Abstract
Se describen las composiciones de asfalto que comprenden asfalto recuperado y un agente regenerador. El asfalto recuperado comprende un aditivo y un aglutinante consumido. El agente regenerador, que tiene un contenido cíclico de por lo menos 5% en peso, comprende un éster o una mezcla de ésteres derivados de un ácido seleccionado de ácidos aromáticos, ácidos grasos, monómeros de ácido graso, dímeros de ácido graso, trímeros de ácido graso, ácidos de colofonia, dímeros de ácido de colofonia, y mezclas de los mismos. El agente regenerador fortalece el aglutinante de betún consumido del asfalto recuperado y restaura sus propiedades físicas a aquellas del betún de grado de rendimiento original. Las mejoras incluyen el ablandamiento deseable, la resistencia al agrietamiento a baja temperatura, una mejor resistencia al agrietamiento por fatiga, el buen rendimiento a alta temperatura, la miscibilidad mejorada, y la sensibilidad restaurada a la temperatura. Los agentes regenerados permiten el uso de mayores niveles de asfalto recuperado, particularmente RAP, en las mezclas de asfalto, reducen el costo de aglutinantes y aditivos, y ayudan a la industria de la construcción de carreteras a reducir su dependencia de los materiales no renovables sin usar.
