the county and State of New York,
have invented and produced a new and original Design for Cane or Umbrella Handles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing,
forming part thereof.
10 In the drawing is shown a side elevation of a cane or umbrella handle illustrating my new design.
A is the body portion, and swells out at the upper part, as at B, and is mounted with a l 5 rounded cap B, surmounting an annular band C, which cap B and band 0 are plain. Below the body part A is an annular band E, suitably ornamented, and below this band is a base portion F, formed to act as a continuation of the body part below the band E. Be-
low this base part F is a band Gr, of the shape shown, and terminating at the bottom in a band H, suitably ornamented, and having the portion immediatelyabove made plain. The body part and portion F are relieved by the ornamental work I and K, the upper part of the portions I being formed like leaves J, and the background is ornamented by shaded work L.
The handle is made of any suitable mate- 3o rial.
Having now described my new design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for cane or umbrella handles, substantially as herein described and shown.
In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
HENRY 0. SCHMIDT. Witnesses:
