Abstract

필드 메모리 등을 이용하지 않고 화소 전압을 보정하여 잔상이 없는 고화질로 표시할 수 있는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
액정 용량에 1필드 전의 표시 신호에 따라서 유지된 전하에 의한 전압을 다음 필드에서 보조 용량을 거쳐 보정함으로써, 필드 메모리 없이 액정에 가해지는 전압을 동화상에 의한 전압 변화분을 강조하도록 보정하는 보정 전압 발생 회로(26)를 이용하여 구성된다.

Claims (6)

  1. 액티브상으로 배열된 화소 마다 액정 용량에 병렬로 배치된 보조 용량을 갖는 액정 표시 장치에 있어서, 액정이 정의 유전 이방성을 가질 때에 정극성에서 구동하는 경우 및 액정이부의 유전 이방성을 가질 때에 부극성에서 구동하는 경우에는, 각각 화소의 관통 전압보다 상기 보조 용량을 거쳐 보정되는 정극 전압 쪽을 크게 설정하는 수단을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 정극성에서 구동할 때의 상기 보정 전압을 가한 후의 화소 전압과 부극성에서 구동한 경우 상기 보정 전압을 가한 후의 화소 전압이 거의 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 정극성에서 구동할 때의 상기 보정 전압을 가한 후의 화소 전압과 부극성에서 구동한 경우의 상기 보정 전압을 가한 후의 화소 전압이 각각 입력시의 값보다 큰 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치.
  4. 매트릭스상으로 배열된 화소마다 액정 용량에 병렬로 배치된 보조 용량을 갖는 액정 표시 장치에 있어서, 정극성에서 구동하는 경우 및 부극성에서 구동하는 경우, 액정의 유전 이방성에 상관 없이 보조 용량을 거쳐 보정되는 보정 전압의 절대치를 다르게 설정하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 정극성에서 구동할 때의 상기 보정 전압을 가한 후의 화소 전압과 부극성에서 구동한 경우 상기 보정 전압을 가한 후의 화소 전압이 거의 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치.
  6. 제4항에 있어서, 정극성에서 구동할 때의 상기 보정 전압을 가한 후의 화소 전압과 부극성에서 구동한 경우 상기 보정 전압을 가한 후의 화소 전압이 각각 입력시의 값보다 큰 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치.
