Description
ここで、上記UV照射は1次UV照射ステップ、常温放置ステップ、及び2次UV照射ステップを含む。1次UV照射ステップは、アクリル系モノマーを相分離させるための工程であって、1から20mWの照度で5から60分間UVを照射して遂行される。この際、UV照射のためのランプは公知のUVランプを使用し、かつ好ましくは、水銀ランプを使用する。また、UV照射時、照度は1から20mWで遂行される。ここで、照度が1mW以上であれば、相分離が起こって硬化する時間を短縮させることができ、照度が20mW以下であれば、相分離される前に硬化が起こってパターン性が低下することを防止することができる。
常温放置ステップは、1次UV照射ステップが終わった後、アクリル系モノマーの相分離と硬化が続けて起こるように放置する工程である。この際、放置時間は60から200分間遂行できる。ここで、放置時間が60分以上であれば、隔壁のパターン性を向上させ、放置時間が200分以下であれば、モノマー同士丸く固まることを防止することができる。
2次UV照射ステップはアクリル系モノマーの硬化を完了させる工程であって、50から1500mWの照度で1から20分間遂行される。2次UV照射ステップでも水銀ランプを使用することが好ましい。ここで、2次UV照射時間は1から20分間遂行されるが、1分以上であれば、硬化されず、液晶層に存在する残留モノマーを減少させることができ、20分以下であれば、モノマーを完全硬化させ、タクトタイム(tact time)を減らすことができる。この際、2次UV照射ステップで温度は60度以下に維持してモノマーが熱により損傷されて隔壁が変形されることを防止する。

イソボニルアクリレート(isobornyl acrylate)またはイソボニルメタアクリレート(isobornyl methacrylate)を含むアクリル系モノマーグループ(A)と下式:
で表される3,3,5トリメチルシクロヘキサノールアクリレート(3,3,5 trimethyl cyclohexanol acrylate)を含むアクリル系モノマーグループ(B)とを含むアクリル系モノマーと、
光開始剤と、
を含むことを特徴とする、液晶高分子組成物。 - 前記液晶とアクリル系モノマーとの含量割合は8:2から9:1であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の液晶高分子組成物。
- 前記アクリル系モノマーのうち、前記環状構造を含むアクリル系モノマーグループ(A)と鎖状構造またはシクロヘキサノールを含むアクリル系モノマーグループ(B)との含量割合は8:2から9:1であることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の液晶高分子組成物。
- 前記アクリル系モノマーと前記光開始剤との含量割合は7:3から9:1であることを特徴とする、請求項3に記載の液晶高分子組成物。

- 薄膜トランジスタアレイ基板とカラーフィルタアレイ基板との間に介された液晶層を含む液晶表示装置であって、
前記液晶層の内に位置し、かつ前記薄膜トランジスタアレイ基板とカラーフィルタアレイ基板との間を支持する隔壁を含み、
前記隔壁は、請求項1から請求項5の何れか一項に記載の液晶高分子組成物のアクリル系モノマーが硬化したものからなることを特徴とする、液晶表示装置。 - 前記薄膜トランジスタアレイ基板は、
薄膜トランジスタを保護する有機絶縁膜と、
前記有機絶縁膜の上に位置する画素電極と、
前記画素電極の上に位置するパッシベーション膜と、
前記パッシベーション膜の上に位置する共通電極と、
をさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記隔壁は、前記パッシベーション膜に形成された少なくとも1つの溝を詰めるように位置することを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記カラーフィルタアレイ基板は、ブラックマトリックスとカラーフィルタを覆うオーバーコート層をさらに含み、
前記隔壁は、前記オーバーコート層に形成された少なくとも1つの溝を詰めるように位置することを特徴とする、請求項8に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記パッシベーション膜に形成された少なくとも1つの溝はゲートラインと対応するように位置することを特徴とする、請求項8に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 薄膜トランジスタアレイ基板とカラーフィルタアレイ基板と合着してセルを形成するステップと、
液晶、イソボニルアクリレート(isobornyl acrylate)またはイソボニルメタアクリレート(isobornyl methacrylate)を含むアクリル系モノマーグループ(A)と下式:
で表される3,3,5トリメチルシクロヘキサノールアクリレート(3,3,5 trimethyl cyclohexanol acrylate)を含むアクリル系モノマーグループ(B)とを含むアクリル系モノマー、及び光開始剤を含む液晶高分子組成物を前記セルに注入するステップと、
前記セルにUVを照射して前記アクリル系モノマーを硬化させて隔壁を形成するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする、液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記セルにUVを照射するステップは、1次UV照射ステップ、常温放置ステップ、及び2次UV照射ステップを含むことを特徴とする、請求項11に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記1次UV照射ステップにおいて、照度は1から20mWであり、照射時間は5から60分であることを特徴とする、請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記常温放置ステップは、前記セルを常温で60から200分間放置することを特徴とする、請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記2次UV照射ステップにおいて、照度は50から1500mWであり、照射時間は1から20分であることを特徴とする、請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記2次UV照射ステップにおいて、温度は60度以下であることを特徴とする、請求項15に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記薄膜トランジスタアレイ基板は、
下部基板の上に薄膜トランジスタを形成するステップと、
前記薄膜トランジスタの上に有機絶縁膜を形成するステップと、
前記有機絶縁膜をパターニングしてコンタクトホール及び少なくとも1つの第1溝を形成するステップと、
前記有機絶縁膜の上に画素電極を形成するステップと、
前記有機絶縁膜及び前記画素電極の上にパッシベーション膜を形成して前記少なくとも1つの第1溝に対応する少なくとも1つの第2溝を形成するステップと、
前記パッシベーション膜の上に共通電極を形成するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする、請求項11に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記隔壁は、前記パッシベーション膜に形成された少なくとも1つの第2溝を詰めるように位置することを特徴とする、請求項17に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記カラーフィルタアレイ基板は、
上部基板の上にブラックマトリックスとカラーフィルタを形成するステップと、
前記ブラックマトリックスとカラーフィルタの上にオーバーコート層を形成するステップと、
前記オーバーコート層をパターニングして少なくとも1つの第3溝を形成するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする、請求項17に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記隔壁は、前記オーバーコート層に形成された少なくとも1つの第3溝を詰めるように位置することを特徴とする、請求項19に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つの第1溝及び第2溝は、ゲートラインと対応するように位置することを特徴とする、請求項18に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
