本発明の種々の態様は、ハウジング及びハウジング内のポンプチャンバ内で回転するインペラを含む血液ポンプを動作させる方法であって、インペラをポンプチャンバ内で回転させることであって、インペラがポンプチャンバの第1の端にある第1の軸受、及び、ポンプチャンバの第2の端にある第2の軸受によってポンプチャンバ内で懸垂されることと、インペラをポンプチャンバ内で軸方向に移動させることによって、第1の軸受によって画定される第1の血液ギャップを増大させるとともに第2の軸受によって画定される第2の血液ギャップを低減させることとを含む方法に関する。
本明細書において用いられる場合、「ギャップ」は概して、当業者によって理解されるように、インペラの周りの二次的な流れギャップを指す。一次的な流れは、インペラブレード領域を通る。二次的な流れギャップは、概ねインペラの周りの他の流体のエリアである。幾つかの点で、二次的な流れギャップは、インペラとハウジング壁との間であり、動圧軸受を画定する。

Claims (13)
- 血液ポンプであって、
ハウジング内に配置されるインペラと、
ステータと、
前記ステータに電気的に接続されるコントローラとを備え、
前記コントローラは、
前記インペラの回転の開始前に、前記ステータに供給されるステータコイル磁束電流を調整することで、前記インペラの面が前記ハウジングの第1の内壁と当接する休止位置から、前記インペラが前記ハウジングの内壁から離れた第1の均衡のとれた位置へと、前記インペラを軸方向に移動させ、
前記インペラを前記第1の均衡のとれた位置へと移動させてから、前記ハウジング内で前記インペラを回転させるために、前記ステータにトルク電流を供給し、
前記第1の均衡のとれた位置から第2の均衡のとれた位置へと、前記インペラを軸方向に移動させるとともに、前記インペラの位置を前記第1の均衡のとれた位置と前記第2の均衡のとれた位置との間で交互に変更する、ように構成され、
前記インペラが前記各均衡のとれた位置において費やす時間の量は、それぞれの均衡のとれた位置における前記インペラと前記ハウジングの前記内壁との間のギャップのサイズに反比例する、血液ポンプ。 - 請求項1に記載の血液ポンプにおいて、
前記第1の内壁は、前記ハウジングの入口側を含む、血液ポンプ。 - 請求項1に記載の血液ポンプにおいて、
前記ハウジングの前記第1の内壁及び第2の内壁は、前記インペラに面する動圧溝をそれぞれ形成している、血液ポンプ。 - 請求項1に記載の血液ポンプにおいて、
前記インペラは、1又は複数の動圧溝を形成している、血液ポンプ。 - 請求項1に記載の血液ポンプにおいて、
前記ステータコイル磁束電流は、前記インペラの軸方向の位置を制御する磁力を生成する、血液ポンプ。 - 請求項1に記載の血液ポンプは、更に、
前記インペラの軸方向の位置を監視する1又は複数のセンサを備え、
前記コントローラは、更に、前記1又は複数のセンサによる測定に基づき、前記ステータコイル磁束電流を調整するように構成されている、血液ポンプ。 - 血液ポンプを動作させる方法であって、
前記血液ポンプのコントローラが、前記血液ポンプのインペラの回転の開始前に、前記血液ポンプのステータに供給されるステータコイル磁束電流を調整することで、前記インペラの面が前記血液ポンプのハウジングの第1の内壁と当接する休止位置から、前記インペラが前記ハウジングの内壁から離れた第1の均衡のとれた位置へと、前記インペラを軸方向に移動させることと、
前記コントローラが、前記インペラを前記第1の均衡のとれた位置へと移動させてから、前記ハウジング内で前記インペラを回転させるために、前記ステータにトルク電流を供給することと、
前記コントローラが、前記第1の均衡のとれた位置から第2の均衡のとれた位置へと、前記インペラを軸方向に移動させるとともに、前記インペラの位置を前記第1の均衡のとれた位置と前記第2の均衡のとれた位置との間で交互に変更することと、を含み、
前記インペラが前記各均衡のとれた位置において費やす時間の量は、それぞれの均衡のとれた位置における前記インペラと前記ハウジングの前記内壁との間のギャップのサイズに反比例する、方法。 - 請求項7に記載の血液ポンプを動作させる方法において、
トルク電流及びステータコイル磁束電流は、独立して制御される、方法。 - 請求項7に記載の血液ポンプを動作させる方法において、
前記ステータコイル磁束電流を調整することは、前記コントローラが前記ステータに供給される相電圧の転流角を変更することを含む、方法。 - 請求項7に記載の血液ポンプを動作させる方法において、
前記ハウジングの前記第1の内壁及び第2の内壁は、前記インペラに面する動圧溝をそれぞれ形成している、方法。 - 請求項7に記載の血液ポンプを動作させる方法において、
前記インペラは、1又は複数の動圧溝を形成している、方法。 - 請求項7に記載の血液ポンプを動作させる方法において、
