Abstract
Se da a conocer un método para la determinación de la presencia o ausencia de riesgo de glaucoma, el cual comprende los pasos que consisten en: detectar in vitro un alelo y/o un genotipo de un polimorfismo de un solo nucleótido que se presenta en la posición-31 en por lo menos una secuencia de nucleótidos seleccionada del grupo que consiste de las secuencias de nucleótidos representadas en las SEQ ID NOs: 203-752 o una secuencia de nucleótidos complementaria para por lo menos la secuencia de nucleótidos en una muestra recolectada de un sujeto (paso A); y comparar el alelo y/o el genotipo detectado en el paso A con por lo menos un alelo y/o genotipo que contiene un alelo de alto riesgo en una secuencia de nucleótidos representada en cualquiera de las SEQ ID NOs: 203-752 (paso B). El nivel de riesgo del avance de glaucoma en un donador de una muestra se puede determinar al analizar el alelo o genotipo del polimorfismo de un solo nucleótido en la muestra por medio del método. Con base en el nivel de riesgo, el donador puede adoptar una medida preventiva para el glaucoma o recibir un tratamiento apropiado para el glaucoma.
