前記目的を達成するための本発明の要旨とするところは、(a)エンジンと、そのエンジンと駆動輪との間の動力伝達経路の一部を構成する流体伝動装置と、電動機とを備えた車両用駆動装置であって、(b)前記エンジンと前記流体伝動装置とが一軸心まわりに回転するように配設されており、(c)前記電動機は、その一軸心とは異なる回転軸心を有して配設され、且つ、前記エンジンからの駆動力が入力されその一軸心まわりに回転可能な前記流体伝動装置の入力側回転要素に連結されており、(d)前記電動機は、前記入力側回転要素に対し相対回転不能に連結された電動機連結用回転要素を介してその入力側回転要素に連結され、(e)前記流体伝動装置の入力側回転要素によって回転駆動される油圧ポンプは、その油圧ポンプのロータが前記一軸心まわりに回転するように配設されており、(f)前記入力側回転要素に対する前記電動機連結用回転要素の連結部は、前記入力側回転要素を前記ロータに連結するために前記油圧ポンプのポンプカバーの径方向内側に設けられたポンプカバー貫通穴内にその入力側回転要素の一部と共に挿入され、そのポンプカバー貫通穴内でその入力側回転要素と相対回転不能に連結されていることにある。

このようにすれば、エンジンと流体伝動装置と電動機とが前記一軸心まわりに回転するように配設される場合、すなわち、そのエンジンと流体伝動装置と電動機とが直列に配設される場合と比較して、車両用駆動装置の軸方向全長を短くすることができる。そのため、例えばFF型のエンジンが横置きにされる車両で、車幅の制約によってエンジンと流体伝動装置と電動機とを直列に配設することが困難な場合においても、上記軸方向全長が短い前記車両用駆動装置であればその車両に搭載することが容易になる。
また、上記油圧ポンプのロータが上記一軸心まわりに回転するように配設されているので、その油圧ポンプが例えば流体伝動装置等と全く異なる軸心上に配設される場合と比較して、前記流体伝動装置や上記一軸心上の軸受等と上記油圧ポンプとの間の管路を短くすることが可能である。そのため、その管路の流体抵抗を低減し、燃費悪化を防止できる。

ここで、好適には、(a)前記電動機は、前記入力側回転要素に対し相対回転不能に連結された電動機連結用回転要素を介してその入力側回転要素に連結され、(b)前記流体伝動装置の入力側回転要素によって回転駆動される油圧ポンプは、その油圧ポンプのロータが前記一軸心まわりに回転するように配設されており、(c)前記電動機連結用回転要素を非回転部材に対して回転可能に支持するその電動機連結用回転要素の支持部は、前記油圧ポンプのポンプカバーに対し、前記一軸心と直交する方向に重ねて設けられてい
る。このようにすれば、上記支持部を上記ポンプカバーに対し前記一軸心と直交する方向に重ねない場合と比較して、車両用駆動装置の軸方向全長を短くすることができる。また、上記油圧ポンプのロータが上記一軸心まわりに回転するように配設されているので、その油圧ポンプが例えば流体伝動装置等と全く異なる軸心上に配設される場合と比較して、その油圧ポンプからの油圧供給先たとえば前記流体伝動装置や上記一軸心上の軸受等と上記油圧ポンプとの間の管路を短くすることが可能である。そのため、その管路の流体抵抗を低減し、燃費悪化を防止できる。

また、好適には、前記電動機連結用回転要素の前記入力側回転要素に対する連結部は、前記油圧ポンプのポンプカバーに対し、前記一軸心と直交する方向に重ねて設けられている。このようにすれば、上記連結部を上記ポンプカバーに対し前記一軸心と直交する方向に重ねない場合と比較して、車両用駆動装置の軸方向全長を短くすることができる。

また、好適には、(a)前記電動機連結用回転要素は、前記電動機からの駆動力を前記入力側回転要素に伝達するための外周歯を備えており、(b)その外周歯は、前記支持部とその電動機連結用回転要素の前記入力側回転要素に対する連結部とに対し、前記一軸心と直交する方向に重ねて設けられている。このようにすれば、上記電動機連結用回転要素の上記一軸心方向の長さを短くすることができ、その結果として、車両用駆動装置の軸方向全長を

- エンジンと、該エンジンと駆動輪との間の動力伝達経路の一部を構成する流体伝動装置と、電動機とを備えた車両用駆動装置であって、
前記エンジンと前記流体伝動装置とが一軸心まわりに回転するように配設されており、
前記電動機は、該一軸心とは異なる回転軸心を有して配設され、且つ、前記エンジンからの駆動力が入力され該一軸心まわりに回転可能な前記流体伝動装置の入力側回転要素に連結されている
ことを特徴とする車両用駆動装置。 - 前記電動機は、前記入力側回転要素に対し相対回転不能に連結された電動機連結用回転要素を介して該入力側回転要素に連結され、
前記流体伝動装置の入力側回転要素によって回転駆動される油圧ポンプは、該油圧ポンプのロータが前記一軸心まわりに回転するように配設されており、
前記電動機連結用回転要素を非回転部材に対して回転可能に支持する該電動機連結用回転要素の支持部は、前記油圧ポンプのポンプカバーに対し、前記一軸心と直交する方向に重ねて設けられている
