Description
本実施の形態では、液晶表示装置について説明するための概念図、液晶表示装置のブロック図、及び液晶素子の透過率と印加する電圧の関係図について示し、説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の液晶表示装置、及び低消費電力化を図ることができる液晶表示装置の一形態を、図7乃至図10を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本明細書に開示する液晶表示装置に適用できるトランジスタの例を示す。
トランジスタを作製し、該トランジスタを画素部、さらには駆動回路に用いて表示機能を有する液晶表示装置を作製することができる。また、トランジスタを用いた駆動回路の一部または全体を、画素部と同じ基板上に一体形成し、システムオンパネルを形成することができる。
本実施の形態では、上記実施の形態で示す液晶表示装置において、タッチパネル機能を付加した液晶表示装置の構成について、図14(A)、(B)を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態においては、上記実施の形態で説明した液晶表示装置を具備する電子機器の例について説明する。

Claims (5)
- 駆動回路と、表示部と、タイミングコントローラと、を有し、
前記駆動回路は、ゲート線駆動回路と、ソース線駆動回路と、を有し、
前記表示部は、液晶と、トランジスタと、を有し、
前記トランジスタは、キャリア濃度が1×10 14 /cm 3 未満である酸化物半導体層にチャネル形成領域を有し、
前記トランジスタのチャネル幅1μmあたりのオフ電流は、1×10 −17 A/μm以下であり、
前記タイミングコントローラには、画像信号が入力され、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記ゲート線駆動回路に供給するスタートパルス、クロック信号及び電源電圧を前記駆動回路に供給する機能を有し、
前記表示部に表示される画像が動画から静止画に切り替わる期間において、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記スタートパルスの前記駆動回路への供給を停止し、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記スタートパルスの前記駆動回路への供給を停止した後に、前記クロック信号の前記駆動回路への供給を停止し、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記クロック信号の前記駆動回路への供給を停止した後に、前記電源電圧を低くし、
前記表示部に表示される画像が静止画から動画に切り替わる期間において、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記電源電圧を高くし、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記電源電圧を高くした後に、前記クロック信号の前記駆動回路への供給を開始し、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記クロック信号の前記駆動回路への供給を開始した後に、前記スタートパルスの前記駆動回路への供給を開始することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記液晶は、ノーマリーホワイトモードであり、
前記表示部に表示される画像が静止画である場合に黒を表示するときの前記液晶に印加される電圧の絶対値は、前記表示部に表示される画像が動画である場合に黒を表示するときの前記液晶に印加される電圧の絶対値よりも大きいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記液晶は、ノーマリーブラックモードであり、
前記表示部に表示される画像が静止画である場合に白を表示するときの前記液晶に印加される電圧の絶対値は、前記表示部に表示される画像が動画である場合に白を表示するときの前記液晶に印加される電圧の絶対値よりも大きいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記液晶は、ノーマリーホワイトモードであり、
前記画像信号の階調数が小さいほど、前記表示部に表示される画像が静止画である場合に黒を表示するときの前記液晶に印加される電圧の絶対値は大きいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記液晶は、ノーマリーブラックモードであり、
前記画像信号の階調数が小さいほど、前記表示部に表示される画像が静止画である場合に白を表示するときの前記液晶に印加される電圧の絶対値は大きいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
