TLC=Tref+α×(Tenv−Tref)
(上記式中、Tenvは環境温度を示す値、αは0.6≦α≦0.8の正数、Trefは環境温度値Tenvと温度設定信号TLCとが等しくなる温度を示す)
に従って、−40°C〜+85°Cの使用環境温度幅全体に亘って、光の波長変動をCWDM方式の波長グリッド相当の10nm以下に抑えるように、連続的に規定することを特徴とする。

(上記式中、αは、1未満の正数、Trefは、環境温度とレーザダイオード設定温度とが等しくなる温度を示す)
|Tref+α×(Tenv−Tref)−Tenv|≦50°C
すなわち、
1−50/|Tref−Tenv|≦α
とする必要があるので、αの好適な値として、α≧3/5が導かれる。Trefは上記したように、環境温度Tenvとレーザダイオードの温度設定TLCとが等しくなる温度である。上記式は、Trefとして、例えば−40°C、あるいは+85°Cといったような極限的な値も含んでいる。Trefとして通常設定される10°C〜40°Cを想定した場合には、αの好ましい値としてα≧2/5が得られる。
Claims (2)
- CWDM方式の光通信装置に用いられる光送信モジュールであって、
駆動電流が供給されて光を出力するレーザダイオードと、
前記レーザダイオードの温度を変更するためのペルチェ素子と、
前記レーザダイオードの温度をモニタする第1の温度センサと、
前記レーザダイオードの周辺の環境温度をモニタする第2の温度センサと、
前記環境温度に基づいて、前記レーザダイオードの設定温度の変化幅が前記環境温度の変化幅よりも小さくなるように、温度設定信号を変更する制御部と、
前記温度設定信号と、前記第1の温度センサによって出力された温度信号とに応じて、前記レーザダイオードの温度を前記温度設定信号に対応する温度になるように前記ペルチェ素子を駆動するペルチェ駆動回路と、
を備え、
前記制御部は、前記温度設定信号TLCを、下記式:
TLC=Tref+α×(Tenv−Tref)
(上記式中、Tenvは前記環境温度を示す値、αは0.6≦α≦0.8の正数、Trefは前記環境温度値Tenvと前記温度設定信号TLCとが等しくなる温度を示す)
に従って、−40°C〜+85°Cの使用環境温度幅全体に亘って、前記光の波長変動をCWDM方式の波長グリッド相当の10nm以下に抑えるように、連続的に規定する、
ことを特徴とする光送信モジュール。 - 前記制御部は、前記レーザダイオードに印加されるバイアス電流を、前記温度設定信号に対応する温度に応じて変更する駆動電流制御回路を更に有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の光送信モジュール。
