본 발명은 지갑 카드(wallet card)에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 광원이 내장된 신용 카드와 같은 지갑 카드에 관한 것이다.
이전에 등록된 공동 소유의 특허(즉, 미국특허공보 제5,412,199호, 제5,434,405호, 제5,608,203호, 제5,856,661호 및 제6,176,430호)는 구성요소로서 확대 렌즈를 갖는 지갑 카드 및 이러한 카드를 제조하는 방법을 개시하고 있다. 이들 특허의 개시는 본 명세서에 참조로서 포함된다. 이러한 지갑 카드는 판매 영수증 등과 같은 인쇄된 정보를 확대하고, 판독하기에 편리하다. 종종, 이러한 카드의 사용자는 낮은 밝기의 상황에서 정보를 판독하기를 희망할 것이다. 이것을 용이하게 하기 위해, 확대 렌즈에 근접한 조명원을 갖는 것이 바람직하다. 확대 렌즈가 없더라도, 조명원을 포함한 지갑 카드를 갖는 것이 바람직한 다수의 상황이 존재한다.

본 발명은 얇고, 평평하며, 실질적으로 강성인 기판 및 그 기판 내부에 배치된 조명원을 포함하는 금융관계 거래 카드를 제공한다. 전류원이 조명원에 결합되고, 스위치는 전류원과 조명원 사이의 전기 회로를 선택적으로 차단하도록 제공된다. 금융관계 거래 카드에 대해 통상적인 것으로서, 기판 상에는 양각 영숫자 표시(embossed alphanumeric indicia)가 포함된다.

광원(410)의 동작을 제어하기 위해, 스위치(412)와 같은 스위치가 카드(400) 상의 편리한 위치에 배치된다. 스위치(412)는 카드(400)가 엄지 손가락과 집게 손가락 사이에 유지될 때 손가락 압력에 의해 시동될 수도 있는 압력-감지식 스위치인 것이 바람직하다.

코어 부재(420) 및/또는 코어 부재(434)에 대한 순수 플라스틱 재료의 사용은 LED(410)에 대한 시준 렌즈(collimating lens)의 형성을 허용한다. LED는 통상적으로 넓은 각도로 광선을 분산시킨다. 시준 렌즈는 카드(400)가 보다 효과적인 조명원이 되도록 좁은 각도로 광선을 집중시킨다. 시준 렌즈는 확대 렌즈와 동일 방식으로 형성될 수도 있다. 그러나, LED(410)에 대한 시준 렌즈의 일체화는 확대 렌즈가 또한 카드(400) 내에 포함되는 것을 필요로 하지는 않다고 이해될 것이다.

Claims (20)

  1. 얇고 평평하며 실질적으로 강성인 기판;

    상기 조명원에 결합된 전류원;
    상기 전류원과 상기 조명원 사이의 전기 회로를 선택적으로 차단하기 위한 스위치; 및
    양각 영숫자 표시(embossed alphanumeric indicia)
    를 포함하는 지갑 카드.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 조명원은 발광 다이오드를 포함하는
    지갑 카드.
  3. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 스위치는 상기 기판 상에 배치된 압력-감지식 스위치를 포함하는
    지갑 카드.
  4. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 조명원에 인접하여 상기 기판 내부에 배치된 확대 렌즈
    를 더 포함하는 지갑 카드.
  5. 제4항에 있어서,
    기계 판독가능 정보를 지니기 위해, 상기 기판 상에 부착된 스트립
    을 더 포함하는 지갑 카드.
  6. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 지갑 카드는 금융관계 거래 카드(financial transaction card)인
    지갑 카드.
  7. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 양각 영숫자 표시는 금융관계 거래 계좌 번호를 포함하는
    지갑 카드.
  8. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 조명원에 의해 방출된 광선을 시준하기 위해, 상기 기판 내부에 배치된 시준 렌즈
    를 더 포함하는 지갑 카드.
  9. 광원을 포함하는 지갑 카드를 제조하는 방법에 있어서,
    제1 코어 부재의 제1 표면 상에 제1 거래 카드 그래픽을 인쇄하는 단계;
    상기 제1 코어 부재의 상기 제1 표면에 제1 오버레이를 적층하는 단계;
    상기 제1 코어 부재의 제2 표면 내에 공동(cavity)의 경로를 정하는 단계;
    상기 공동 내에 광원을 설치하는 단계;
    상기 공동을 충전하는 단계;
    제2 코어 부재의 제1 표면 상에 제2 거래 카드 그래픽을 인쇄하는 단계;
    상기 제2 코어 부재의 상기 제1 표면에 제2 오버레이를 적층하는 단계; 및
    상기 제1 코어 부재의 상기 제2 표면을 상기 제2 코어 부재의 제2 표면에 고정시키는 단계
    를 포함하는 방법.
  10. 제9항에 있어서,
    상기 제1 및 제2 코어 부재는 각각의 시트 상에 배치되고, 각 시트는 복수의 코어 부재를 포함하는
    방법.
  11. 제9항에 있어서,
    상기 광원은 발광 다이오드를 포함하는
    방법.
  12. 제9항에 있어서,
    상기 제1 코어 부재는 접착제를 이용하여 상기 제2 코어 부재에 고정되는
    방법.
  13. 제9항에 있어서,
    상기 제1 코어 부재는 상기 제2 코어 부재에 적층되는
