Abstract

Det beskrives en fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av et lavmolekylært, høyreaktivt polyisobuten som har en midlere molekylvekt M på 500-20.000 dalton, og som inneholder mer enn 80 mol% endestående dobbeltbindinger. For dette formål polymeriseres isobuten eller isobutenholdige hydrokarbon- strømmer i en flytende fase med en bortrifluorid-kompleks- katalysator ved temperaturer fra -40°C til 0°C og trykk fra l til 20 bar. Polymerisasjonsreaksjonen utføres i minst to polymerisasjonstrinn. I første polymerisasjonstrinn poly- meriseres opp til 95% av det tilførte isobuten. Det således oppnådde polyisobuten separeres deretter eller ikke, og det gjenværende isobuten polymeriseres i ett eller flere poly- merisasjonstrinn.
